ZERO ━━━ THE GIRL
ON THE ROOFTOP

IT WAS one of those tiring days for Kageyama. The aching cramps spreading from his back thighs and arms continued to disturb him whenever he took a step or even move a muscle.

A drowsy yawn left his lips as he walked on the sidewalk of the prefecture, now seeing a glimpse of his school and continued his walk.

He entered the school campus, still feeling a bit sleepy and exhausted from his early morning routine and yesterday's volleyball practice, then went to his locker to exchange his shoes.

The male walked inside his classroom, giving a stiff nod to those who greeted him a good morning and hanged the strap of his bag on the hook of his assigned desk.

Right after he sat down on his seat, Kageyama lay his head on top of the wooden table and closed his eyes for a moment, letting sleep take over him for the meantime before homeroom starts.

Just as he was about to doze off, the dark-haired male heard two of his classmates gossiping just a few chairs away from him and made out merely a few sentences from their quiet conversation.

"I heard that a student tried to get it on with her teacher to pass her failing subject."

"Damn... that girl's desperate."

"I wouldn't do that even if it cost me getting thrown out of the house."

Kageyama internally scoffed, 'I can't believe people quickly assumed that those rumors are true.' He thought to himself before brushing the thought away and continued to doze off, letting out a faint sigh as one thought lingered in the back of his mind before he started to take a nap.

'I don't care anyway.'

The lunch bell rang across the hallways of the school. Students of different years started to leave their rooms, some of them rushing out while others quietly walk out and meet up with their friends from other classes.

Kageyama was still sitting down on his seat, feeling his energy already drained out from the algorithms and formulas their math teacher was teaching and felt like he needed a drink.

He moved over to his bag, getting out his lunch for the day, and stood up from his seat. The male then walked pass the empty chairs of his classmates and left the classroom.

During his walk through the hallway, he passed by students who were still hanging around the corridor and heard some of them talking about the rumor of the same second-year student.

It didn't get his attention as usual.

As he stepped out of the building, Kageyama found a vending machine standing by the opening. He headed towards the vending machine, and looked through the lists of beverages, finally finding his favorite drink. He aimed out his two fingers over the buttons and clicked them simultaneously, hearing something dropped down from the machine after a few seconds.

He took the small box of milk out of the slot, sticking the provided plastic straw inside the drink and took a sip out the small carton. The male turned around and was about to leave the area until a body accidentally bumped into his shoulder, making him almost spill his drink.

"Oi! You almost spilled my mil-"

Kageyama spun around to call out the person who bumped into him, only to stop himself from talking when he realized that the person got away already. He let out a huff and dusted the invisible dust from his shoulder, taking a step forward before hearing something crinkle under the sole of his shoe.

The setter looked down and found a pink crumpled ball. 'Must be from that person who bumped into me.' Kageyama thought as he bent over to pick up the paper ball and uncrumpled it, seeing words written in legible handwriting.

His brows automatically knitted as his dark blue eyes quickly skim through every word on the paper, before raising a brow when he finally got the sense of what he was reading.

A love letter?

The dark-haired male looked at the bottom part of the paper and saw a name written with legible cursive writing. "Y/N?..." Kageyama murmured the person's name and let out a light grunt, crumpling the letter into a ball, then throwing it into the trash bin close to him.

"Why would I even care about a confession?... It's not my business anyway." He spoke to himself and went back to his classroom, now brushing off any thoughts about this 'Y/N' person.

It was finally the last period of the day. The sound of chalk scribbling down the blackboard was heard around the room as the history teacher teaches his students of Class 1-3.

Kageyama didn't bother to listen to his teacher as he pursed his lips and turned his head towards the window, feeling a bit bored as he watched the clouds move from the strokes of the gentle wind.

'One last time...' The setter thought to himself, only for his train of thoughts to be cut off by the sound of the school bell ringing, signaling that it was already the end of classes.

Kageyama let out a relieved sigh and got off of his seat, reaching his bag over his desk before slinging it over his shoulder. As he walked out of the room, he would give out a few nods to some of his classmates who bid him goodbye, also replying with his own 'goodbye' and left the classroom.

A bit of excitement bubbled inside him as Kageyama got closer and closer towards his destination, speeding up his pace so he wouldn't be late for practice either.

Kageyama found out about the place when he decided to check the rooftop before practice started. That's when he started to visit this place every time after school.

What is this spot you ask?

The school's rooftop was one of those places where he could relax or just have some time for himself. Whenever he visits that place, he would feel a sense of contentment and tranquility like it was meant for him entirely.

He would just lay on the floor of the balcony and looked up at the beautiful orange sky, the light streaks of the sun outlining the moving clouds like it was a work of art.

No one can bother him. It was just him and the setter liked that. Sadly, as his volleyball practices and tutor sessions increases, his visits on top will have to stop for a while.

Kageyama stared at the door that leads out to the roof, raising his hand to its knob and turned it, making the door let out a clicking sound. He felt a gush of wind when he pushed the door slightly, seeing the light streaks of the sun peek behind and touched his skin.

The setter's lips tugged up in a small smile from the familiar warm feeling and slowly pushed the door open.

That's when it happened.

As he stepped out to the rooftop of the school, Kageyama stopped in his tracks when he saw a girl out of the balcony.

Her back was facing him as she leans back on the railings for support, her grip tightening around the bars so that she won't accidentally fall. Strands of her H/C hair started to be blown away by the wind when she started to look down on what she thinks she'll land on.

Kageyama widened his eyes and his smile faltered, surprised by the unexpected scenario playing in front of him. He felt his body tense up when it registered to him on what the hell this girl's about to do.

Shit.

He can't help himself from speaking up, his usual intimidating voice suddenly becoming soft and solemn when the words just slipped out of his dry mouth, making the girl meet his sharp eyes with her shock-filled ones.

"Hey, Don't do it please."
