When curiosity is sparked.

THE VARIA CASTLE HAD ALWAYS been a behemoth of a building, with winding corridors, secret passages and rooms and a basement the size of Isle Saint Helena with a labyrinthine layout so complicated that it turned your brain into mush. There were multiple exits from the labyrinth to various areas around Sicily, all left behind after the Second World War.
All in all, the castle was a building basically made for paranoid elite assassins. The possibilities for traps and ambushes were as endless as the escape routes strategically mapped out as they explored their fortress.
Everything within the building was documented, classified and then sent to the Archives (a room that seemed to be never-ending in its space). The more quote-on-quote... dangerous objects were kept under a mist territory at the Mist Officer's discretion.
So imagine his surprise when Xanxus stumbled across a library hidden under a winding staircase during his walk to clear his head and momentarily forget about the stack of paperwork that the Shitty Shark brought in his office, all the while erasing his presence一for good measure.
(Mentioned it be that Squalo now smelled like he took a dip in a pool of scotch.)
Xanxus di Vongola hadn't been Il Capo del Varia for that long (those years spent stuck in Zero Point Breakthrough did not fucking count), so, in spite of him being the boss, he hadn't spent that much time discovering his new home, with the exception of the scant few months between taking over after Tyr had been offed and getting the Varia up to his standards.
He side-eyed the door, wary of the fact he couldn't sense his Storm's flames. Given the way Belphegor had attacked every library and literally inhaled their countless books during the brat's first two weeks of stay, the Wrathful Sky felt entitled to his wariness.
He looked around the somewhat homey room, taking in the color coded way the books were arranged and the dark red couch that stood invitingly in the middle of the room.
Not one to flare his flames boldly as to search for traps一if his subordinates had left traps, then he wasn't going to find traces, they were fucking Quality一Xanxus tapped into his Cloud, circulating the flames around his body, and looked around the room.
To his slight disbelief, no, there weren't any surprises awaiting him in this room. Which, ok. Odd.
And while he'd normally look for reasons as to why this library hadn't been discovered earlier, that couch did look quite promising for a quick nap.
Fluidly landing himself on the soft cushions, Xanxus did note, with no small amount of satisfaction, that he'd just found the best getaway from his work.
Best fucking news of the day.
