12.2 We are screwed

“How we doin’?”

“Another day in paradise,” The officer said to the guy that walked into the small office in the back of one of the police trucks. “No one’s come out yet?” The guy asked, taking his jacket off. “This guy locked himself in. First thing he did,”

The man chuckled, “All right, cut the power,”

💽

Ronald chuckled as the two Winchester with him walked into the main lobby. “What are you, nuts?” Dean asked looking back at him.

“That’s just it, I’m not nuts. I mean, I was so scared that I was losing my marbles, but this is real.” He said as the youngest tilted her head, “Huh, usually when people find out they are rocking themselves back and forth in a corner.”

“I mean, I-I was right.” He said dismissing her comment, “Except for the man-droid thing. Thank you,”

“Yeah, don’t mention it,” He replied just as the lights and all the power in the building shut off. “Damn it,” She cursed just as the back up lights turned on leaving the room barely lit. “No, no, no, no, no.” The oldest chined in.

“What is it?”

“They cut the power. It’s probably their way of saying hi.” The oldest informed, “Who?” Ronald asked. “Cops, “Both siblings said, still walking. “The cops?” He asked, making both of them turn towards them. “You weren’t exactly a smooth criminal about this, Ron. I mean you didn’t even secure the security guard. He probably called them,” He informed.

“Well, I didn’t think to--”

“Hang on.” Dean said cutting him off. “Let’s just take a breather for a second. They probably got us surrounded.”

“They cut the power to the cameras, so there’s no way of telling who the shapeshifter is. It’s not looking good, Ron.” She said looking around before going to walk off only hearing something in the distance. “Did you hear that?

💽

“Oh, my g--you saved us! You saved us!” The woman started to say only to stop when she saw Dean holding a gun. Carmen popped her head in as the vault door opened half way. “Actually We just found a few more.” She informed seeing her smile disappear.

“Come on, everybody, let’s go. Let’s go,” He said, getting everyone else into the vault.

“What are you doing?”

“Sam, we need to talk to you like now.” She said and once he was out Dean shut the vault.

The siblings and Ronald walked back out towards the main area. “It shed its skin again, we don’t know when. Could be in the halls, the vault.” Dean informed Sam, “Great,” he said before he scoffed, “You know Dean, you are wanted by the police.” He remind.

“Yeah, Carmen already ringed my ass about that,”

“So even if we do find this damn thing, How the hell are we gonna get out of here?” Sam said as Carmen shook her head in agreement.

“One problem at a time. I’m gonna do a sweep of the whole place, see if I can find any stragglers. Once we get everyone together, we got to play a little game of ‘find the freak’. So here-” He rambled before handing Sam another sliver knife. “-I found another one of these for you. Now, stay here, make sure Ronald doesn’t hurt anybody. Help him manage the--”

“Help him manage?” Sam said, raising his voice. “Are you insane? Dean then gave Ronald a thumbs up to measure everything was okay. “Look, I know this isn’t going the way we wanted.”

“Understatement.”

“But if we invite the cops in right now, Ronald gets arrested, we get arrested, the shifter gets away. Probably never find it again, okay--” Dean said before Carmen hit his shoulder lightly as Sam pointed at Ron who was in the light. “Ron! Out of the light!” And he did such.

Both siblings looked at him, “Seriously?” they both asked.

“Ron’s plan was a bad plan. It was a bit of a crazy plan,” He started as both of them sighed, “But right now, crazy’s the only game in town, okay?” Dean said as he started to walk off.

“Wait,” Carmen said as her eyes lit up widley, “I might know a solution to a few of our problems.” She said before they went towards the woman’s bathroom and saw a small window. She glanced back making sure her brothers were back she then faced the window and closed her eyes. “Salem please tell me you are reading my mind right now.” She said before opening the window. She waited a few seconds that felt like forever.

She then shut the window just as something pulled her into the corner of the room. She took a deep breath looking up to see Salem did read her mind. “Carmen?” Dean said as her eyes grew wide. “Who is that?”

“This is Salem,” She said as the two moved to either side of the window.

“No, Salem is a cat,”

She huffed as Salem gave her a look. “Look you trust me, right? And I trust Salem with my life. When I need help he’s there and if I need someone watching after you two he’s there. So please trust me,”

The two older brother’s looked at each other before looking back. “What did you have in mind?”

