Laya's p.o.v.

Everything's different now. Fictional tales of monsters, and magical creatures were brought to life by the theft of the stupid-not stupid knife. Dragons, statues, big spider's, and more came from the hole that is Malivore. My life's always been one long sad story. The Salvatore School made it better for me though, I was happy again. And then, Landon found out the truth about his mom, and bad things started to happen. Like the men sawing away at our gates. If only I would've known what my warning meant. I could've done something. Anything.

ย  Hope hasn't found out about my episode yet. She's been focused on Landon who's now in trouble. I promised I'd help her, even if Dr. Saltzman doesn't give me permission. I'm skipping down the halls now, my only good thoughts being of last night's events.ย

I pushed the long sleek wooden door open to his office, "Dr. Saltzman!" He wasn't there, but I did find a sticky note on his desk.

I need Dorian's help.

So, if he's gone, then I don't need permission, right? I shrugged skipping back to my room too. Hope asked me to pack supplies, so that's the plan. I threw random things into a yellow backpack with painted on sunflowers. "I'm coming." I spun around to Rafael's voice.

"Hello to you, too. Uh, no your not." Rafael wasn't listening to me, "Look, last time was a disaster." I shoved the last thing, and to my bag, and zipped it close. "Except for, Hope, and I aren't gonna go alone this time. She's drafted the twins, Mg, Kaleb, we're going before Dr. Saltzman comes back, it'll be like a Super Squad assemble. I don't know, is that a thing? I'll ask Mg." I chuckled softly at my own words grabbing a picture of my brothers from under my lamp, and shoving it into my pocket.

"Yeah, I'll ask him myself." I turned around, "Raf, I know about the side effects. I'm sorry, but I can't let you go." He glared to the side crossing his arms over his chest. I felt bad for him, I know what it's like to not be able to control yourself.

I dropped my bag back onto my bed. "How do you feel now?" "How do you feel?" I stared at him coldly, and he sighed before sitting down on my bed. "Like my brain's split down the middle." I gulped knowing that feeling "I keep having these flashes like I can't control myself, and-"

"That's why your not coming on the mission." He scoffed, and I sat down in front of him. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" I watched him intently seeing the pain in his eyes. "I was worried about you. Since Spring break, I've seen your episodes. I've never felt worried about someone like that, other than Landon, and the more I try to push it down, to keep it from you, and what just makes the split in my brain worse. Which makes it harder to hide. And, the only person that I want to talk about with is the one I'm terrified for."

He looked down, and suddenly I was feeling guilty for things I couldn't even control. "Raf." He looked up to me, "Your a great brother, but for once you need to put yourself first. Do what you need to get better. And, don't worry about me, I'm fine, okay?" I have to give it to him, "If things get really bad," I stood up, and walked over to my dresser pulling out the top drawer.

I took the necklace Hope gave me, and handed it to him, "Use this. It's a long story, but um, Hope gave it to me when I first got here, it's essentially like a reverse Kyanite ring. When you use it, you can turn yourself at will. In your wolf mind things are less complicated, you know that. It'll buy you time to heal. Only catch is-um- you can't turn yourself back, so if want to turn back, all you have to do is go to Hope." Rafael nodded before chuckling softly.

"I'm really glad I know you, and I'm really glad your my girlfriend." I laughed "Now, Go. Go save our boy, and don't let anything stop you." Rafael smiled softly, "But more than anything, be careful, babe." He stood up placing a kiss on my forehead.

The next morning.

Rafael wanted to walk me to he door. When I asked why, he said it was a boyfriend thing to do. I've never had a boyfriend before Raf, so I wasn't exactly sure at first, but I was happy he did.

I heard a low growl come from my left, and when I looked over Raf's eyes glowed bright yellow. "Hey, you okay?" He blinked out of the glow, and turned to me, "Um, my mind still won't settle down. Look, I'm sorry but I can't join the fight." I smiled sorry at him. A small part of me worried about saying the wrong thing, like I said, I've never had a boyfriend before, and I didn't want to scare him off.

