NINE

Your feet kick up the dirt from the ground as your finger clenched the metal chains harder, swinging back and forth on the swing. Your head lifts up at the sound of footsteps, and you meet eyes with none of than Taehyung. "Let me guess, Sunmi told you where I'd be." You groan as you watch him walk closer, taking a seat upon one of the metal bars next to you.

You can see the soft nod he makes as you sigh. "What did you want?" Your tone comes off harsh at first before you shake your head. "Sorry, I don't mean it like that." You stop yourself from swinging completely before looking up at him with your full attention. "You came looking for me for a reason, right?" You ask calmly now as you relax.

He nods to your words before uncrossing his arms and standing up straight. "Y/n, I like you."

You knew that already.

"I really really like you."

Yes, you knew that...

"So why is it that you won't give me a chance?"

Why was it? Was it really that hard? You look down at the ground, not a word leaving your lips as your brain becomes a swarm.

"I can't risk it." You finally say as you keep your eyes locked on the floor. You refused to look at his expression. You refuse to see what he's feeling right now.

"I can't risk thinking that there's a chance, I don't want that hope only for it to be used and crushed. That's why I refuse to be with you."

The words that slipped your mouth felt like a rock crushing down on him. There was no way you were going to end up accepting him anytime soon. He knew that, and yet he still wanted to try. He wanted that hope; that you'd say yes. Even if it didn't last that long, he wanted to at least let you know how much he; himself liked you.

"Is there really no chance for us?" He asks softly, but you still continue to look at the ground. "Even if it's just for a bit?"

"No." You finish him off quickly. "No, there is none."

You have never been more thorough on the word "no" before. You have never spilled those words so harsh and strong in your life.

You knew there wasn't going back on this once this is all over. You shouldn't feel any regrets once it's final. But why did it hurt.

"I see..." You didn't even need to see that he had begun to leave. But you refused to look up, knowing that once you did, that strong, tightening, stabbing you were feeling would only bite you in the ass.

There weren't supposed to be any regrets. There wasn't supposed to be any problems after this happened. You weren't supposed to feel empty. You weren't supposed to feel suffocated. You weren't supposed to be missing his absence or his voice. None of that was supposed to happen.

It only continued on for the next three weeks before you started to grow irritated at yourself.

Your feet made their way through the hallways as your brain wraps through all the questions you had. If it wasn't Taehyung you'd rat to, it'd only be his friends. Your fingers grab the handle to the classroom door, sliding it open as you watch some students turn to look at you. "Is Jungkook here?"

Your voice reaches out to the ears of the sleeping boy as he lifts his head up from his desk. His eyes blurred before blinking a few times as he looks up towards the door. He knew exactly why you were looking for him. There could only be one reason. He stands up from his chair, hands in his pocket before following out the room with you. Eyes of the other students going back and forth before whispers erupt once the door shuts.

Like they all say, there is always... Always, consequences to your actions.

"Sorry Y/n, Taehyung already moved back to his hometown."
