Chapter Seven

Serena's P.O.V.

Shortly after Aidan left, I dipped into some of the snacks I had in my backpack while I finished school. Just as I clicked out of the school's website, I heard a knock on the trailer door. My ears perked up, and I wondered if Aidan had forgotten something. But when I opened the door, I saw it was Cameron and T.J. "Hey guys! What's up?" I asked, inviting them inside.

"We just wanted to see how you were doing and hang out for a while," T.J answered, plopping down on the sofa. Cameron and I took a seat next to her. "You know, you guys are so lucky to be on a show like this! You guys play your parts perfectly!" I smiled at the two of them. "Thank you!" Cameron smiled. "I bet it must be pretty fun being a singer! I wish I could sing, but I don't have the confidence," T.J. looked over at me.

Despite her smiling, I could see in her face she looked a little sad when she mentioned it. "I'm sure you sing beautifully!" I reassured her. She looked up at me, and her smile became a little more genuine. "Well, I guess I could give it a shot," she shrugged. She scrolled through her phone and found some music, and when T.J. started singing, I was stunned. I knew she could do it, and I was pleased with myself for giving her the confidence. I liked everybody I met that day, but I had a feeling that Robert, T.J, and Cameron were going to be my closest friends besides Aidan.

"Was I okay?" she asked when she finished singing. "T.J, that was awesome!" I smiled. Her cheeks began to turn a bright pink, and she was trying her best to hide it. "T.J, I had no idea that you could sing!" Cameron smiled at her. "Guys, stop! You're making me blush!" she said, turning a shade brighter. There was an awkward amount of silence after that, and I had no idea who was going to break it.

"So, tell us a little about yourself, Serena. Where are you from?" Cameron asked. "I'm from Los Angeles. You guys are from Canada, correct?" I asked. They both nodded, and they talked a little about themselves as well. Their interests, favorite movies, and other things that I never knew before. "Your turn, Serena," T.J. smiled. I didn't want to bring up the fact that my parents were dead or the abuse Aunt Mary and the gremlins put me through unless they brought up my parents. Not that I didn't trust them, but because I was trying to put the past behind me.  Instead, I focused on some of the things I liked to do with Aidan, Vanessa, and Ethan.

"Well, I used to go to River Wren High, and now I'm doing school online because of this trip. But, I still get to talk to my friends, Ethan and Vanessa regularly," I explained. "They must be nice people," T.J. nodded. "They are. They've gotten me out of some tough situations before," T.J. asked if she could see what they looked like, and I pulled up a picture of the three of us from the day before we left for Toronto. Even thinking about them brought tears to my eyes because of how much I missed them.

"I think I recognize her from her profile picture. She made a few comments on some of my lives. I think her username is Vanessa, something Aidan's army?" T.J. looked up at me, asking for clarification. "Yeah, it's VanessaYoung.Aidan'sarmy. She's also a big fan of you T.J," I smiled. She scrolled through Instagram and typed in her username. "Well, I wonder how she'll react when she finds out that I requested to follow her!" She smiled, showing Cameron and me what she had done.

"T.J, that's so sweet of you! Thank you!" I smiled. "Hey, no problem! What's your Insta so I can follow you?" she smiled. I gave her and Cameron my Insta, and we continued talking to each other for a few hours while Aidan continued working on whatever he was doing. "Are you going to be performing any shows while you're here in Toronto?" A smile was trying to creep across my face as I was trying to hide the good news. But I couldn't hold it in anymore. It was just too exciting.

"Well, I got a call a little while ago from The Rockpile, and they wanted me to perform for them in a few weeks," I admitted. T.J. started squealing and almost immediately pulled me into a hug. "Oh my god! I would love to come! When will it be?" "Well, they said they want me there on January 18th, I just have to get the okay from my label before it's official," I answered.

I made them promise not to say anything to anybody, and they gave me their word. When I looked outside the trailer window, I saw that the sun had set. And that it was now Seven at night. "Well, I should give my mom a call and let her know that I'll be home soon, but it was nice hanging out with you, Serena! Can't wait for that concert!" T.J. said as she stood up and grabbed her stuff.

"I should probably get going too. Hopefully, we can do this again soon," Cameron smiled. "Yeah, me too!" I chuckled softly.