"It's okay. Don't worry, I'm not going alone. Super Squad answered Hope's bat signal." I pointed to his left where, Hope, Kaleb, Jed, and Jose walked over. Lizzie stepped up at the same time as her sisterย  "She's coming?" They spoke in unison.

"I need all the help I can get, so please put your twin war on pause." I smiled at Hope in greeting, and she replicated the gesture. "Why is he going? He hates Landon." Rafael was glaring at Jed, "Look, your the alpha. If Landon's your pack, that makes him ours." I nodded taking Rafael's hand causing him to look down at me. It's okay, I mouthed.

He breathed out a huff, and Kaleb spoke up. "Where's Mg?" I looked around noticing the quirky vampire didn't show up. "He's on his way." Hope informed "Let's load up why we wait for him, come on." The five walked away,ย  and I watched as Jed sent one last glance to Raf.

"Hey," Rafael looked down at me again, "I don't want you to leave." I chuckled softly "I have to. Save Landon, remember?" He laughed "Don't have to much fun without me."

ย  "Bye, Raf." He waved at me, and I waved back catching up with the "Super Squad" before they even made it out the door. I don't know what I expected, but it was definitely not what I got. At least fifty men stood their holding up guns, and shields with an evil logo printed on them.

Triad.

ย  "Awe, sorry. We were just about to knock ." I didn't know what to do, I stood there absolutely confused. "Who are you?" The man was smirking "The name's Burr; Triad Industries." Hope wasn't having it, her hands spun in the air as she enchanted her spell, "Propellioe."

Nothing happened. Why is nothing happening?

I walked up to a thin man with chocolate colored hair, and matching eyes. "You have to tell them, Laya. You have to warn them that their coming." I stared at him confused. "What do you mean? Who are you?"

"My name is Kai - but that's not important. Laya, you have to warn them. Their coming."

Their coming.

Their not coming.

Their already here. "I got this." Kaleb dropped his bag "Kaleb Wait!" I didn't warn him in time. Kaleb hissed in pain when his hand came in contact with the sunlight. "What you don't got, is magic. Which is why your daylight ring won't work. And, what we have are stakes, wolfsbane, and other things. So, I think you should invite us inside."

I should've known. I should've put it together faster. It should've clicked when Hope told me Triad had Landon. They had piled into the main hall. Hope was standing next to me with my hand in hers. I don't know where Rafael is. 'Why didn't you tell me you had an episode?' 'Can we talk about this later?'

Before she could answer, the man named Burr began to speak. "We're looking for an artifact known as the Chalice of Arithmea." Men placed pictures of the chalice in front of the students sitting at the tables. "We have reason to believe it's part of your school's collection. Now, you know this place a lot better than we do, so the sooner you help us find it, the sooner we'll be gone. Triad thanks you for your time."

Josie turned back to us, and we both nodded. As soon as we were sure we could get past the Triad men undetected, we headed for Dr. Saltzman's office along with Lizzie. Hope tried the phone on his desk, "Phone's dead, we'll have to find the school cell."

"Why don't you look through Mg's tightie whities." I didn't get it, but Josie was offended by that statement. "Really? This is serious." Lizzie helped Josie look through Dr. Saltzman's desk.

"Oh, I'm sorry. We can't all be born with resting concerned pouty face." I tried not to pay attention when a small voice pointed something out at me. The second shelf. I looked up, "Didn't this shelf used to have books on it?" I questioned noticed a red box sitting in the middle of it.

Hope walked over to my side, "Yeah. That's weird." I picked it up placing it on Dr. Saltzman's desk. I stared at it trying to open it, "Whatever their doing to block out our magic, must've knocked out a cloaking spell your dad had." I nodded to Hope.

"Big shocker. Dad's hiding something from us." Lizzie grabbed the box shaking it up, and down. "Unless it has the school phone in it, it's not that important." Once again, I nodded to Hope, and spun around looking for the phone. "Sorry, I don't feel like laughing when my world's falling apart."

"Your world? What about my world? I'm the one who's actually gonna be absorbed by my own twin." I opened random drawers looking for any sign of the cell, "If you lose the Merge."

