"I am going to miss you, Tom," I said as I prepared myself to kiss him goodbye.

We were seated in the front of our car. I clutched the steering harder, as I remembered that he will be miles away from me the next day.

"Look at me," he shifted his body to face me.

"If I look at you, I know for a fact that I'll cry."

"I don't want you to cry. I want you to smile."

"Really? What's there to smile about? You're leaving in 30 minutes."

"I'm hoping this might help," He said. I turned towards him to see him searching for something in his jacket. He took out a small velvet box. A smile found its way to my face as soon as I realized what was happening.

He opened it to reveal the most beautiful ring, a princess cut diamond decorating its centre.

"I honestly planned it to be a surprise next month, but this feels like a more suited time. I couldn't leave my girl while she was crying, you see," he continued, "I can't really get on one knee right now, since, you know, we're inside the car," he said as if I didn't know that.

I simply held onto his gaze and returned the same grin that he had on his face.

"So, will you make me the happiest man by saying yes, love?" He asked me.

I felt butterflies in my stomach, as he looked at me with his eyes. They almost looked golden due to the sunlight that was peering in from the windshield. I was lost in the view in front of me, while the view spoke, "Was counting on you to say something, babe."

I felt blood rush to my cheeks.

"Yes, Tom! Of course, yes!"
