chapter two - "Next time Doctor I'll shoot you."

"A second unsub."
"It's not unusual. Remember Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris?" Gideon asked as him and Elle quickly went down the stairs as Hotch and Juniper followed behind. "1979. They outfitted a van to rape and murder girls in California." She answered.
"We're looking for someone who fits a similar relationship?" Hotch leaning into her view.
"But-but they aren't equals. Slessman's smart, but his personality type is submissive." Juniper informed looking down making sure her coffee wouldn't spill.
"So number 2 is the dominant,"
"Authoritative, arrogant."
"Probably not as smart as Slessman."
"He's like the schoolyard bully recruiting a good underling ─ he'll be protective of Richard. He'll make him feel like he owes him." Gideon informed trying to catch Elle up to seed.
"If Richard's been up in the attic fantasizing about being an extreme aggressor, this guy showed him how to do it."
"He would have helped him take the first steps." She added taking a sip as they finally reached the main floor.
"I think we should interview him, use this as pressure." She said stopping them in their tracks as Junipe hummed in disagreement. "No, we need a name for leverage."
"From the suspect list?"
"That'll take too long. There's gotta be a faster way." Gideon explained as Juniper smiled looking up at Hotch, "There is,"

"Here. This might be a little hot." Hotch said handing Mrs. Slessman a cup of coffee as he to the seat next to her.
"Mrs. Slessman, I don't believe we've got the right guy. I think the person we're looking for might be a friend of Richard's" Juniper said sitting in a seat across from her, smiling lightly.
"Richard never had many friends."
"Are you sure? There's gotta be someone." He asked lightly making her think about it for a moment.
"Well, there was... there was this one young man. I think his name was Charlie."
"Charlie that's good, you wouldn't know a last name for him?" He asked. "Li─Lia, no, Lio. It started with L." She answered as she nodded sitting a bit closer to the edge of her seat. "Thank you Mrs. Slessman you did wonderful. We'll have someone take you home as soon ad possible."

"We get an address on Linder?" Hotch asked as him and Juniper walked up to Reid. "It's coming in right now. Does senior management want a field assessment on Gideon?" She slightly nudged him giving him "you went to far again" look.
"Don't worry about it." He insisted walking back towards the two doctors.
"Are they nervous about him being in charge?" He asked as she cleared her throat trying to get him to stop talking.
"Aren't you on your way back to Slessman's house to help Morgan?" He told him before starting to walk away. "Do you know why he always introduces us as Dr. ?" He questioned making him stop. "Because he knows that people see you two as kids, and he wants to make sure that they respect you. What's the address?"
"Don't think it matters anymore." She sighed out holding it up to the two. Charlie Linder was dead.
This made Hotch walk away for good, trying to prepare for the interview. Leaving the two doctors alone, "Next time Doctor I'll shoot you." She whispered looking up at him.
"What did I do wrong?"
"You jabbed, poked, pried. Believe it or not we don't know everything." She remarked handing the now folded piece of paper before walking away. "Have fun with Morgan!"

Hotch walked into the viewing room and started changing the thermostat as Dr. King stood near the glass watching Slessman's body language.
"What's he doing?" An agent asked in a hushed tone.
"Lowering the room temperature. Cold puts people on edge," She answered turning towards him and pulling her sweater sleeves down.
"Ok, so I want an SPD, and I want a Seattle agent in the room. I want him to see that we've got every department working on this. And I need some file boxes. Fill them. I don't care if the paper's blank. And I want you to write the name on the sides." He informed while holding the door open for Juniper as the two walked out.
A moment later all 3 agent's and Dr. Hall walked into the room. "4 months of investigative work, 1 file, and guess what, Richard. It's not your file." He stated as everyone placed the file box on the table. "See, we don't care about you." He slide the box towards him making sure he saw the name, Timothy Vogel. "It's Vogel we want."
The two agents left as Hall sat at the table while Hotch paced around the room. "We found out Heather was buying a used car. You know how car salesmen get us to buy a car?"
Richard stayed silent only tilting his head slightly.
"They call it reciprocity. They drop the price and... It feels like they've done us a favor. We feel obligated. There's a sudden pressure to reciprocate this one little favor. And it's so powerful that we'll... Put a deposit down on the car we're not even sure we really want."
"So what?" He asked in a bored tone.
"So Vogel did you a favor. He protected you in prison, and now you feel like you owe him and you need to protect him." He said slowly while walking over and sitting on the edge of the table. "Guys like Vogel learn in the schoolyard which kids to bully and which kids to protect, and he'd got you convinced that owe him so much that you'll go to jail for him."
"Richard..." She finally spoke slowly getting his attention. "I'm here to remind you of something. You owe him nothing."

