Prologue

"Princess?"
The day was like any other.
"Um...princess?"
But it wasn't.
"Princess!"
You snapped out of your thoughts focusing on the handmaiden in front of you. She wore an impatient expression while waiting for you to reply. "Princess (Y/n) were you even listening?!" you shook your head confused. She groaned, "Princess this isn't like you! The last few days you haven't been paying attention!"
You sighed, "Faith, I'm sorry I've just been having these headaches and-" you were cut off.
"(Y/n)! We don't have time for excuses! You still need to fill out these papers and they're all due by tomorrow!" Faith explained carrying a huge stack of letters and contracts to your table. You sighed picking up a quill and ink, signing and reading some papers.
While you filled out your work Faith read out loud the list of things you had to prepare for the next day, "You have a seven o'clock meeting with the royal council, a one o'clock meeting with the towns people, you have more letters sent from the kingdom of Arendelle, there's a royal banquet being held in a week, and we've been getting lots of complaints from Old Corona. Oh! And (Y/n)?" you looked up expecting her to say something nice for once, "Don't sleep in late again! I don't want you to miss the meeting with the royal council!"
You rubbed your temples, slumping back into your chair, "I already finished the plans for the banquet yesterday and I'm currently going over the complaints."
Faith crossed her arms, "Well hurry then! You have about a hundred letters left!" you sighed continuing to sign papers. You were a hard working person at heart but today just felt off.
"Faith relax! Don't be so uptight," your mother said walking into the room, "(Y/n)'s been doing incredible with her duties she's probably just stressed." The queen sat beside you giving a reassuring smile. Faith pouted leaving the room with a barrel of laundry.
"Thanks mom," you replied, "I'm just not sure with what's been happening with me lately. I mean, Faith is right I haven't been acting like myself." Recently you've been light headed, not paying attention, having headaches, etc. You felt like something was off but you couldn't figure out what it was.
"No one ever said being a princess was easy," your mother said keeping a smile on her face, "I know it can be hard at times but I want you to know that when you grow up you're gonna be an incredible queen."
You smiled at her, "Thanks mom...but I guess I should continue signing these letters..."
Your mother looked at you worried but then a light lit up in her eyes, "How about we get your mind to stop thinking about your duties. We could go out for a fresh breath of air?" you were reluctant, "We can...take the horses out for a ride?" Now that won you over. Both of you got up ready to go out when a palace guard slammed the door open panting.
The guard was obviously in a rush but you couldn't make out what he was thinking. He was speechless looking at both you and your mother nodding his head. The queen was confused as well but she had a good idea of what the guard meant.
"Stan, what is it-" he nodded shocked. Your mother didn't even need to finish her sentence.
"The princess," he panted, "she...she's back!" You looked at them puzzled, what princess? As far as you knew no one was visiting the kingdom today.
Before you could question it the queen ran out of the room. "Mom!" you yelled running after her, "What's going on?! Why are we running?!" The queen looked at you with a mix of joy and guilt.
"(Y/n)...there's something your father and I have been hiding from you..." you were troubled. For one your parents were hiding something from you and two you were running not knowing where you were going.
"Well, what is it?" you asked trying to keep up.
"(Y/n) please, can we talk about this later?" your mother said not looking you in the eyes. You were bothered but left it at that.
You ran towards the palace doors, well actually your mother ran towards the palace doors while you followed. Your father was close behind you with the same joy filled look your mother had. The guards pushed open the doors revealing a young man and woman on the balcony. The woman had short brown hair and a lacey purple and pink dress while the man had a dark blue vest on top of a white shirt.
When the couple turned around you imediately recognised the man as Flynn Rider, or how you liked to refer to him as the guy with the weird nose, but the girl was unfimiliar to you. She had light green eyes and the more you looked at her she started to resemble your parents.
Your mother slowly started walking towards the girl as if she would scare her if she had walked too fast. Then she reached out to touch her pulling her into a tight embrace. Soon your father joined in too shoving Flynn into the hug.
During the whole situation you stood there more confused than ever. 'Who was this woman and how do my parents know her?' was all you thought. You tried connecting her to women from Corona's history but no luck. Was she an old friend? A cousin?
Your mother's joyous feeling sunk when she say your utterly confused face. She let go of the embrace and walked towards you, an ashamed look shining in her green eyes, "Y/n...I know you most likely don't know who this is, but-" your father cut her off.
"(Y/n) this...this is your sister."