She smiled lightly, “Salem go with Dean and I’ll stay Sam.” She said as Salem gave her a look. “I know you don’t like him but we have bigger issues, so please let’s go.”

💽

Sam helped Carmen open the vault door, since the power was shut off she figured it must have been like a toaster oven in there. “I’m gonna keep this open, get you folks some fresh air in there, all right? But no one leaves this vault.” He said just as a phone ranged.

“I don’t understand why are you helping him?” The woman asked that she was drooling over Dean earlier.

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Carmen said perring in. “I think I got to get out of here.” The guard said. “I’m sorry but you’re just gonna have to stay put.” She said softly, giving him a sorry look.

“What do you mean, demands?” Ronald asked, making both siblings look at him on the phone. “Ronald hang up,” Sam said but he didn’t listen, “I-I’m not a bank robber.”

“I got to really get out of here.”

“Sir, you can’t leave.” Sam responded. “Kind of a crime fighter, I guess.” Ronald said still on the phone. Carmen went over and hanged the phone up then went over towards the guard who was kneeling on the floor. “Sam!” Carmen called as her and a tall darker man helped him. “I think this dude’s having a heart attack!”

“Great this could be our guy, it could be a trick.”

“Are you just gonna let him die?”

Carmen went to the vault door, “Sammy this isn’t a trick he needs a doctor.” She said as he nodded. “No one’s dying!” He said then turned back towards her, “Cover the door.” He said and then picked the phone up. “One of the people in here could be having heart trouble. You need to send in a paramedic..Just send in a paramedic, okay!? Don’t try anything else! Please,”

“Paramedic? Guy don’t have time for that, man.” The man helping the guard said.

“Listen, I-I’m sorry, okay? But nobody’s getting out.” Ronald stumbled.

“He's dying right in front of you.” The man said.

💽

Dean and Salem walked into an office, he moved the light around as Salem saw something off with the ceiling. He glanced over at the imposter Carmen, “What are you looking at?” he asked even though he knew he wasn’t going to respond. He followed his look seeing the same mistake in the ceiling.

He then grabbed a coat rack as Salem backed up watching him push the tile, but ended up making the whole ceiling fall through. A body fell revealing that the same tall balck man that was helping the guard in the vault was the shapeshifter.

💽

“Come on, man. You got to unlock the front door. We gotta get him out of here.” The shifter said just as Ronald pointed his gun at them. “Both of you stay where you are!”

Dean and Salem walked in as Sam and Carmen walked closer to them catching them up on what happened. “You know what, Ronald?” Sam said walking up to him as the two other siblings followed. “He’s right, we got to get this man outside.” He said walking in. “Come on, I got you,”

“I’ll help you.” The shifter said.

Sam looked up, “Oh, I got him it’s cool. Thanks. Watch your step.” He said taking the guard out. “Thank you,” The guard said out of breath. “Sure, Sam said as Carmen helped him out, “Let’s just get up these steps.” She said.

While Dean and Salem stayed down in the vault with Ronald. Dean walked to the vault, “Hey, can I talk to you for a second?” He asked.

The shifter scoffed, “You have the gun, man. Whatever.” He said walking up to him before pushing both him and Salem into the door. “Stop! Come back here!” Dean yelled as Carmen and Sam saw the shifter run off. Ronald was right behind him and he stood in the middle of the main area as a red laser showed up on his back. Carmen knew what would happen and that’s why her hearing went. As the siblings watched a bullet go through his back and to his heart.

Camren helped the guard down, making sure he wasn’t going to get hurt. While Sam went towards Dean who was stuck behind a counter. She then looked to see Sam run after the shifter, “Damn it Sammy,”

💽

Carmen watched as Dean got the guard out and quickly backed up as she locked the doors. “We are so screwed,” She muttered seeing all the people outside. “You can say that again,” He said.

The two then walked back to the main lobby as Dean’s phone started to ring. “Yeah?” He said, putting the speaker on. “Slipped his skin,” Both of them stopped, “What?” they asked. “Yeah, bastard shifts fast, a lot faster than the one in St. Louis.

“It’s like playing a shell game. It could be anybody again.” Dean said, rubbing his face.

I think most of the employees are in the vault.”

