the night of the wedding

"Did my heart love till now ? Forswear it, sight, For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night."
-Romeo Montague

"My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep. The more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite."

-Juliet Capulet

"Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow."

Probably the biggest regret that the both of you had was not saying you love each other sooner. But now it was too late. The back of the hall your parents rented is where everyone was preparing. Different women, stood trying to get you ready. One touching up your makeup, one making sure your dress looked suitable, and one pinning up your hair in the style your mother picked out.Β

Just when those ladies dispersed, your mother came up behind you,Β  placing a necklace upon your neck. Her necklace to be exact, that was passed to her from Levi's mother when they were married. Now it was your turn. It was gold crested and had a big sapphire in the middle of it.Β

It was beautiful but you didn't want to get it in this way. You wanted to be happy while you received. "You look beautiful, my love."

Your mother knew how much you detested the fact of the wedding but the both of you still continued on, in hopes to avoid an uncomfortable talk. You didn't blame any of this on her though. It was your father.

Your father. You haven't spoken a word to him since everything happened. You didn't care to and seemingly he didn't either. To him, you felt as if you were merely a pawn in his grand scheme to first rule over Brooklyn and soon rule over the whole of New York.Β

"Thank you mom." You reached your hand up to graze the pads of your fingers along the shining sapphire.

"Me and your father love you very much. And we couldn't be prouder." Before she left out of the room, she gave you a kiss on the cheek.

You were now alone in the big back room of the hall. Your eyes were focused on the person staring back at you from the other side of the mirror. Who was this ?

You could hardly recognize yourself. The (y/n) you knew would never take this laying down. But what was left to do ? You lost in a game you never wanted to play. You hurt somebody you loved in the process.Β

You snapped out of your self deprecating thoughts when you heard the door to the room open. It was Mikasa, Connie, and Jean. "Hey (y/n)."

"Hi," you say in almost a whisper.Β

"You look.. stunning (y/n)," Jean comments.

"Thanks."

"How are you feelin' ?" Connie plopped himself in a chair next to the mirror.

"Don't know. I mean I would do anything to get out of this but.. you know." You blinked away the tears trying to fight their way out.Β

The three wrapped you in a group hug. As they did so, Jean whispered to you. "I promise (y/n). This won't be how your story ends."

With that, the three of them walked out of the room to get the wedding started. You followed behind them, waiting for them to walk down the aisle, just like ya'll practiced.Β

Now it was your turn. Your father met you at the end of the aisle. You sucked up the remaining pride you had left and held onto his arm. "You look great," he whispered to you.

"Don't talk to me," you hissed back. The time came where you were now standing in front of Floch.Β

"You may be seated," the minister spoke.Β

He continued on carrying out the wedding. You looked at all of the eager eyes staring back at you. Some your aunts and uncles from both sides. That is, except for one relative and one uncle. You kinda wished that they would be there but they had a falling out with your father not too long ago.Β

"(y/n). Your vows." Everyone looked at you. Before you spoke, your eyes caught Connie and Jean. They looked around and nodded to each other, which left you a little confused. "(y/n)," the minister persisted.Β

You repeated the vows that your mother wrote for you. Which was great because if you were left in charge of your words, everyone watching would be sent in a frenzy. You inhaled. "Floch. I'm happy that our union will not only help our families. But will also be the start of a blossoming love, I hope to tell my kids about."

You nearly gagged. "And Floch." You mentally checked out while he talked, considering the fact that he was bound to say something that would make you slap him.Β

You looked up at the large tinted windows in the ceiling. And you could've sworn that you saw a shadow rush past it. It was probably your mind playing tricks on you. You didn't get that much sleep the night before anyways so you shook it off.Β

"Do you Floch Forster, take (y/n) Aliyah Ackerman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish : from this day forward while the both of you shall live ? If so, answer ' I do'."

Floch looked at you, smiled, and took your hands in his. "I do."

