|| Prince of Stone ||
'He is a weapon, a killer.
Do not forget it.
You can use a spear as a walking stick,
But that will not change its nature.'
-Song of Achilles
||Name||
Adrastos Lorcán Cirillo
Not Inclined to Run Away | Little Fierce One | Masterful
||Nickname||
-Lorie/Lore-
Adrastos is the name he was given by the King, and the name he is known by to the country, and he hates it. It is a symbol of everything the King wants him to be, and everything he so desperately wants to be free of. Adrastos was the name of a young boy who was so oblivious to abuse that he thought suffering was his purpose, and Lorie is not that young boy anymore. Adrastos is the name the citizens are presented with when the royals are dragged out for show, paraded around like trophies, and he refuses to be a trophy anymore. So, to his siblings, he is Lorie. Lorie is the name of a boy, hurting but not owned by anyone. Lorie is his own person, and no one can take that away from him.

What can be said of the Prince of Stone apart from the fact that he is half a warrior and half a prince? Whilst some parts of him are made for battle and war, for quick thinking and unimaginable blood shed, others parts are composed of analytical thinking and logical negotiation. There is always a battle inside of him, part of him wanting to draw his sword and let fate play its cruel hand, and part of him wanting to don a crown and show people what it truly means to command, to have a room of people completely under your control. But perhaps there is more to the Prince than just blood and anger. Maybe there's a boy underneath all that too.
The best place to start is how people perceive Lorie. As soon as he figured out that his father's motives were selfish and going to result in an even greater bloodshed then they already had, he stated to learn how to play people. With all the anger and confusion going on inside his head, he needed a way to keep that separate from how he was acting on the outside. The last thing he needed was to get killed before he had a chance for retribution against the King that scarred him. So he developed a facade. The perfect loyal price with the undying desire for approval from his 'father'. When he meets people, he is stoic, slightly cold but pleasant enough. He can engage in conversation, keep it engaging and draw you in whilst simultaneously keeping you at arms length the entire time. Its a perfectly honed defence mechanism. Only when he grows closer to you would you start to see the facade slip. Only then would you see the angry broken boy underneath.
He has a knack for commanding attention when he wants it. Channeling the inner prince he knows he should be, he is able to draw the focus of a room within seconds. All it takes is a few firm words and his patented half-frown to get everyone staring at him. And yet sometimes its the opposite of what he wants. All he can feel is people's eyes burrowing into him, looking for weaknesses, for cracks in the armour. He is always sure not to give them any.
Lorie is naturally distrustful. Ever since he started questioning the very foundation of his turbulent existence, he started distancing himself from people. Everyone is a threat. Everyone could have a hidden dagger or a knife behind their back. Perhaps the worst type of danger is the unseen type, not the flash of steel and blades but secret agendas. Plans and promises that Lorie can't see. How is he supposed to know who to trust when anyone and everyone could do what the King did, lie to him and manipulate him until he was hurting beyond the scope of imagination? The only people exempt form this rampant paranoia is his siblings. He knows them all too well to believe they would turn on him. He hopes, at least.
Another things about Lorie is his thirst for knowledge. He is no genius, he doesn't have a brain for numbers and complex equations, but what he does have is determination. The last thing he wants to be is out of the loop, so he made it his mission to learn anything and everything he could. He scoured books for useful information, spending every free moment letting the words sink into his head. Although he is the first to reach for his sword when things go sour, he cannot deny the utility of knowledge. With knowledge comes power, but he's also weary to never let himself believe that the pen is mightier than the sword. A wise man knows when to pick the pen and when to pick the sword, and he's always careful to choose correctly.
