Warning: Adorable yet self-conscious Varian

     This was your first important mission as the Princess of Corona and you knew that you couldn't make one wrong move.

     .

    Because if you did happen to mess up...

    .

     Lets just say that there would be no kingdom to return to...

(So no one told you life was gonna be this wayyyyy-)

     It had been five hours since you first left the Corona walls and you could tell the group was already tried as hell. You glanced up, seeing the sun had begun to set.

     Your sister apparently noticed as well because then she yelled out, "I think we should stop and set up camp, it's already late," she paused looking around at the forest full of trees, "When we find a place to set up..."

     You yawned, stretching your arms. You knew it would probably take another half hour before you actually found a large enough spot to set up camp. Sighing, you placed your hands firmly on (H/n)'s reins, making them gallop faster.

     An idea popped into Varian's head as he noticed your tired state. He wasn't sure if horse riding was hard but you were steering (H/n) for five hours, you more than deserved a break! He turned around, seeing Maximus and Fidella a few yards behind the two of you.

     He hopped off of (H/n) making them halt immediately. "Varian?" you asked, "What are you doing?"

     Varian grabbed your hand, helping you get down from your horse. "Let me ride (H/n), I can tell how tired you are," he offered, replacing your spot on (H/n)'s back.

     Even though you were extremely exhausted you didn't want to force Varian into having to steer (H/n) for an hour. They were an arrogant yet loyal horse, it took you months until you finally learned how to control them.

     "Are you sure?" you asked, running your fingers through (H/n)'s mane, "(H/n) is very...stubborn..."

     Varian shrugged, "I'll be fine, don't worry! Your rest matter more to me."

     You sighed, giving in. You sat behind Varian instantly falling into a well needed rest. Varian chuckled, hearing your light snores. He grabbed onto (H/n)'s reins attempting to control which direction they would go. After a few minutes of struggling he finally succeeded in steering them.

-Varian's POV-

     I grinned finally getting (H/n) to move. (Y/n) was right, (H/n) was a very stubborn horse. I glanced back at Ms. Sleeping Beauty, smiling at her peaceful face. She really was tired after today, huh?

     I suddenly caught sight of Maximus and Fidella galloping ahead of us. Eugene was up front while Rapunzel was sleeping soundly just like her sister, I guess it runs in the family. I suddenly heard soft whispering from beside me.

     Turning around, I saw Lance and Cassandra gossiping with one another. Lance noticed me looking and started making an uncomfortable amount of kissing noises while Cass simply smirked. I lifted a brow not quite understanding what they meant. Lance grinned, pointing behind me.

     I cocked my head to the side, seeing (h/l), (h/c) hair laying on my back. I felt heat rush up to my cheeks, taking notice of our position. (Y/n) had her hands wrapped around my waist while her head rested on my back. She snuggled into the embrace causing the redness on my cheeks to grow.

     Lance and Cass let out a loud snicker, almost loud enough to wake up (Y/n). Her eyes fluttered tiredly so I rubbed her back causing her to fall back asleep. I glared at the two 'adults' beside me.

     "You guys almost woke her up!" I whisper yelled.

     "Hey prince charming," Lance teased, "When are you gonna kiss your sleeping beauty awake?"

     My face flushed. "T-that's ridiculous! We're just friends!" I nervously mumbled, facing forward so that they wouldn't see the bright red blush on my cheeks. But sadly, Cass took notice.

     "Uh huh, sure. Is that why you're blushing? Because you're just friends?" she mocked, "It's obvious you two like each other."

     Lance's eyes widened, "I should start planning your wedding!"

     I shook my head, continuing to steer (H/n). I tried my best to ignore the teasing from beside me but the redness on my face only continued to grow.

-Half an hour of teasing later-

     I parked (H/n) at nearby tree as they tiredly fell asleep. A while ago Eugene found a large, empty area surrounded by trees, he decided that we should set up there. I saw Rapunzel had woken up from her nap and already started helping Cass build our tents.

     I placed (Y/n)'s bag down next to mine then tied (H/n)'s reins to a tree, making sure that it was tied correctly. I lightly shook (Y/n), but she stayed still. This was the first time I actually saw her up close. She really did deserve the title 'Sleeping Beauty'.

     The moonlight reflected off her (h/c) hair. She looked so perfect and peaceful. "Hey (Y/n)?" I said softly, "Wake up, we're here..."

     She stirred awake, her tired eyes meeting up with mine. "Already..?" she yawned.

