summer, the thing most people count down the days for, including el. she would miss her home town, but she was most excited to make it to the beach and see her friends. she only saw them during the summer, and it was the best part of her year. her friends walked into her and her best friends house, matthew, whenever they pleased, and most of the time they'd stay up talking with a fire pit going until it burnt out. this summer, she hoped, would be no different.

most of her friends already lived down there besides matt and her. matt would travel from his home, and el from hers to meet them down there as soon as the summer began. meaning, in order for them and their family's to soak up as much time at the beach as they could, they needed to pack quick.

unfortunately, for el. it wasn't coming naturally. it never did, her style was all over the place, as were clothes, all laid out on her floor and bed. over the last year, she finally found her style but it was still hard to plan outfits in a time span.

el grabbed her phone, dialing one of her friends, tae. hoping her hobby of shopping will also come with fashion sense.

she picked up on the second ring, "i assume you're having trouble packing?" she laughs.

el scoffs, "slightly rude of you to assume that. but i'm not offended because yes i do. badly."

tae laughs in return as over the phone el hears her flopping onto her bed, clicking the face-time button. she hits accept.

her face comes into focus, her hair in lose braids and a white shirt, showing a bathing suit underneath and light washed colored jeans. "alright show me the possible options"

she picked up possible shirt options, showing them to her as they began to talk about other things.

after shuffling through most of her clothes and tossing some out, she finished packing. she said her goodbyes to tae, packed a tote full of books then dragged her things to the car, before flopping into the back seat.

the drive had carried along for hours now. though el didn't mind, she liked the car anyway. she texted her friends about where was she was before setting her phone down on her lap for the rest of drive, staring out the window at the ocean. her window is rolled all the way down as her head is mostly through it, breathing in the salty air. she ties her hair in two lose braids behind her to get it out of way, before looking to the front of the car.

the car takes multiple turns as they come across the houses. the front of the car hits the change in road, pulling up into the driveway. her mom puts the car in park, getting out, shutting the door behind her. these two houses have been the ones her and her mom have been coming to since she was little. next door is matt and chris's family's house. his mom and hers have been coming down here since they were their age.

she grabs her purse and steps out of the car. the sun is bright on her face, so she raises her hand to shield her eyes. she looks up to mother running to hug matt and chris's mother, her best friend. she turns, her eyes still not focused before two more people come into vision.

rn it's kinda boring and not that good, but i swear it'll get better once the other friends are introduced.