All this paranoia undoubtedly manifests in a lot of pent up frustration. The amount of energy it takes to be hyper vigilant, to always be on the look out for which mask to use, is immense, and so he stores this energy in the form of anger. All day he keeps himself in check, smiling when required and nodding along to the words coming out of stupid people's mouths. All day the anger builds, itching at his insides and clawing at his throat. It is only in sword fights that the anger is released. He is brutal, unyielding, anyone who fights him says the same things: he has fierce anger running through his veins. Those who know him better might be able to tell that the anger is also tinged with desperation. Despite many years of practice in restraining this anger, sometimes he breaks. Sometimes the day is too long and the fighting is too short and the anger swirls around and around and around until he snaps. Its better to be far away on those days.
||Skills||
-Fighting-
Like all his siblings, he was raised with a purpose and that purpose was to be deadly. To be able to kill without mercy and wash the blood from his hands without wondering why it had to be their in the first place. Whilst some of his siblings are talented with bows and arrows or throwing knives, his speciality is the long sword. He's always had a love for the way it slices through the air, the way it bends to his will easily and seems to know what his next move is moments before he does. Some people use sex and alcohol to let out their frustration, but Lorie's go to has always been the sword.
-Acting-
Lorie had to learn this from scratch. Up until he was 14, he wore his heart on his sleeve for all to see, his emotions seeping out and staining everything he touched. It took a long time to be able to keep what he was thinking to himself, and even longer for it to become second nature. Now he can successfully keep all the emotions and the racing thoughts inside his head and cater to his audience. If he needs to charm, then he'll use his dark sense of humour to get on their good side. If he needs to scare, then he'll let a little of that anger out. If he needs to pretend he is submissive, he'll bite his tongue until his mouth is red with blood. He knows what he needs to do to survive, and he'll do it.
-Hyper Vigilance-
Is being constantly hyper aware of everything going on around you considered a skill? Because if it is then Lorie is the master. Every time he walks into a room his first instinct is to check for exits. If people get too close his reaction is to draw his sword. Any sign of an attack against him is usually noticed way in advance and acted upon within seconds. Whatever it takes to keep and his family safe.
||Backstory||
Lorie was too young to remember where he came from. He was taken when he was just four years of age, so there was never really a time before the King, before the training. He read in a book once, much later on, that visual memories didn't start forming until you were about five or six, which explained why he couldn't remember a single thing about Before. It bothered him. It really did. There must have been a Before, a time when he wasn't a royal, a glorified killer dressed in silk. He must've had a mother, or a father, or siblings. He must've had something, but when he tried to think of it, all he remembered was his life under the King's rule. His life with training and punishments and fear. Growing up, Lorie idolised the King. He was the only father he'd ever known after all, and with that came the undying adoration of a boy who had no family of his own. Only the King, and his many siblings. He used to believe the punishments were for his own good, that every time he messed up and took a beating it was the King trying to better him, to take his clumsy and inadequate body and turn it into a perfectly functioning machine. A living masterpiece. It was only when he was a little older, verging on 14, did he start to question the way of the world. Why was it that he had to endure so much pain? What was the point of the suffering? What if... what if the King wasn't quite the god Lorie had perceived him to be? And that is where his doubt snuck in. Instead of blindly taking orders, he started to lift his head and take notice of the fact that he, and all his siblings, were just pawns in his game. Tools the King planned to use for his own gain. Weapons. And so sparked a small seed of hatred inside of him. Every time he took lashes or a beating that made his body ache for days, the spark grew, until it was no longer just a spark: it was a forest fire. Crashing and rioting inside him, begging begging begging for justice for the pain he'd endured. And when he heard that the King's ultimate purpose was upon them, the reason for their very existence, he hatched a plan. Like the King used Lorie, Lorie was going to use the King. He was going to betray him, and he wasn't going to rest until he was on his knees, begging for mercy the same way Lorie's anger begged to be released. That is his vision. He won't rest until it's fulfilled, no matter what it takes.

||Thoughts on the Marriage||
He wants it to go ahead. Despite his 'Father's' wishes, and his sibling's obedience to those wishes, he thinks this is the best opportunity Rialta has had in centuries. Every day people die, get torn to shreds and burnt to a crisp, everyday people scream and cry and suffer because of this war, and it is time it came to an end. But he doesn't know how to get his siblings to agree. He adores them with every fibre in his body, but most of them are brainwashed by the King and he has no idea how to show them that. How is he supposed to reason with them when the idea he is proposing, a peaceful union of the countries, compromises their very reason for existing? It worries him everyday.
