The room smelt like lavender. There was a woman and a man standing on either side of a round table with a bowl of mixed herbs sitting in the middle.
"A child has been born. Not as strong as the tribrid, but she will be much more than any other her age. Hope Mikaelson will need a companion."
The scene flashed for only a second but the couple were already chanting over the bowl.
Then, it shifted. This time it was more of a memory. It was the first time she met Hope.
But, it wasn't. Laya hadn't even noticed it at first. The way her visions were slowly fading. They'd started at the edges of her eyesight, but she could see it happening.
The further it got, the more rapid the memories shot at her, and the less she could remember what she was looking at. The only real thing Laya could tell anymore was that she was losing something.
The memories came even faster, more and more until it became too much. She shut her eyes holding her hands over her ears praying it would end. When it did, it was clear her vision wasn't over.
She stood in what looked like a flower shop. Slowly drifting through the store, she found a pink haired woman and man in the back room.
The woman was pacing with the bridge of her nose clenched between her thumb and her pointy finger. "This is all so messed up. If Remya would just let me meet my niece."
"I know," the man said. Laya squinted trying as hard as she could to focus on him when she finally understood who he was. It was Stefan Salvatore. That meant the woman was her aunt.
Laya had never actually met the woman. She couldn't bring herself too after everything she did to her family. Laya didn't want to be the one to tell the woman that. "She's my family!"
Laya turned back to the woman. Stepping up to her, she scanned her features. Eddie Jones was a beautiful woman. Big brown eyes, cocoa shaded skin. Laya was fond of the woman already.
Until, a hand latched onto her. Eddie leant in to the girl staring deep into her eyes. "You have to find me, Laya." Laya watched Eden's hand glow light pink, but not like regular magic. It resembled the Saltzman twins when they siphoned.
"Find us." Slowly Laya turned from her relative. She could feel herself shaking when a small girl stood in the doorway. "Find us."
โ
Laya launched forward, feeling the screams leaving her lips, but not quite hearing them. "Woah! Hey, hey, hey, it's okay. Laya, it's okay. You're okay now."
Laya clutched onto Landon not letting go until her breathing finally slowed. "What-What's going on?"
Laya scanned the room, recognizing the faces of Dorian, Rosalie, Elias, Josie, Bobbie and Barry all surrounding her bed staring down at her. Despite the fact that it was kind of sweet for them to be worried about her. It creeped her out.
The way they were all standing above her. "You had another episode, sweetheart. Are you okay?"
Laya ignored Dorian's question. Wiping the sweat from her forehead she asked, "What did I say?"
Bobbie told her before Barry added on, "We're thinking it might have something to do with your strange link with Hope."
Laya pulled her head back curiously. "Who the hell is Hope?"
The twins exchanged a worried glance. "Something's wrong."
"I just feel like maybe we should've told someone else about this." Laya and Landon Kirby stood at the doorway of the Patience Petals Florist. Neither of them eager to enter the unfamiliar place.
"My dream lead me to this place, Landon. And I know why. All this time I'd been looking for answers. I didn't even thinking about coming here. Even though my aunt Eddie probably knows much more than Dr. Saltzman ever could."
Laya paused looking back at her curly haired friend. "Um, could you maybe hold my hand through this please?" Laya was embarrassed by the question almost as soon as the words left her lips.
That'd be weird, this was Landon. Her best friend. But, she was scared. This would be the most vulnerable Landon had ever seen Laya. The hybrid who'd protected him since the very first time he made it to the Salvatore Boarding School.
Landon smiled noticing how nervous Laya had gotten after asking the question. Taking his hand in her eyes, he could feel her shaking. This might've been too much for Laya.
They stood there in the doorway for almost another minute. Laya silently prayed that no one would walk up. Ask them to get by, and make Laya move. Make her go inside.
Eddie didn't know what Laya did. She didn't know that Laya killed her family. "Hey," the hybrid looked over to the boy who was still smiling at her. "It's gonna be okay."
At those four simple words, Laya nodded heading through the lavender door. "Hi! Welcome to Patience Petals Florist!"
Standing behind the cashier, a girl with fluffy black hair smiled at them. There was something strangely familiar about her. She'd seen her before.
Laya gently tugged Landon over to the cashier. "Hi, my name is Laya. I'm looking for, um, a woman named Eddie Jones."
Azalea tilted her head at the strange couple who were asking about her mom. "She's in the back. I could go get her for you if you'd like."
They nodded in sync. "If you could that would be amazing."
As soon as the girl left Laya turned back to Landon. "I changed my mind. I don't think I can do this."
"You think maybe you shoulda said that before you told her why we were here?" Laya shoved her friend with her free hand who chuckled softly. "Seriously, it's all gonna be okay. It'sโ"
"Oh my God." At the new voiced Laya turned around just in time to be pulled into the biggest bear hug of her life. "Oh my God! Oh my God!"