Time stopped. Feelings started flooding into your body drowning out every ounce of patience you had left. Anger, betrayal, confusion, happiness. "What?" you asked more like a demand, "b-but I don't have a sister..."
Your father sighed, "(Y/n)...we can explain..."
"Explain what?! That you've both lied to me my entire life?! That I've had a sister this whole time and you've never bothered to tell me?!"
The girl's, no your sister's eyes shined with happiness, "I have a little sister!" she screeched jumping up and down. You glared at her.
"No! You're NOT my sister! I know nothing about you!" Your mind was spinning faster and faster until....it stopped. Your (e/c) eyes landed on your family.

"(Y/n) please...we....we just wanted to protect you. We wanted to keep you safe from the unknown..." the queen cried.
"And you thought that lying to me was the best way to go about it?! Families don't lie to each other!" Your hands were getting dry from you balling them up. You understood that your parents wanted to protect you, but what you didn't understand is why they had to lie to you.
The queen came closer to cup your face with her hand, "It isn't like that dear, if you understand why your sister-"
"Stop!" you cried backing away from your family, "If you've lied to me my whole life then what else have could you be hiding?!" Your parents grew silent. Your father's eyes widened looking at your sister then to you. "I...I knew it! You're hiding something else aren't you!"

"(Y/n)-"
"NO! I'm not listening to you anymore! I just....I- I can't believe you..." and with that you ran. You ran all the way to the one spot you knew would give you comfort. The garden.
You made your way to an old, stone bench in the middle of the field. By now it was already dusk, the sun faded away only for the moon to come after. In the middle of it all was the stars, they were always there but only seemed to be seen at night. You looked up fascinated. You've read about stars and astronomy, but to be quite honest, you never really believed in horoscopes or zodiacs. Still, you found them very interesting.
You snapped out of your gaze when you heard something in the bushes. The sound was coming from behind you. You held your breath, slowly turning around hoping that it wasn't something that would kill you. You grabbed the bush's branch and lifted it up revealing...
A racoon? Wearing...goggles? How anticlimactic.
You tilted you head, the racoon did as well. Then you put your hand in front of the racoon, it followed putting one paw in the palm of your hand. You carefully picked up the little creature setting them down beside you. "Hello little guy..." you said smiling, "are you lost?" The creature tilted it's head once again.
"Rrrrright...I'm talking to an animal...Y/n have you gone crazy?" you said hitting your head, "Well...little guy...if you are lost then don't worry you're safe now..hey, where'd you get those goggles?" you slowly took them off the racoon.
"Someone's probably out looking for these. Did you steal them?" the creature nodded, "Well...if you happen to find the person you took these from can you please give them back? You never know how important something is to someone." you said booping the racoons nose with your finger. The racoon nodded retrieving the goggles from your hands and scurrying away.
A few silent minutes flew by until you heard a soft voice calling you. "(Y/n)..." you turned around seeing your sister. Your eyes widened at the sight of her. "(Y/n) I know this is probably really weird not knowing you've had a sister your whole life, but hey, look on the bright side! We're sisters! I mean I've always dreamt of having a sister because of all that time being lonely in the tower. I had Pascal but to be honest it wouldn't have hurt to have an actual person for company!"
She rambled and rambled and rambled. You heard things like Pascal, tower, Mother Gothel, hair problems and so on. You tuned most of what she said out though. Your sister's eyes landed on you seeing your confused face as a sign for her to stop talking. She sat beside you with her hand out. You shook it still confused.
"I'm Rapunzel," she said. Rapunzel? That's her name? "Sorry about the whole parents situation..."
You sighed, "It's fine, it wasn't your fault,"
"I just wish we've met before all this..."
"What do you mean?" you asked. You didn't know about the whole Mother Gothel incident.
Rapunzel laughed and replied, "It's a longgggg story..." you smiled shyly at her.
"Looks like no one's gonna find us for a while. I'm pretty sure we have time,"
Raps grinned, happy that you were feeling better, "Okay then...let's start at the beginning..."
Rapunzel told you all the things she went through, being kidnapped, enslaved in a tower, being rescued, and realizing that she was the lost princess. The only thing you weren't sure about was when she said she had magical, long, blonde hair. The two of you laughed at her stories and you shared some of yours as well. You were beginning to think that having a sister wasn't that bad.
Little did you know the racoon you saw earlier didn't leave and that someone else was watching you, intrigued by you and your sister.
