𝙘𝙤𝙗𝙧𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙞 𝙛𝙞𝙘
The All Valley Karate tournament had been officially over, and Miguel had won the All-Valley title, so he had been feeling semi-great as Sam had not forgiven him for what happened at the party. Cat had spoken with Miguel and she immediately apologized for not staying to see him face off Robby Keene in the finals but he had known what she was going through.
Cat had not spoken to her dad ever since the tournament, what was she going to say at all, she so much envy for her father and Robby Keene. Daniel didn't even try to reach out after the tournament, he simply didn't know what to do that would help.
Beau had finally had the courage to ask Cat to officially be his girlfriend and Cat who had opened up and agreed to be with him as long as he promised not to hurt her. And they kind of made out in the backseat of Beau's car, what they are teenagers.
Cat was on her way towards the dojo when she saw Miguel and Eli on electric scooters as Cat let out a chuckle. Parking her car, she grabbed her gym duffel bag and strapped along her upper body and locked her door.
"Nice rides." Cat chuckled at the two guys.
Miguel scoffed playfully and shoved her with his body, "I never actually personally congratulated you on your big win." Miguel shrugged not really caring for the praise.
"You are lucky we didn't have to go against each other." Cat grinned as Miguel let out a small chuckle before pushing Cat to the side.
At the entrance of Cobra Kai, new potential students were lining up and once Cat had opened the front doors she saw glass that had been broken and burn marks on the wall.
A bunch of students had walked in until Johnny had spoke up, "Quiet! The dojos closed to new students today."
"We wanted to sign up after we saw the tournament." One of them had said really wanting to learn karate but Johnny had other plans, "Do I need to say it again? Get out."
The white boy had nodded a little terrified, "Yes, sir.. sensei. Come on let's go." A bunch of them had groaned at the man who made them all leave the dojo.
As the teens left, Johnny turned to his students and made them all fall in. Turning around to notice that Cat, Eli and Miguel were the only ones without their gi's.
"Must've been a rager, Sensei." Eli grinned at the older man when Miguel grinned at him also, "Were you celebrating all weekend?
"Celebrating what? My students are a bunch of pussies." Cat frowned at the man and was confused on what he had meant, wasn't that out of character for him but definitely was confusing.
"Diaz, Hawk, up front." Both of the boys walked up eyeing the man.
"Hawk. Did you attack your opponent when his back was turned?" Eli answered truthfully, "Yes, sensei."
"Diaz. Did you purposely attack your opponent's injury?" He walked to Miguel, "Yes, Sensei."
Cat had stood there until her sensei had walked in front of her, "Maybe you need some help. Torres! "Yes, Sensei." She answered promptly.
"Two cobras in the jungle. One kills the strongest lion, the other kills a crippled monkey." Cat furrowed her eyebrows, "Which cobra do you wanna be?"
"The one that kills the lion- and why is that?"
"Because it killed a stronger animal."
"Correct!"
"Torres. Up front." She nodded and walked up to stand apart from Eli, giving him a wearily look.
"Did you purposely attack your opponents injury?"
Cat had remembered that moment were people all thought she had purposely had hurt Robby but he moved and caught him on the elbow. "No Sensei."
Johnny had made it way towards all his students and he wanted them to understand that they needed to be taught how to fairly fight. "Cobra Kai is about being badass. And the baddest badass is the one who beats his opponent or at least tries to when he's at his strongest."
Johnny looking at Cat who had felt so bad that she had lost, walking up to Eli. "Not when his back is turned."
"Not when he is injured." Walking up to Miguel.
"Is that understood?" Johnny asked all his students who had clearly understood.
"Yes, Sensei."
"That's means no more cheating. No more fighting dirty. From here on out, those are pussy moves, and you don't wanna be pussies, do you?"
"Good. It's why I had you wear your white belts. We're starting over. Diaz, Hawk, 50 pushups on your knuckles. Torres, warm them up."
Cat had looked to see her friends getting down when she had started to warm up the rest of her teammates. A little worried that it could have meant more than what Johnny was leading on, maybe it was just that he didn't want them to fight dirty.
...
It had been a while since Scott Davis had shown his face back in Los Angeles, he had a great time all the way in New York but he had miss where he came from and the people he had in his life. It was officially summer and that meant he would spend his time with his friends.
Football was great and all but he didn't love leaving everyone behind. Unfortunately the one person that he wanted to see the most was someone who probably didn't want to be around him. Scott was going to make his rounds with everyone he had missed while he was away.
Scott had fit the "jock" criteria in a way. He loved to play sports and was fit but sometimes he had this feeling that maybe there was something else he needed to. Scott had always been around the more popular then other students in West Valley High School.
He knew all about Kyler, Yasmine, Moon and their little group but he had never associated with them besides Moon since she was more nicer to him.