     I chuckled. Cute.

     "Yup, Rapunzel and Cass are setting up the tents right now and I think Lance and Eugene are getting wood," I smiled, picking up our things and heading towards the campsite.

     (Y/n) rubbed her eyelids as she followed me. Cassandra had already set up one tent as Rapunzel struggled putting together the others. I turned, hearing Lance laugh at Eugene who was starting a fire. Or...trying to start a fire.

     When everything was finally finished being set up, Rapunzel spoke, "Alright guys we're done for the day! Get some rest, we have a longgg day ahead of us."

     We nodded getting our stuff from our bags. I dumped everything out seeing the piles and piles of books I had packed. I was about to walk into my tent when something else had caught my eye. It was the scroll Xavier had given us.

     I sighed, picking it up. No sleep for me tonight, I still had to translate the whole thing. I looked around seeing a large rock I could use as I table so I grabbed my quill and got to work.

     First Lance went inside the tent, followed by Rapunzel, then Eugene. Cassandra said that she'd keep lookout but I convinced her that I could handle it. I'm strong, I can handle a little night watch. I have muscles! I looked down at my scrawny arms. I kind of have muscles...

     A few minutes passed by and everything was silent. Incredibly silent. I was never so focused before, there was nothing but the soft sound of wilderness surrounding me. I quickly finished the first two sentences on the scroll when I heard something. It was footsteps.

     My head snapped up. The adrenaline in my veins slowed down when I saw who it was. "(Y/n), it's late, what are you doing still up?" I asked.

     Standing in front of me was the younger princess, she sat down beside me. "I couldn't sleep, why are you up?" she questioned.

     "I'm translating the scroll Xavier gave us, tomorrow we're gonna find the first page," I answered, showing her the work I've done.

     Her eyes widened as she grabbed a second quill from my bag. "Ohhh! Can I help?" she beamed. I smiled and nodded.

     She was so eager to help, I couldn't say no. She smiled and started translating with my help. Her smile was adorable. My heart skipped a beat as our hands brushed against each other. I mentally groaned. The weird feeling was back again.

     I couldn't help but hope that she felt the same way, whatever this feeling was. An hour had passed and we successfully translated the first paragraph. It was a poem.

     "Another one?" (Y/n) exclaimed, "What's up with all these poems?"

     I laughed, "Maybe so that it's harder to find? Xavier did say that the elements were powerful." (Naw man it's cuz Scarlett likes writing poetry)

     (Y/n) yawned, "I guess so."

     "A-are you tired?" I asked worried, "It's late, you should probably get some rest-"

     "No, no it's fine! I can stay up for hours!" she said, yawning once more.

     I chuckled, "Alright..."

     I looked down at the scroll, examining the text. After a few minutes of silence I had trouble translating the next line. "Hey (Y/n), what's thi-"

     She was asleep.

     A small smile made it's way onto my face. "You can stay up for hours, huh?" I laughed to myself.

     Sighing, I placed the scroll back into my backpack. As I stared at the princess beside me I couldn't help but remember what Cassandra had said a while ago. I don't like (Y/n), we're just friends...right? T-there's no way that I have feelings for her!

     And even if I did like her it's not like she'd like me back, I'm a nobody! She's a princess and I'm...I'm just that boy who makes everything a mess. The boy who's father hates him...

     I glanced at her calm face. "Why do you make me feel this way?"

     I carried her to her tent, setting her down gently. "Goodnight..." I mumbled, making sure she was comfortable. I stole one last glance at her before I left, going into my own tent.

     I laid down trying to fall asleep. I had to keep telling myself over and over again, we're just friends you don't have feelings for her, you can't have feelings for her. I tried convincing myself that what I was feeling wasn't love. I've never been in love before so how would I know?

     She probably thinks I'm a disapointment anyway...everyone does...

     Slowly but surely, I drifted off to sleep accepting that (Y/n) and I would only be friends.

     .

     .

     But secretly...I knew...I had a crush on (Y/n) (L/n)...

     Hey guys! I don't know if you've noticed but I think I've come up with a schedule that won't stress me out! I'm gonna be trying to upload two chapters each week, so far it's been successful.

I also want to address everything that's going on in the world at the moment. Now, I just want to start off by saying I'm not a very political person (Politics! Not my thing...) but if any of you are protesting at the moment, please be safe and don't put yourself in any danger. Innocent lives are already being lost and I don't want people getting hurt. Stay peaceful and try not to be harmed.
