The sound of rubber soles squeaked through the polished gymnasium floor as a certain brunette smashed a volleyball through the net with extreme power and accuracy. The training had already ended for the day, but the volleyball captain decided to stay as he wanted to take his mind off on something else.

Oikawa bounced the synthetic leather ball against his calloused palms, wiping the bead of sweat that was dripping down his chin with his thumb, and deeply stared at the other end of the court. He breathed in the air around him and heaved out a sigh, lifting the ball up to his arm as his eyes stuck on one spot of the court.

He then threw the volleyball up in the air and started to dash forward, bending his knees to build the momentum as he pulled himself up. He sucked in a breath and swung his arm forward. The contact of the ball on his right hand was intense as it accurately slammed on the spot he intended to spike on, the sound of the impact booming throughout the gymnasium.

He landed on his two feet and silently contemplated to himself.

"Wow."

Oikawa widened his eyes from the sudden voice that interrupted his practice. He turned his head to the side and found your form, leaning at the entrance of the court. He soon noticed the astonishment within those reserved eyes of yours and lightly scoffed.

"I thought you went home already? The taekwondo team already left the other gymnasium an hour ago." The tall male murmured, crossing his arms and looking away like a grumpy child. "Or maybe you forgot about your practice as well? You really do forget things, huh?" Oikawa exaggerated, his ears perking up as he heard your light footsteps drawing near him.

He yelped when he felt a tight grip on his wrist as he got dragged out of the court. "H-Hey! Where are you taking me, Y/N-chan?" Oikawa called out, but he never got a reply.

"Shut up, and if you talk about me forgetting Taekwondo practices, I'll kick your shin." You huffed out and continued to drag him to God knows where.

The two third-years soon arrived at their destination. It was an old oak tree by the wooden bench. Helium balloons were tied at the edges as colorful letters of 'Happy Birthday' were inscribed on its silver-coated skin.

The spectacle in front of them was quite intriguing; Oikawa almost felt his heart explode from the overwhelming veneration he's feeling deep inside. "You... You did this?" Oikawa gasped and gaped at the sight in front of him.

Oikawa glanced beside him, expecting you to be there with him, but you disappeared without any notice. He creased his brows in confusion and looked around his surroundings, searching for your tall figure until he saw one of the most cherubic scenes he had ever witnessed.

You held up the cake made of milk-bread up to your torso and smiled sheepishly. Vanilla frosting decorated the moist cake as edible flowers accented the milky color; the blue candles planted around the center have lit up to commemorate the supposed-to-be special day of the captain.

"I uh... I wasn't able to greet you yesterday, so I decided to make it up to you by buying you a cake. It's milk bread, and from what I've heard, it's your favorite, right?" You cleared your throat and gazed at the cake, unable to look straightly at the captain's chocolate eyes.

"Happy Birthday, Oikawa-san."

Oikawa blinked and gawked at the cake, thunderstruck from the surprise as he didn't expect your sweet gesture. His cheeks blushed lightly as his heart raced up, skipping and churning in beat. He wanted to kiss you right then and there, but it may seem a bit too forward as he didn't want to scare you off or get kicked in the jewels.

"Here's your other present." You voiced out, cutting his thoughts off as you gently placed the cake on the bench.

Oikawa watched you licked off the frosting on your thumb. His eyes were unconsciously fixated on your plump lips as he shifted back to your captivating eyes. He gulped, feeling his throat going dry as he watched your torso leaning forward.

Maybe this is it!

The leaves of green descended like cherry blossoms as the orange light streaks of the sunset gracefully cast down on the two high schoolers, stroking and adorning their figures. The brunette fluttered his eyes closed and puckered his lips, waiting for the tangibility of your soft li-

"U-Ugh..." Oikawa groaned out from the annoying sound of his alarm clock. He cracked an eye open, wincing from the bright light coming from his sliding window, and opened them fully once he realized all that happened moments ago was only a dream.

"GOD FLIPPING DAMN IT!"