Eddie pulled away kissing Laya on the forehead. "I can't believe you're here!"
โ
"Wow, so they're all gone?" Laya and Landon shook their heads simultaneously with solemn expressions. Eddie directed them to the back room which was huge for an office. They sat a coffee table whilst Laya still held tightly onto the boy sitting next to her.
"I'm, um, I'm sorry you didn't find out sooner." Eddie seemed to ponder over the thought for a moment before looking up at her niece. "Are you okay?"
Wow, Laya did not want her to ask that. The hybrid girl shook her head with glassy eyes. "There is ... so much, so much that my mom didn't tell me. So little that Dr. Saltzman even knew to begin with. And, I can't do it all."
Eddie reached across the white painted mahogany taking her niece's free hand. "I'm here. So all the questions you can ask me."
There was silence for a moment. It wasn't awkward or even comfortable really. It was simply Laya trying to figure out what to ask first. "Is there a way to make the visions stop?"
The edges of Eddie's lips lifted upwards into a smile before she darted from a room. "Wow, I think ya mighta scared her off."
Laya glared over at the boy, "That's not funny." At the daggers beaming into the side of Landon's head he nodded quickly. "No, you're so right. I make awful jokes."
Laya giggled softly. Eddie stepped back into the room with a gallon size bag of what looked to be weed. Closing the door, and blinds she laughed. "I don't need anyone thinking I'm selling drugs to minors."
"So ... that's not weed?" Landon questioned.
"Well, I mean technically. It's Gwendolyn root." Laya and Landon exchanged a confused glimpse. "I'll take partial responsibility for Dr. Saltzman not knowing what this is. To be fair, I didn't actually expect your mom to let you go to the school. Or any prophecy witch so show up at all to be honest."
Eddie sat the bag down in front of Laya. "So this ... this makes the visions go away? And I smoke it like normal weed?" Eddie nodded, "And I don't have to pay for it?"
"Kid, I'm not a drug dealer. Anyone I can help, I will."
"Why?"
"I went through the same things you're going through when I was teen. I was a normal witch, and then I started to get prophecy and everything got different. It was like everyone had been expecting me to go crazy the whole time."
"And were you? Crazy?" Eddie laughed at the question, and the genuine curiosity in her niece's eyes. "Probably."
Before Laya could answer, the door opened once more revealing a figure that left Laya and Landon's jaw on the floor. Landon leant over, "We are literally staring at Stefan Salvatore right now."
"I know!"
Stefan smiled at the kids, "Stefan, this is Laya and her boyfriend Landon."
"Oh, no. He's not my boyfriend. We're friends. My boyfriend's kinda busy at the moment." Landon nodded to all of Laya's words.
"You're Kelaya Jones?" The hybrid nodded wondering how the hell Stefan Salvatore knew her name. "Wow, this great. Your aunt has been dying to meet you for years now."
Eddie beamed at her husband, "I'm helping Laya get through her first year as a Prophetiae."
"Ooh, that's gotta suck. It was awful for Eddie." The raven haired woman nodded at the teens. "Thank God for Kol Mikaelson."
"Wow, I never thought I'd hear those words," Stefan simpered sitting next to his wife. "I'm sorry? How do you know Kol Mikaelson."
"Oh! Lesson number two. There's an old spell, it's rare for anyone outside of the coven to know it. If you can't understand the prophecy that you've foretold, you can grant someone else access to your mind. It would have to be someone you trust; someone to navigate your visions. I call them dream guides."
Laya bit her tongue the pieces slowly being put into place. "And can someone else cast this spell for you?"
"Oh, I don't know. I mean, possibly a relative." Laya nodded, "What do you guys know about Kai Parker?"
The couple's face dropped almost instantaneously. "Why are you asking about Kai?"
"Oh, uh, I read about him once. And was wondering what it was like to know him." Eddie sighed leaning back in her chair. "Kai was an awful person. A sociopath who killed for fun."
Laya bit her tongue. There's been a damn sociopath just nesting in her brain. "I hated him. But ... my best friend ... she was in love with him. I think some sick part of him loved her too. And when Talia died, we adopted Azalea."
"Azalea is Kai Parker's daughter?" If Laya could explain how brain bombing this visit with her estranged aunt was, it would be in many many words because this was insane.
Laya remembered part of the end of her dream. How her aunt's hand glowed like she was siphoning Laya. "And you're also siphon?"
"What? Oh, no."
Landon could practically see the gears churning in her mind. The hybrid simply wondering why she saw that in her vision. "Is Azalea?"
"No, unfortunately Azalea's incredibly human." Stefan told them with a subtle snark. That's not true.

The next day there was a school assembly to introduce the Salvatore school's new headmaster. Laya was finally finding the answers to why her life was falling apart, and she had to go to a damn school assembly.
Maybe this was a disguised miracle. She smoked the Gwendolyn root, and now she didn't have to worry about Kai anymore. Still, she felt like maybe she should still be worrying about him.