"Which I'm obviously going too. I'm the weak, and broken one." That man from my dream, Kai. He told me about the Merge. I don't know why, but he did. "And like clockwork, victim." My hand fell on IPhone with a blue case, and the school crest printed on it in gold. "Hey, Guys. Found it." Hope turned to me, and I held it up for her. "You talk. I'm not in the mood for talking to Dr. Saltzman."

She clicked a few buttons before holding the cellular device to her ear. I trained my earring on the sounds coming from the phone, "Well, whoever this is gets extra credit."

"It's Hope. Triad's here." I could hear Dr. Saltzman talking "Is everyone okay?" "Yeah, but our powers are gone." Dr. Saltzman was quiet for a minute vote asking, "What do they want?"

"They said the third artifact is in the school somewhere." "Your kidding." "The chalice of Arithmetic, or something." "Arithmea." I corrected. "Chalice of Arithmea."

"We don't have the chalice or Arithmea do we?" Who's Dr. Saltzman talking to? "I'd have to check the armory records, but not to my knowledge." Dorian?! Oh my god Dr. Saltzman's found Dorian. How could I forget that's where he's going?

"Listen, I-uh I've gotta find my way into the school, but just promise me your not gonna do anything crazy." I chuckled softly "We're not just the only ones in danger, Landon is too. I can't just stand here, and do nothing."

"Hope, for once in your life, could you please just listen to me? If Triad wants the chalice, help them get the Chalice. You don't have your powers, you are vulnerable, and if you try to resist, someone could get hurt. Do you understand me?" Hope looked at me, and I could see the rebellious gleam shining in her eyes. "Yeah." She hung up the phone. "So what crazy thing are we gonna do?"

No one seemed to understand my sarcastic enthusiasm, and Lizzie completely ignored me. "What do we do now." "Now," Hope started "We figure out a way to get our powers back, and we kick some paramilitary butt."

"Wait, dad said not do anything crazy." Hope sighed "Me defying your dad isn't crazy, it's consistent." The doors opened, and when I looked over, it was the one person I was hoping it wouldn't be. "Well, at least we know where you stand." I laughed coldly "Dang, straight we do."

"Your not very scared of me are you?" I stayed quiet when he pulled out a gun causing me to chuckle. "How about now?" That little voice was back against You need to be careful, Laya. It wasn't you think it is. I ignored it, "That's your plan? Your gonna shoot a kid?" I should've just listened to the voice.

"This gun would never harm a human child. You four, however," he cocked the gun, "These bullets, are formed from the mud of the Malivore Pit, weaponized by Triad scientists. It can break the skin of any supernatural like a hot knife through butter. Fester, infect them, disintegrate them from the inside out." I gulped quietly "We don't know where the Chalice is." Josie stated calmly.

"I believe you. This is just for fun, really." He held the gun up to us, "Eenie meenie minie ..." "Moe." Lizzie stepped forward, and before I could even do anything, I watched Josie launch herself forward in front of her twin. Two shots rang out as I caught Josie, and placed her gently on the ground.

A black circle was punched into her chest. Lizzie's jaw dropped, and she began to cry. "It's okay." I whispered, even though I couldn't tell if it was really gonna be okay. Josie was shot, Triad's overrun our school, and we don't have any powers to stop it.

"Lock 'em up."

I've always hated irony. The werewolf transition cellars were put in the basement of our school to protect us by keeping the wolves contained. We locked Landon in here when compulsion didn't work, and now, Triad has us locked in here.

"God, What is wrong with you?" I sat in the corner of the cell watching things go down. Hope spun around from her spot where she stood near the gates watching the guards. "With me? Your the one that practically begged him to shoot you." I stood up.

"I hate this." I whispered, so softly I don't think anyone heard me. That, or they just didn't care what I thought. "Because if I'm gonna die in my prime, it may as well be in a blaze of hero glory." I tried at the bars pulling them with all my force. I could even feel my eyes change, but nothing happened. You'd think for something so rusted, the gate wouldn't be so strong.

"You are unbelievably selfish." I turned to them. 'We need to do something' Hope turned to me before tilting her head 'I'm up for suggestions' "Who took it upon herself to dive in front of my bullet. I thought your codependent days were over." 'Anything, but sitting here, and listening to these two' I could hear Hope snort softly.