It got them nowhere, a call from Reid and Morgan told them they got into Richard's laptop. Now they were on the phone with Gideon, being told that Vogel traded his car with someone else and they lost him.
"Hotch, he's gonna kill her. He's heading there now. We need a location."
"We don't have enough time to get it out of him." He tried to reason as Juniper could hear the siren in the background.
"Find something, Hotch, or that girl is dead." He exclaimed as her eyes raised. Digging for her phone feeling it vibrating violently. "Yeah, Reid?"
"She's on a boat Juniper. The light was swaying back and forth." He quickly told her as she smiled. "Hotch, Heather's still alive and on a boat."
"She's on a boat? Where?"
"Where?" She asked following him running to keep up. "It's a pier or a dock. He wouldn't be able to transmit the webcam image from the middle of the ocean." She heard Morgan say on the other line.
"You're both sure about this?"
"It's the best we've got, Juni. But even if we're right getting the exact location is on you."
"Was it Garcia this time or Spence?"
"Garcia, and I asked her to work me a little magic." He remarked as she shook her head. "Call y'all when we got something." She said before hanging up.
"They said it's a pier or dock. They webcam wouldn't be able to transmit the image from the middle of the ocean." She repeated as they reached the interview room. "Stay by the door and watch, okay?" He told her holding onto the handle.
"Yes sir," She said as making her expression fall to make sure it wouldn't do anything.
He swung the door open as slowly walked in as she slipped into the side. "Just to let you know... Gideon's talking to Vogel... And Vogel's nailing you to the wall."
"Yeah, whatever." He said in almost disbelief but his shaky voice gave him away.
"He said it was your idea to keep the girls on a boat." And there it was. It wasn't that noticeable she had to admit he was good at keeping a stone expression. It was his eye's giving him away. They widen slightly while scanning the floor not daring to look in the direction of her or Hotch.
"He's talking, Richard. Reciprocity. Tell me where she is, and we make a deal." He declared moving back to him, turning away from the screen in the corner. "Is it a dock? A pier?"
He wad starring out the open door, licking hid lips, swolling harshly. "It's a shipyard. Allied shipyard."
Hotch looked up to doctor nodding as she slipped out of the room. Pulling her phone back out her pocket and dialed a number.
"You've reached Penelope Garcia in the F.B.I's office of supreme genius."
"Penelope, it's Juniper. I need an address and I need fast."
"How fast?"
"Well considering your wpm is superior and more effective than mine or one I know. Find an address for the Allied Shipyard and forward it to me A.S.A.P." She informed smiling widely.
"Found and sent to your phone as we speak."
"And this is why you're my favorite person. Talk later." She said hanging up and seeing the address and forwarding it to Gideon.

It was now daylight, and Juniper stood next to Hotch and Morgan watching as Gideon made sure Heather was okay before letting paramedics take her away. Seeing a small bit of blood showing through the wrap on his forearm.
"So what kind of report do they want on him?" Morgan said cutting the silence between the three.
"I suppose whether he's fit to be a field agent. You know, Haley and I were looking at a baby names book. Guess what Gideon means in Hebrew."
"Mighty Warrior." Both doctors said as Spencer walked passed them.
"Spence," She called making him turning back to her. She pushed off the wooden pole she was leaning against and caught up with him. Smiling as she hooked her through his, "Am I the only one not worried about this?"
"Why aren't you worried about this again?" He asked glancing down at her.
"He may not do things by the book or the way they want him too, but he gets the job done. He saves people," She concluded.
"That just tell's to you personality." He said getting a slight nudge. "What happen to not profile each other?" He shrugged lightly making her laugh before dragging him away.

"I'm home!" Juniper yelled dropping her bags down as she struggled to get her key out of the lock. Always seeming to get stuck for a couple of seconds, making her having to yank it out.
"Welcome back, I've missed you!" Meg exclaimed wrapping her arms around her neck hugging her tightly. Almost making her feet leave the ground.
"I was only gone for a couple of days." She laughed out hugging her back.
"Which felt like year's. Everything work out well? Did you save the girl?" She started dragging her to the couch. Making Juniper shut the door with her foot. "Years is being a bit dramatic, but to answer both those questions yes, we did save her."
"Good, I wouldn't know what to say if everything didn't go well." She said looking down smiling lightly.
"How was everything while I was gone? Did you finally grow a pair and ask Tessa on that second date or?" She trailed off grabbing Meg's fuzzy pajama pant legs onto her's. "No, I chickened out once more. I don't know girl's just do this thing where bat their lashes and I just need to run for my life."
"Honey, it's a good thing I'm here to remind you they don't always do that." She teased resting her head on the couch.
She sighed heavily before doing the same thing. "I guess. But don't think I forgot you work with a certain Dr. Reid."
"You know what I'm actually really tried I didn't sleep much on the plane." She said quickly standing up.
"Let me guess, up busy talking body parts with Dr. Spencer Reid?"
"Goodnight Meg!"
"You can't run away from me," She exclaimed jumping up and following her down the hall. "We live in the same apartment."