"This school has survived a difficult year." Laya snorted at the irony of hearing that from a stranger. "There were monsters, and Triad. And frankly, the headmaster you trusted to keep you safe ended up putting you in more danger. But, this year will be different. It's high time this place ran with discipline and order."
Laya watched him earnestly when their vision met. Laya couldn't quite describe it, but there was something about this guy that she didn't like.
"I expect you to work harder than ever before, to be rigorous, to push yourselves to be perfect ... because I believe everyone of you is extraordinary. The students in this room literally have the power to change the world. To whom much is given, much is required. And I am requiring of you to be better than humans ever could. Because; the day is coming when we will step out of the shadows, when you will no longer hide yourselves because the future is ..."
The student collectively gasped and awed when Dr. Vardemus stomped his cane into the ground. A blue energy expelled from the action drifting along the floor before rising up. "... Supernatural."
Kids cheered at the insinuation. If there was one thing to gain the collective interest of a group of supernatural beings, it was living out in the open. Laya knew that would be unlikely.
Vardemus left his cane standing in its place for skipping back to the podium. "To that end, I would like to award our Salvatore medal of freedom to the student who single-handedly defeated Malivore. Mr. Landon Kirby."
Landon peered over at Laya, a nervous glint in his eye to which he earned a reassuring smile. Landon liked that smile.
Laya watched proudly as he took that medal. He deserved it, even if Landon didn't think so.
It was time for Magical Biology. Which was now taught by Dr. Vardemus. Sitting next to Jed, Laya ignored Landon's psst's from the desk next to them. Knowing he was going to ask about the events from the day prior.
"How does the existence of dragons, dryads, and phoenixes change what we know about magical biology?"
Vardemus didn't give any time for the students to answer before he answered hisself, "It could be the discovery a lifetime."
"He is such a pompous ass," Josie smirked whispering to Landon. Laya nodded from her spot. "At least he hasn't tried to kill us all yet."
Laya nudged Jed in the rib with her elbow. "My dad wasn't trying to kill anyone!" Josie whisper yelled. "He was ..." Noticing the awkward glances from Landon and Laya, she stopped. "... Nevermind."
Laya mindlessly grabbed her pencil scribbling down the words from two days prior.
Despite Laya learning as much as she did from the twins and her aunt, there were still so many questions. Why prodigal children, and not just child? What did that even mean? Was Azalea a siphon or not? Who broke Laya's mental tie with Hope, and why? And who cast the spell that made Kai Laya's dream guide? Eddie definitely didn't do it, and it's not Laya had any other family that was alive. Right?
Laya huffed slamming shut her notebook and hopefully the metaphorical gates to her very much overflowing brain. The girls sitting in front of the two wolves gasped for throwing her chair back, and rushing out of the room clutching a bloody nose.
Laya shook her head silently. What the hell was going on in this school?
When Landon asked Laya if she wanted to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie, she happily obliged. Laya wasn't sure why he asked, but they had already visited Rafael, and all of their classes were over.
So, there they were. "You know, I'm just not sure Megan Fox as April is comically accurate." Landon stated shoving popcorn in his mouth by the fist full. "Who cares if she's hot?"
Landon laughed before slapping Laya on the shoulder. "Wait ... does TMNT even have comic books?"
"Of course, dude. Have you never read Batman versus Ninja Turtles?"
"What? There's no way that's a thing."
"It's so a thing. Oh my God, I can believe a nerd like you hasn't heard of it."
"You know it kinda makes you more of nerd for knowing of it."
"Doesn't mean I'm a nerd. Just means I have good taste. And before you ask, yes. We are watching the movie adaptation after this." Landon laughed from the bed on the other side of Laya's room.
Laya couldn't quite remember why she had two beds to begin with, but it was nice to have a friend with her. "Okay, but who wins?"
"Pfft, I'm not telling you."
A few moments went by where the two went back to watching their movie when Laya finally added, "Batman. But ONLY because they totally nerfed the turtles to make Batman look cooler."
Laya eyeballed Landon. In the simplest of terms, shit was bad really bad. But for the night, she felt happy. Well, at least halfway there.
HERMOINE'S
โHARANGUEโ
Okey so a little explanation. Clearly this fic is not completely canon compliant because Stefan is still very much alive. The reason as to why will be in another book I plan on writing. And yes, I know. Ew Hermoine you never even actually update. Trust me, I know.
But because that explanation didn't feel like it made sense, if there's anything you don't understand it's because I'm not just editing the story. I'm trying to rewrite in not such a shotty way.
Anyways, what do you think of Eddie. I think she's fracking hawt ๐ฅต. And Azalea's first appearance big oof.
Also, part of the reason why the storyline is so choppy is because Laya is forgetting stuff which reiterates the insane part.
So, what do you think of this chapter?
Make sure not to be a silent reader.
