recently, photos of nct's star and riize's sungchan before debut have surfaced and been circulating.

in most photos, the two are acting suspiciously. they have an arm around each other in some, are kissing each other's cheeks in others, are holding hands in others, and are dancing together in others.

rumors that these two used to date began spreading. the evidence was overwhelming. however, some dans don't believe they really dated, rather they were really close. this is because of their close platonic friendship that was showcased in sungchan's short time within nct.

through sm, both sungchan and star have made their own statements. here is what sungchan had to say:

i am here to address your concerns. recently, photos from my past were leaked. these photos have raised red flags, specifically in relation to nct's star. i would like to confirm that yes, star and i had a relationship in the past. star and i are great friends now, and we both have moved on from our short relationship. i apologize for not being open about this earlier. thank you for your understanding.
