-Venomous-
(season two, episode five)

The night Joey went to Jenson's did not go how she expected it to go. She had planned to ask him what he knew about the girl she had seen in her dreams. Abby. The girl seemed to know him, and if Joey could get any information on the person invading her dreams, maybe she could understand the boy who had appeared in her life.

There was no doubt in her mind Jenson was in her life for a reason. Mainly due to the fact he showed up around the time Scott was turned.

Her heart was racing just thinking about why he was all of sudden in her life. But soon, hopefully, she would know why.

Joey took a few steps into the station. Which she had been been calling "Derek's hideout."

When she finally made it to a point where she could see in, it was a sight she figured she might see. Erica and Isaac held onto Jackson's arms, as Derek questioned him.

( Joeys POV )

"Maybe while you were curled in the corner having an existential crisis about turning into a monster, I was preparing-" Jackson's voice was so annoying, I couldn't bare not interrupting.

"I don't think you have to be a monster to have an existential crisis, Jackson." I called out.

Each of their heads turned to me.

"Sorry to interrupt... Just wondering why, you need to hide in a cave like batman." I chuckled.

Derek laughed humorously, definitely not finding me funny. "I miss when you were nicer, Jo."

"Me too. But sometimes you have to change to survive-" I cut myself off to grab a piece of glass off the ground. "He's not the snake you're looking for. He's just a normal snake."

I handed the glass to Isaac.

Isaac quickly dropped some venom into it and let it drop into Jackson's mouth and stood back. Jackson fell to the ground with a groan.

Derek's voice was calm. "It's better to test and be wrong then to not test at all."

I mumbled a 'yeah,' then continued. "I miss you, Derek. I don't know what's changed with you but, I miss you."

After looking around for a few minutes, I left. I didn't want to cause any fights. I just wanted to check on him and see if he was okay.

My chair squeaked as I leaned back to view the classroom door, checking for Stiles. My head was aching, and I was honestly tired of waiting any longer.

"Dude-" Stiles finally slid into his seat behind Scott. "I just talked to my dad, who talked to Jackson, and I've got really horrible, very bad, bad, news." He said quickly, making me look at him in shock.

"I think we already know, man." Scott said, turning his attention to Isaac sat a few seats in front of us.

"Can I punch him? I think I'm strong enough." I said, glancing at the boy.

Scott's voice raised an octave. "Absolutely not!"

"Hey idiots, what the hell is a Kamina?" Jackson asked, as our next class started.

"Oh shit-" I started.

"I need a volunteer at the board to answer our first question. Who's got it?" Coach asked while looking for hands.

"-Paralyzed from the neck down? Do you know how annoying that is?"

"Jo and I are familiar with the sensation, yeah." Stiles said, earning an eye roll from Jackson.

"Jackson! Do you have something you wanna share with the rest of the class?" Coach yelled.

He looked around. "Um... Just and undying admiration for my coach."

"That's really kind of you, now shut up!"

When Coach walked away, Scott pulled Stiles down by his jacket. "How do we know it's not Lydia?"

"I've looked into the eyes of pure evil, okay? When I look into Lydia's eyes, I only see fifty percent evil."

I gave him a look, asking him internally if lying was okay right now.

"All right, maybe sixty. No more than forty on a good day!"

Scott let go, his voice becoming softer. "Stiles, that's not a very good argument."

"I'm sure he's aware, but there's no way it's her. Trust me, Scott. It can't be, alright?"

"Yeah, Lydia's fine." Stiles said, patting my back gently.

Speaking of... Lydia was next to answer. Her heels clicked as she walked to the board and the chalk hit with a crunching sound.

But soon she erupted in tears, standing in front of us with a fearful expression.

EMPLEHENOEMOS.

Was written on the board.

"What is that, Greek?"

Stiles pulled open his phone and flipped a picture of the text. "No, it's definitely English."

SOMEONEHELPME.

"I miss when I was able to sleep at night without worrying about wolves and lizards." I said, leaning into Stiles as he counted out five dollars to give me for the vending machine.

He chuckled. "Yeah... Me too." Stiles put the money in my hand, and I walked a few feet to the machine, looking for what I wanted.

In the distance Scott landed next to Stiles next to the lockers. "Derek won't kill Lydia without proof."

"All right, so he tests her like he did with Jackson, right?" Stiles continues, "But when and where?"

I wait for my bag of chips to hit the bottom and when they do I grab them and walk over to my boys.

"Wanna get to class and find out?"

They both nod and we walk off, heading to science.

We walk in to be greeted with Erica and Isaac meeting our eyes. Fuck.

"They're testing her here and now guys."

Scott nods, racing with Stiles to sit next to Lydia before the rat pack does. They make it in time, looking at each other and back to me awkwardly.

Before I can even move to sit near them, a voice fills my ears.

"Hey Jo, I'm glad you're okay."

My head whips to the corner of the class where a white-haired girl is sitting. Abby.

Stiles looks at me with a weird look. Waiting for me to join him and Scott.

My feet drag me to the back. To an empty seat next to her.

"Abby? You're here?" I ask, reaching for her.

She meets my hand. "I wanted to see you. High school may not be my forte but you're worth it."

"I don't understand." I speak.

She smiles kindly. "You will. For now, just sit with me?"

I nod hesitantly.

"Einstein once said, two things are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe-" Mr. Harris speaks up. "I have encountered infinite stupidity, to combat this you will endure group experiments. Let's see if two heads are better than one."

"Erica, you'll take the first station-"

every boy in the class raises their hand except for Scott and Stiles.

"Start with Mr. McCall. Next two, Joey and Allison..."

His voice trailed off in my ears as I got up to join Allison's table.

"Hi, Jo." Alison smiled at me.