"A regrettable relapse." Lizzie gently touched the wound on Josie's chest causing her to wince. The guard banged a stick onto the bars, "Hey, keep it quiet in there."

I rolled my eyes at the man, "We're not in the prison yard, idiot." The man took that as his cue to leave, and spun around. Hope sat down next to Lizzie, and Josie. "You guys, I'm so sorry. I mean I dragged you all into this, and I have absolutely no idea how to get us out of it."

"Well, That is just not good enough, Hope."

"Lizzie." I warned. She looked up to me before turning back to my desperate best friend. "My sister is clearly dying, and we did not wait years to become friends with you two, for you to not come through with your annoyingly perfect best friend heroics when we need you the most." I could feel my eyebrows raised. I've never been told anything as sweet as that.

I've never been compared to Hope Mikaelson. I don't want to be compared to Hope Mikaelson, but the compliment felt good. Lizzie held out her hand for Hope who took it with a small smile. Josie held out her hand in my direction, and I walked over to her wrapping her hand in mine, crouching down next to Hope in the process.

"She's right for a change. It's hero time, guys." Josie smiled even though she looked sickly. "Hey! I said keep it down in there!" A high pitched squeal could be heard, and the guard fell over. Mg stood over by the staircase with a dart gun in hand. "Did someone say hero time?" (Start the song)

Mg explained to us everything that happened with his mom, and the basement tunnels after letting us out. "A blood fountain? Gross." Mg nodded "It's even grosser in person, trust me. I was looking for a way to shut it off, but I couldn't figure out how." "Alright," Hope turned to me, "I'll go find the secret tunnel, I guess."

"Thanks. We get our magic back, we'll have the upper hand." I nodded to Mg "Then I can siphon the sludge out of Josie, not that she'll appreciate it." Josie sighed, "Great, then I'll just be, shot."

"See. The new you is so snarky." Lizzie smirked. "Okay, then I'll be back as soon as I can." Hope turned to Mg "Please try to keep these two from kill, or die for each other." Mg shook his head "You need to go help Landon. We don't need you to be here."

"But, I cant leave you guys here." I sighed "I'll stay here with them. You, you go save your boyfriend. We'll meddle through." Josie who was lying on the table holding hands with her twin, spoke quietly "She's right, too. He needs you."

"We've been watching you, and you bestie save the day for the entire school year, Hope. We got it. Now, go save Landon." Josie, once again, talked quietly. "Go. If you go soft on us now, I'm just gonna hurl Maligoo." Hope smiled softly before nodding. She turned to me, and ran over pulling me into a hug.

"Promise me you'll be careful. I don't want you having an episode in the middle of the battlefield." I laughed wiping away the tears brimming my eyes "Hey, don't say that like we're gonna die, Hope. We'll see each other again, soon." She gulped before nodding. One small tear streaked down her eye. "Go be the hero, sister." She spun around, and headed for the door. I wanted her to look back, but I'm glad she didn't, that would be depressing.

Mg walked over to the twins crouching down next to them, "Y'all need to stay out of sight until we get the magic back, and you can throw down with the rest of us. In the meantime, Laya, and I." I jumped turning to him, "Will rally up the troops." He placed his hand on her knee, "Everything's gonna be okay, Jo." She smiled before nodding, and I stood by the staircase waiting for Mg.

"Mg, wait. I have an idea." She pulled off her medallion from her birthday, and handed it to Mg. "Take this. You know what to do with it." Mg nodded heading over to me. "Hero time."

We were able to get the attentions of the guards. The only catch was, now their carrying us down the halls to Burr. The man we were looking for was scolding a girl for not bringing the right item. "Hey!" I yelled kicking around at the guards that were holding me.

Burr turned to us, and we stepped up to them. "Well, what were they doing out there." I gulped turning to Mg. "Chill, man. We were just looking for your unholy grail." He laughed, but the man didn't seem to think it was funny. "Except you've both come back empty handed. Go Wait with the others, you two are as useless as they are." Burr must not have noticed me from earlier.