Besides that, he tried his best to be surrounded by good people.
The one person he desperately needed to see was the one person he had hurt the most. He had regretted the things he had done to Cat but he wanted to make it right but do it in person.
When they broke up, it was honestly one of the most unexpected moments you could even imagine happen to them because they were meant to be together forever. Cat was in love. She didn't want anyone else in her life because she thought that they were in love.
He knew that it had broke her heart when he left because when they had the last argument, she was holding onto the sweater he had left behind for her and letting out soft sobs which had hurt his soul.
He never went back. Scott saw her but left.
Samantha had heard that Scott was back in town and she knew that he was athletic and that it might be worth a shot if they could get him on their side. Sam didn't know if he was even interested but she invited him to her dad's dojo anyways.
Scott making his way towards the address Sam gave him, he was pretty friendly with Sam but he knew how Cat had felt about her. Once he had found the place he ended up seeing Sam in the distance waving when he waved back.
He hopped out of the car and walked towards her, accidentally interrupting Daniel- he got looks directly at him. Some looks of concern and confusion.
Sam cleared her throat. "Dad, Robby this is Scott. Scott this is my dad and Robby." She smiled at the interaction as Scott nodded, confirming that it was nice to meet them.
"Since Scott is back in town, hopefully for awhile. I thought he'd make a great addition to the miyagi do family." Sam added.
Prior to the conversation on the message, she'd let him know if he had any interest in karate but he said that he had no experience.
He shrugged, "Sure, im down. Though I don't know anything about karate, I do know a lot about football and tackling."
Daniel chuckled, "Well in Miyagi Do, it's all about defense only. I'm sorry but you look so familiar."
Scott pursed his lips and a grew a little nervous, Sam put out her hand, "He went to All Valley High with me before he left to go take a football program in New York."
"Why did you return?" Sounding very interested in why the boy who had such a passion with football, wondering why he'd want to leave. Scott tilted his head, "It was time."
With that, Daniel had clapped his hands and smiled at the three of the students he had already ready to learn Karate but his way, the right way.
Daniel had left Robby and Sam to do a wheel technique that he had learned from his past sensei, they had to learn to always move in a circle. While they were learning to do that but in sync, he had grabbed a can of paint and some brushes.
Scott looking at the backyard, as he went to explore the whole dojo but when had seen Daniel- he walked back to him. Confusion reached his face to see the cans and brushes.
"Alright Scott. First lesson is to paint the fence over there." Daniel told him grabbing the can and giving it to him, he chuckled completely confused.
"So you want me to do chores?" He questioned the older man when Daniel shook his head, "Look it might look like that to you right now but it's all about you developing muscle memory and training your mind."
Scott didn't judge anyone but it seemed to him that he couldn't possibly learn karate by just doing chores. He gave Daniel the benefit of the doubt and had done what he asked simply wanting to learn karate.
Scott had painted the whole fence, sanded the deck repeatedly and eventually waxed the cars out in the front. He had spent his afternoon doing chores and all he wanted to do was leave but Daniel had stopped the boy.
"Scott. Come here for a minute, please." Scott jogged over to him when he saw Sam practicing a form of Karate he was obviously not familiar with. Very concentrated with her form, he was snapped out of his trance when Daniel had told same to come over as well.
Sitting down next to Sam.
"Now would be a great time to tell me why you are actually here Scott." Daniel stated. Looking over to see confused frowns plastered onto both teens.
"Are you sure?" Handing Scott a Polaroid of a clear Cat and Scott in the frame with Scott kissing her cheek.
Scott sighed. Grabbing the picture, "Thanks. I had no bad intentions when I came, I swear. Sam called me and told me that you were opening a new dojo. It had nothing to do with her."
Daniel gave him a short nod. "Alright."
"I do want to learn karate. I swear." He tried to reassure him quickly to which he finally replied, "I'm just on edge, I'm sorry."
Scott let him know that it was okay.
...
Scott and Sam had been catching up for the past hours since the training was over for the day, Scott had shared all his stories and adventures that he had been through the time he was gone. Sam had the chance to see all the photos on his phone that he took of his long trip.
"That's great you had a great time." Sam smiled.
"So what about you?" Scott pondered.
"Well.. where do I begin." She chuckled nervously reminiscing all about the past couple of months with Cobra Kai and Miguel. Sam had shared her thoughts about everything to which Scott had felt sympathy for as it seemed like it was a long and difficult time.
"Jeez. He seems like a a total dick." Scott spoke out about Miguel, "Well he changed. And everyone who is in Cobra Kai are jerks well besides Cat I guess but she doesn't even talk to me." Sam shook her head sighing.
"I heard she was doing karate. Just didn't know if it was true." he hummed.
