the group sat around el's wooden dining table, eating snacks while playing uno with theo dramatically laying on the couch. reed next to him, trying to push him away from his personal space.

all of them had a reasonable amount of cards, except chris who had enough for two more rounds. el laid back in her chair as saoirse excused herself to go to the bathroom.

"we should go to the fair and invite lili and iris" el said, setting her cards down.

matt looked up, "yeah. and if we see mads and oakley between now and then, maybe them too?"

"yeah"

"when's the next one?"

el picked her phone up from the table, and began to look it up. "okay got it. there's one tomorrow afternoon actually."

matt turned to reed and theo, "do you guys want to go?"

"yeah sure" reed said, "what about you briar"

she looked back at him for a moment, "yeah ill go."

"okay ill buy the tickets"

reed pushed himself off the sofa, walking over to the table and flopping into the seat next to matt.

briar spoke up, "is it dark enough to do the fire pit?"

chris threw his cards down, as if he was waiting for someone to say that. "yes. i can not do this game anymore."

saoirse walked back into the room, "that's because you had the most cards."

briar stood up and helped everyone get their stuff, along with the snacks outside.

after chris started the fire, the rest of the friend group sat into the chairs, a few starting to make smores.

the sun had already set and all you could hear were crickets, while smelling the smoke of the fire.

the fire crackled as el looked over next to her at matt, who was talking to reed and chris about the fair. she smiled at him. he returned the smile, before a realization came to him and he quickly turned away.

tae pulled her marshmallow away from the fire, beginning to make it a smore.

chris ate his smore too, marshmallow covering his face, "do you guys want to go to the beach and play volleyball tomorrow?"

tae winced at the sight of the mess on his face, "of course"

"yeah i'll go too," el said, looking down at her phone checking the clock.

her lock screen made her face light up with how bright it was,
she held her phone up to the group, the time 12:00 showing on the screen.

"i'm going to go to bed, you guys are welcome to stay the night"

"i'll stay" reed agreed, "i'm sure theo will too," nodding his head toward theo, half way asleep in his chair.

saoirse laughed, shaking him awake as the rest of them put out the fire before going into the house.

the group all went upstairs talking as they went up about what to wear as they didn't bring any change of clothes.

after finding something, they all laid out blankets in front of el's bed to sit and watch scream. popcorn and the rest of their snacks we already half eaten as theo, chris and saoirse fell asleep.

el leaned onto matt's shoulder, as she looked over at briar and reed who looked no where near close to falling asleep. briar smiled happily at the movie as reed turned his head, staring at her with a slight smile.

matt looked down at eloise, as she looked back at him.