That's good luck. The guards once again pushed me. "I'm sorry." Mg called over his shoulder. "Your very strong, by the way." I told the guard holding my right bicep. The man tossed me into the group of Raf, Kaleb, and Pedro. "Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whao, man." Mg stepped over to my side. "You guys got back just in time. Ugly Triad dude's about to go full metal jacket." Rafael wrapped his hand around my waist pulling me close.

"I know what's messing you with our magic." Mg told them "Now, Hope's gonna shut it down. When that happens, we get or juice back, that'll be the time to make our move."

"What move is that exactly?" I smirked over to Jed "You remember your opening play from the wickery championship game last year?" He nodded "Yeah." This time, it was my turn to nod as I turned to Mg. "I got a few tricks up my sleeve as well." Kai Parker, my dream guide, dude, taught me something. "Alright then, spread the word. On my signal." Kaleb, and Mg shook hands, and I faked sarcastic enthusiasm "The Battle of Hogwarts is about to go down!" The five chuckled, but Pedro didn't seem to get my reference.

I crouched down in front of the youngest boy. "You tell me if anything's not okay. Anything." I held my pinky out for him, and he hooked his in my much larger one. "Promise." We pulled our pinkies apart, and kissed our top knuckle. Pedro, and I understood each other. Which feels weird saying that about a little kid.

I stood next to Mg, and Raf. I could feel when my magic came back, and felt good. Kaleb stuck his hand out in front of the window. When nothing happened, he nodded up at us. Rafael squeezed his eyes shut, when he opened them they were gold, so he did it again, a low growl emitting from his throat.

"You sure your up for this?" Raf gulped looking out at the room, "Not at all, but if your fighting, I'm fighting too." He smiled pecking me ok the cheek, and when I turned to Mg his eyebrows were furrowed. "Wait a minute, is Raya a thing?" I laughed turning to look up at my boyfriend. "Definitely is."

Mg smiled looking back down to Josie's medallion wrapped around his neck. "What's the bling for?" Mg glanced at me before replying "Making quiet things heard."

He took a step forward "Salvatore Stallions, let's ride!" Kids did as they were instructed too weaving around the hall, and I bounded down the steps to the fight. When I got to the floor, I crouched down placing my palm on the wooden ground, "Amici! Surgamas, et pugnemas nobiscum." They came in blue smoke, through the windows.

At first, I thought I was going delirious, but just as I had hoped, the spell worked. My family was fighting with me. My brothers, my mom, my dad, my nana, and even my great aunt, Shelley. You could still see the blue hints in their face, but they looked real. I placed my palm back down on the ground "Ego dixit: SURGE!" I didn't know the new faces, but I could tell they were lost loved ones of the students because kids were gasping hugging them, and fighting with them.

It felt good to watch kids reunite with their parents, and grandparents, and cousins, and siblings, but that knocked a lot of me. "Kaleb, Laya, Get the kids to the bus." I nodded to Mg before turning to Kaleb who also nodded to me. We did as we were told, getting almost all the kids onto the bus. When I walked back in, one of the guards had Jed pinned to the wall.

Pedro wrapped a rope around the man's legs causing him to fall over. Jed laughed holding his hand up for a high five "Thanks, little man." I took Pedro's hand, whilst Kaleb grabbed Isabella's. "Come on." Kaleb vampire sped to the bus leaving me in his dust.

We hurried over climbing into the vehicle. I placed Pedro in his spot, just as Kaleb got (yes, his second kid) Jordan his spot. I turned around, and their stood Burr with a gun to our face. Kaleb laughed coldly "Look around, man. Your stupid cup ain't here, okay? You lost." Burr's face went cold, "No. Look how much you can still lose." He pointed the gun to Isabella.

"Isabella. It's okay." I told her as Kaleb tried to convince the man to stop. "Hey, Listen to me. You don't want to do this, okay?" I stood up taking a step closer "Point the gun at me." Kaleb shook his head "No." Before anyone would reply, a loud snarl could heard from outside of the bus. Kids gasped turning to the windows to get a glimpse of the invisible force that was knocking guards out cold.