Sam fiddled with her water bottle, "So not that it's really any of my business but why did you break up?" She knew all about them and how they had a such a great relationship but it suddenly went away.
Scott looked up at her, "Oh. She said that if I left for my football program then we were done. So I selfishly chose football over her. I regret it because I caused her so much pain and just left like that."
Sam had finally understood him and offered him a small smile and gave him a reassuring hug, hoping he'd understand it wasn't his fault.
He thanked her.
Suddenly Sam got a phone call when she looked at the caller ID and saw that it was no one other than 'Yasmine' when She furrowed her eyebrows as she hadn't spoken to her in awhile since she said those things to her.
Answering the phone, he put it on speaker phone.
"Yasmine?" Sam answered.
"I heard Scott is back in town. Is he with you?" Yasmine inquired, everyone knew that Yasmine had really was interested in Scott but he obviously had no interest in her what so ever.
"Why- Just is he? What's with all the questions." Yasmine grunted at her.
"What do you want Yasmine." Scott spoke out loud.
"Hey. So now that you are back in town, me and some of my friends are going out tonight and wanted to know if you wanted to come with me?"
"No." He sighed.
"Is it because of her?" She groaned, "She's with Beau." She mumbled.
Scott's face faltered suddenly at the mention of that name. His eyebrows were scrunched together and a frown was on his forehead, he grabbed Sam's phone.
"What? Beau Pierce?"
He knew that Beau had always wanted to get with Cat even when they were in their relationship and even though he didn't think he was much of a threat during the time they were together, he always tried to make moves on Cat but she would always awkwardly reject him.
She rolled her eyes, "Yes, who else. Apparently they have been going on many dates and are officially together. Who cares tho?" Waiting for an answer, he hung up abruptly.
He handed Sam her phone back.
Sam noticed that his whole demeanor had changed and he gone quiet so she just sat looking at him. "Scott are you okay?" Sam asked him as he nodded before grabbing his stuff.
"I'll be ok. See you tomorrow." He sat up leaving the dojo.
Cat and Beau had been hanging at her place for the most part, she had been very happy for the most part. He had asked what she wanted to do for the day as she had long busy days of training at the dojo. She immediately told him she wanted to cuddle and watch a movie. He knew she'd would be knocked once she was in his arms and under the blankets.
They decided on the notebook and within an hour, she had fallen into a deep slumber. When Beau finally heard soft snores coming from Cat he knew to turn off the tv.
Beau gently pulled her off to grab the blanket that was trapped under the end of the bed. Once she was all covered, he went back to her side as Cat immediately yawned and put her head onto his chest.
He let her sleep for two hours. Cat hadn't felt pleased and content in a long time, she finally felt happy because for a long time, she wasn't.
Once Cat had finally woken up from her long overdue nap she had noticed that her boyfriend was missing from the bed. Looking down to see her wearing some training clothing, she went to change before she went downstairs to hopefully find him there.
The time had gone by as it was 6 in the evening.
Walking downstairs she made her way towards the kitchen to see a sticky note placed onto the counter with covered up brownies that her mom had clearly baked. She hummed while grabbing the piece of paper.
Enjoy the brownies!
We will be out tonight with Jo :)
She grabbed the serán wrap and grabbed a brownie taking a bite until she heard a knock on the front door that sounded very loud. Thinking it was Miguel or one of her friends, really not thinking much about it.
Cat's expression had turned happy to confusing really quick when she saw that it wasn't her best friend and instead it was someone she never thought she would see again.
All the emotions that she was feeling had suddenly all came back and she wasn't sure she knew what to say.
"What are you doing here?" Cat furrowed her eyebrows at the person in front of her.
"Beau Pierce seriously?" Scott let out a dry laugh. He kept on looking straight at Cat's direction to which she avoided his eye because deep down she felt guilty that she was doing something she said she would never do.
"It's true then. Of course it is."
Cat shook her head in disbelief. "You broke up with me and not just that, you left me. You left me. Don't blame me for something you did."
Scott scoffed at her, "I didn't tell you to go to him. He has always wanted you but you obviously couldn't see that."
"Scott, you can't come back suddenly and expect me to wait for you. I waited but you chose that dumb little sport over me. And Beau was here.." she mumbled the last part.
"I heard." He spat.
"Just leave. I don't have to justify anything to you. And Beau is a good guy, he's not the enemy." Cat softly added.
"Just like Sam isn't a bad person- I never said she was."
"I spoke with your dad and Sam. Maybe you just like to see the bad in everyone and not give them a chance. Maybe they aren't like you say they are.
" Tell Beau I said hey." Looking straight at his car that was parked in your driveway.
She stood there dumbfounded and let out a breathy sigh looking at him leaving the porch and out her house.