"And do you (y/n) Aliyah Ackerman, take Floch Forster to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish : from this day forward while the both of you shall live ? If so, answer ' I do' "

You looked out to your mother, eagerly waiting and hoping for you to say the two magic words. You took a deep breath. This was it. You were now going to give your life away, practically against your will. It won't be so bad right ?

No this was going to be hell. "I-"Β

Just as you began to speak the four shots rang out in the empty hall, causing for the lights to vanish and for the building to go pitch black. You felt a hand slip over your mouth and a voice whisper in your ear. "C'mon (y/n). We have to make this quick." It was Mikasa.

You had a billion questions but it didn't matter since she was now dragging you away. Connie and Jean followed closely behind the two of you. Mikasa led you to the back door of the church and stopped. "Guys what's going on ?"Β

"I told you your story wouldn't stop here (y/n). And I meant it." Jean smiled at you.Β

The door opened, scaring the hell out of you. And there he was. Armin. Your Romeo. And he was smiling at you. "Hey, Juliet," he smiles.Β

Your mouth wouldn't allow you to speak. Instead you embraced him, feeling every part of his torso that you missed. Inhaling his captivating jasmine scent that you sat up nights thinking about. You sealed it all with a kiss, full of tears.Β

He pulled back. "We can finish talking later but we have to go."Β

All of you ran out of the church and followed behind Armin, who was leading you to a small alley. "Here. Ditch the dress," Mikasa said helping you take off your dress. The boys, out of respect, turned around while Mikasa helped you put on a simple sports bra, a black hoodie, and a pair of biker shorts.Β

"Alright. What's next ?" Connie looked at Jean.Β

Then, you hear tires screech against the street right in front of the alley. "This is where we hand it to Eren."

Eren, right on cue, pulls up in a small black car, with another one right behind him. The window of the car behind his, rolls down, revealing Sasha. "The couple ! Get in this car. Armin, you know the plan. The rest of us will go in mine and try to shake them off. We'll meet at the rendezvous point."

Armin nodded and took your hand. Eren and him swapped seats, with Eren getting out to go into the car with the rest of your friends. You hopped in the passenger.Β

As soon as you were in the car, everyone was off. Armin sped down multiple streets. "I'm sorry for what I said (y/n). I was just hurt," Armin spoke calmly.Β

"It's fine. I know."

"And there's one more thing." He paused and took a deep breath. "I love you."Β

"I love you too, Armin."Β

Apparently , your father's men were a step ahead of you and were now chasing you. You looked into the rear view mirror panicking. In the cars behind you, was your father and mother in one, with two bodyguards in the back. In the other was Floch, gripping his gun while steering. The look of rage and bloodlust in his eyes but weirdly enough a smile was sketched on his face. "Hold on," Armin looks at you before he swerved the car, leading everyone onto a bridge.Β

You then hear a loud pop and feel the car gradually slow down. "Fuck !" You hear Armin scream. "We'll have to run."

You nod and get out the car behind him. His hand never let go of yours as the both of you ran higher onto the Brooklyn bridge. Without your knowing, your father was closing in on the both of you.Β

The both of you couldn't run any further. You looked at the ground and water below you, that seemingly blended together, in the dark of night. Armin squeezed your hand. "It's going to be fine (y/n). Don't worry."

"Well, well, well. If it isn't Armin Arlert. I had a little hunch you had something to do with this. I'm happy I was correct. And you (y/n). You just let this devil blind you from your family." Floch walked closer to the two of you.

"YOU are not my family Floch," you look back.

"You know. I've always watched as you caught the eyes of other men. And it really hurt (y/n). I vowed to not let anyone get in the way of today. And I'll be damned if I allow him to get away with it."

A gunshot filled your ears. It didn't hit you. You looked over to Armin who was staring back at you. "(y/n).." He fell back, falling and falling to the water below.

"ARMIN !" You shout. You turned back to Floch, out of options and out of hope.Β

"(y/n) come down please ! It's over," you hear your father shout.Β

Tears stream out of your eyes. "Remember when I said I rather die than to be with you Floch ? I meant it." And with that, you fell to your death.Β