I smiled back. "Hi."

She lifted and poured the mysterious liquid into the glass beaker. "Can I be honest with you?"

I nod. "Of course."

She sighs. "I feel like we don't ever talk. I miss when we did earlier this year."

"Me too, Ally." I put my hand over hers and look into her eyes. "I miss being your friend."

She smiles large and pulls me into a hug. "Don't ever leave me, okay?"

I laugh. "I won't, I promise."

After ten minutes Mr. Harris tells us all to switch.

I sit next to Scott, but I can feel Isaac staring into the back of my head. I can feel his anger.

•.• (third person)

"If you harm one hair on either of my girls' heads, I'm gonna turn your little werewolf ass into a fur coat." Stiles threatens while doing the experiment.

"If I remember correctly, Joey isn't your girl. In fact, you guys just totally ignored your kiss." He laughs.

Stiles almost growls at the comment. "Why don't you channel all that pessimistic energy into English class. Get it all out."

Stiles knew was Isaac was trying to do. He wanted to fill his head with doubts. Even though they never talked about the kiss really, didn't mean he forgot about it. He was just scared.

"Nah... I think I'll just channel it into killing them. I'm not very good at writing."

DING !

Next switch.

Stiles joined Joey at her table, smiling with the best effort he could give.

"You, okay?" He asked.

Joey nods. "Yeah, just trying to get through this nightmare. How about you?"

He also nods.

Everyone was nodding today.

"I'm kinda dreading what's gonna happen over there-" He points to Isaac and Lydia. "Other than that, I'm just glad to finally be sitting with you."

"Can we talk-"

"Lydia!" Scott shouts.

Everyone's attention is turned to him.

"What?" She asks, confused.

The crunch filled Joey's ears. Double fuck.

•.•

"Derek's outside waiting for Lydia." Scott reveals.

Allison scoffs. "Waiting to kill her?"

"If he thinks she's the Kanima, then yes."

"It's not her." Stiles says, Joey nodding with him.

"She didn't pass the test, man. Nothing happened."

"It can't be her." Joey agrees.

"That doesn't matter, Jo. Derek thinks it's her, so either we convince him he's wrong or we have to figure out how to protect her." Allison says.

"I can talk to Derek. Try to convince him it's not her- If anything happens you guys have to let me handle it, okay?"

"What does that mean?" She responds.

"You can't heal like I do."

Allison shakes her head and pulls a crossbow out of the bag, aiming it towards the air. "I can take care of myself."

Stiles rolls his eyes and pulls Joey to him.

"Jo, don't get hurt, okay? We don't understand what's going on with you so what if you can't heal?"

Joey rubs his arm. "I'll be okay. Don't worry."

A smile covers his face but it's not reaching his eyes. "I always worry."

The boy hugs her tight. There was more he wanted to say but the words just didn't come out.

•.•

Joey and Stiles trailed behind Lydia through the library, making sure no one touched her.

then they followed her through the halls and basically everywhere.

"Why are you guys following me?"

Joey laughed loudly. "We just uh..."

"We need you to come with us- to meet someone." Stiles followed up.

"Why couldn't they meet me in the library when we were there?"

"Good question!" Joey said, holding Lydia's backpack. "Too late now to know."

•.•

Stiles drove Jackson, Joey, Lydia, and Allison to Scott's house to 'study.'

"If we're studying at Scott's, where is Scott?"

Stiles closed the blinds and met Lydia's eyes. "Uh, on his way. Meeting us here."

"Lydia come with me. We need to talk." Jackson led the girl upstairs.

after a while Scott still hadn't shown up.

"Scott, you need to get here now." Allison says into her phone before hanging up.

Joey's eyes trailed the sidewalk across the road, through the window. Her eyes meet Derek's. A shiver runs down her spine. It's almost as if he is looking right through her.

"I've got an idea-" Both girls turn to Stiles who is nervously looking out the window. "Shoot one of them."

Allison scoffs at him. "Are you serious?"

He shrugs. "We told Scott we could protect ourselves so, let's do it." Then, he turns to Joey. "We should give it a shot, right?"

Joey knew what he was saying. Try your powers. Stiles knew she wasn't evil incarnate. Hell, anyone did if you just talked to her. She just needed a push to unleash whatever else she had in her.

"What's that look for?" Allison asked, nodding to Stiles.

He laughed nervously. "If this works... Don't panic."

Joey watched Allison ignore him and raise her bow, ready to shoot. "There's only three now."

"What? Where's Isaac?" He asked, looking out.

Panicking, Allison fires the bow but before it can go through the window, a blue mist surrounds the arrow, holding it in place in the air.

The brunette lets out a small squeak upon seeing the mist.

Both of the blonde's friends turn as the arrows soars through the air and hits Isaac in the shoulder, just grazing him.

The boy laughs at her attempt. "That's a new development."

Minutes pass of the two tossing things, and throwing hits but Scott jumps in and pulls Isaac to the ground, dragging Erica along with him from upstairs. He nods to Joey. "Grab him."

She nods, questioning whether he saw her powers but ultimately ignoring it for now.

The two drag their own wolf to the porch with Allison and Stiles following. They throw them into the grass by Derek and look into his eyes. Derek is only looking at Joey.

"I think I finally understand why you keep refusing me, Scott. You're already an alpha of your own pack." He smirks at the younger wolf, ignoring the ones on the ground beside him. "But you know you can't beat me."

Scott shakes his head. "No... But I can hold you off until the cops get here."

Sirens fill the night atmosphere.

Above them, the Kanima emerges from an upstairs window, Lydia following out the front door.

"Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?" She shouts at the groups.

Scott's face turns into shock mixed with disbelief. "It's Jackson."
