It's not easy to be in a war with yourself,

As my head screams at me about how disgusting I am,

I would just shake my head and drown myself in music.

Remembering all the memories,

All the fake smiles and reassurances

I used to give to others about my own self.

I would say,

"I am fine"

When I clearly wasn't.

I would stay up late in the night,

Screaming inside my head,

Crying till my throat turns sore and my eyes dry up,

Seeing everything with blurry eyes,

Hiding in a corner so no one sees me.

I couldn't let anyone know

Just how broken I am,

How I am breaking even more every second ,

How my mind hates myself

But I can't even agree with it,

Can't do anything I want

Can't give myself the fake smiles and reassurances

That I give everyone else.