"What the?" The voice was back again, It's Raf. Just as it clicked, the force pulled Burr out of bus throwing him to the ground. I jumped out of the bus to find Mg walking over "I got it from here, Raf." When he said what the invisibility slowly gave way to reveal the black wolf that was my boyfriend , Rafael. Rafael turned to me, and I rubbed behind his ear with a smile "Hit the woods until Hope comes back." He darted away leaving Mg, and I with an unconscious Triad guard.

Well, I thought he was unconscious. Burr jumped up pointing his gun to Mg. "You're monsters, just like him. You all need to be put down." Before, I could do anything, Burr's gun began to change color, and then his hand, it kept going all the way until Burr was fully stone. I turned back, and Nia was strutting over, snakes, and all. "Rather be a monster, than a paper weight." I laughed when I noticed the way Mg was looking at her. "I'm gonna go see if they need help in the main hall."

I didn't give them a chance to reply, instead bolted off into the school. I almost forgot of my spell, Burr holding a gun up to me filled me with adrenaline, so I wasn't as warn out as I was.

I pushed the door open, and standing there was my mom, dad, and both of my brother's. "Marcel?" I whispered "Metias?" The younger boy laughed. "You called for backup." He told me "We weren't gonna leave without saying goodbye." I ran over to my older brother first, not even caring to stop myself from crying.

"I'm sorry I came here, Marcel." He pulled away, "I don't blame you. Where were you supposed to go?" I laughed softly. "And I'm sorry Metias for everything that happened." He pulled me into a hug, and I didn't want to let go. I wanted to hold onto my brother forever even though he was gone. "It was an accident." I smiled pulling away just so I could look at him.

I turned to my dad who was standing there holding his belt hooks with his thumbs. "I did a dumb thing." He admitted before turning back to my mom "All in the name of love." I replied pulling my father into a bear hug. What my parents did, didn't matter to me. I lost my family, and now I was blessed with the opportunity to see them again.

I turned to my mom, and she gulped. "I don't expect you to forgive me. I was harsh on you because of what will happen in your future. What your destined to become." I didn't listen to all that nonsense, I pulled her into a hug too. That clearly surprised her, but after a moment, she melted into it squeezing me tightly.

"Is it peaceful?" I asked pulling away from my mother they didn't understand what I was saying "Death?" Marcel stepped forward, "It'll be better than you could imagine, but you shouldn't worry of death, Kely. It's not your time." I smiled softly tears beginning to run down my neck as well. "It wasn't yours either, Wolf boy." That made me sob, Marcel was the original wolf boy. I watched him, along with the rest of my family disintegrate into blue smoke floating away with the small breeze in the school.

I hugged myself. The tears were practically impossible to stop now. I could feel someone hug me, and when I looked up it was Dorian. We stood there for what felt like minutes before I pulled away doing my best to tough it out as I, once again, willed my tears away, and looked up to my mentor. "I'm gonna go check on Raf." He nodded, and I headed off, but before I made it to the back woods I found Dr. Saltzman standing in front of a fire.

"Where's Hope?"

"Who's Hope?"

Everything's different now. Fictional tales of monsters, and magical creatures were brought to life by the theft of a stupid-not stupid knife. Dragons, statues, big spider people, and more came from the hole that is Malivore. My life's always been one long sad story. The Salvatore school made it better for me though, I was happy again. I found a family that would except me for what I was. They taught me the inevitabilities of having to face cruel trials in life. Even when it seemed like no one could come out with a clean record in the world of the supernatural, my friends helped me to see the good. A while back Hope explained the reality of having to fight every day, so we wouldn't become villains. The children at the Salvatore School will never be villains in my eyes. They're my family, and after loosing both of my brother's, I wasn't prepared to lose Hope too.

A/N: Oh, my gosh. The chapter I've been so excited for!!!! I'm literally so excited, like even though season two hasn't come out I have so many ideas already about what I'm gonna do.
I chose some actors to play Laya's parents.

Gabrielle Union as...

Remya Jones (Laya's mom)

And, Shawn Wayans as...

Lazarus Jones (Laya's Dad)

How do you feel about Laya remembering Hope?

How do you feel about Raya?