“You search every inch of this place. We’re gonna go round everyone up.” Dean said before hanging up. The two went down to the vault and watched as everyone filled in. “And I thought you were one of the good guys.” The woman from earlier said.

“What’s your name?”

“Why do you care?”

“My name’s Dean. This is Carmen,” He said pointing toward Carmen right next to her. “I’m Sheri,” She said, keeping her arms crossed. “Hi, Sheri. Everything's gonna be alright. This will all be over soon, okay?” He said as him and Carmen walked out. Carmen went to the phone as he shut the vault door. “Yeah,” She said.

This is Special Agent Victor Hendrickson.

“Yeah I’m not really in a negotiating mood right now-” She said before getting cut off, “Good, me neither. It’s my job to bring you in -- alive’s a bonus but not necessary.” He said. “That’s a bit harsh for a federal agent, don’t you think?” She said moving the phone a bit so Dean could hear too. “Well, you’re not the typical suspect, are you Carmen?” She looked at Dean seeing his look matched her’s. “I want you, Sam and Dean out here unarmed, or we come in. And yes, I know about your brother’s -- a weird Bonnie and Clyde,”

“Yeah, well that’s part’s true, but how’d you even know were here?” Dean asked..

Go screw yourself that’s how I knew. It’s become my job to know about you and your messed up family. I’ve been looking for you for weeks now. I know about the murder in St. Louis, I know about the Houdini Act you pulled in Baltimore. I know about the desecrations and the thefts. I know about your dad,”

“You don’t know crap about my dad,”

Ex-Marine, raised his kids on the road, cheap motels, backwood cabins -- real paramilitary survivalist type. I just can’t get a handle on what type of wacko he was -- white supremist, Timmy McVeigh, tomato, tomahto.” He rambled as Carmen bit her tongue. “You got no right talking about my da like that. He was a hero,”

Yeah, right, sure sounds like it. You have one hour to make a decision, or we come through those doors full automatic.” The agent said before hanging up. Dean hand took the phone and then slammed it back on the receiver.

The two stood in silence waiting for Sam to get back. Which when he finally did they both picked their heads up. “Hey,”

“Hey, we got a bit of a problem outside.” Dean said as Sam chuckled, “We got a problem in here.” He said pointing towards the vault.

Dean opened it as Sam and Carmen stood back, “Sheri we’re gonna let you go.” He said as she showed a shocked expression, “What? Why me?” She asked. “As a show of good faith to the feds. Come on,” He said as she thought for a second, “Uh...I think I’d rather stay here with the others.”

“I’m afraid I’m gonna have to insist.”

She then went with them as Sam led them towards the body they found. “I thought you were letting me go. Oh, God!” She scammed seeing the body on the ground looking exactly like her. “Was that community theater or are you just naturally that good?” Dean asked as Sam held her still while holding their knifes. “This is the last time you become anybody, ever.” He said just as she fainted.

“Huh?” Carmen muttered seeing her passed out on the floor.

Dean then put the gun on his shoulder on the desk before bending down and was about to stab the Sheri that just passed out when Sam stopped him. “Dean, wait, wait, wait. What’s the advantage of this plan? I mean, fainting now wouldn’t help it survive.”

Dean then looked between the two Sheir’s. “Oh,” He muttered before standing up. The siblings then went towards the other Sheri, who’s throat looked like it was sliced open. Suddenly there was a crash signaling the cops were coming in. That’s when the shifter grabbed Dean’s throat and the real Shier woke up. “Oh god, no, ohh, oh!” She cried as Dean tried fighting her off. “Get her out of here now!” He said as Sam and Carmen did such.

💽

Sam and Carmen watched as two S.w.a.t officers walked her out as three stood in the small hall. Sam walked out grabbing one of their guns and overpowered them as Carmen went to the second one and kicked their legs out from under them. They then knocked the third one out at the same time.

They stripped the uniformes off and tied them up putting them into a broom closet. After the police captain and the agent found them he nodded shaking his head.

Meanwhile the three siblings got into the Impala in a nearby parking lot. They started taking the gear off as Salem jumped backseat. They all sat in silence trying to catch their breaths as they were trying to understand what just happened. “We are so screwed.” Dean said breaking the silence. He then pulled out of the parking garage leaving everything behind them.
