8. It's Adventure Time
Should I make the chapters shorter? Right now they're about 1000-2000 words long. Also, very short authors note at the end which I suggest reading!

Lance, Eugene, and Varian all made eye contact as if they were planning something.
They smiled, jumping up in unison and yelled out:
"It's adventure time!"
***
The six of you were currently in the castle packing the things you needed for the trip. You grabbed a brown backpack you found laying around and filled it with various necessities.
You listed the things you needed while tossing them inside the bag, "Water, sleeping bag..." your eyes landed on your closet, "Andddd extra clothes..."
You opened your closet doors and scanned the clothing racks.
Dresses. Absolutely nothing but dresses.
You groaned, looking though the outfits. 'There has to be some shorts or at least something other than a dress in here!' you thought to yourself.
When you couldn't find anything you sighed, picking up a loose, shoulderless dress. You pouted at how long it was, remembering how you almost tripped over a long dress in the treasury. After putting it on you stared at yourself in the mirror.
You glared at the fabric, ripping it to be an understandable length. You smiled at your reflection, "Now that's better!" (I imagined your outfit to be like a shorter version of Esmerelda's dress from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but you can change it if you want, I won't judge! This is a judgement free zone)
(Here's an example. Just imagine it shorter and with less jewelry. You can make the hair whatever style you want. The artist is Steve Thompson on tumblr)
After tossing some other clothing into your bag you put on the backpack and went to check up on your next-room neighbor. You knocked on the door, hearing a faint, "Come in!" from inside.
You opened the door only to reveal Varian carrying a large stack of books most likely taller than yourself. The stack covered his face making him unable to see whatever was in front of him.
"Uh, Varian? What are you doing?" you asked, watching as he carefully made his way to his bed.
"Hey (Y/n)!" Varian greeted, immediatly recognizing your voice, "I'm just packing up a few things."
You cocked your head to the side, seeing a bag full of quills, books, and more books. You watched as Varian struggled to stuff the stack into the bag.
"A few things? Varian, are you really sure you need all of this?"
"Definitely! I still have to translate the paper when we find all the pieces so a little research should help...gah!" Varian yelled, succesfully fitting all the books inside the bag. He turned around, picking up some clothes on the bed, "See princess, I didn't pack that many things!"
He looked up at you, a dark blush covering his cheeks.
"N-nice dress..." he complemented, trying to cover his face.
It was your turn to blush now. "T-thanks..." you said, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Uh, just let me pack up a few clothes. Y-you can wait in here if you want, I'll b-be ready in a few minutes."
You nodded, sitting down on the bed. After a few more minutes Varian called out, "Ready!" He swung the bag over his shoulder and opened the door for you.
You smiled, standing up and walking to the door. You giggled, bowing down, "Thank you, Varian."
He bowed down, chuckling, "No problem, (N/n)."
-Five...minutes...later-
The two of you made your way down to the stables when Rapunzel rushed up to you and pulled you both aside. You stumbled into Maximus and Fidella's stable.
"What in the-"
Rapunzel shushed you. You were about to protest until you heard loud, clanky footsteps. You peeked through a small hole and saw five guards walking by. After they turned the corner Rapunzel sighed in relief, "We have to keep a low profile. Eugene found out that dad ordered more guards to storm the castle in case we left..."
You mentally cursed. This was gonna be way harder to escape now. You scanned the stable and saw everyone holding either bags or satchels full of supplies.
Cass hoped onto Fidella while Eugene and your sister got on Maximus leaving you, Lance, and Varian on the ground.
"Uh...don't we get a ride?" Varian asked already dreading the thought of having to walk the entire trip.
You laughed, "Varian, relax! We can just take my horse."
Varian's eyes shinned with curiosity, "Wait...you can ride?"
You couldn't help but giggle at his expression. His eyes were wide and a bright smile was plastered on his face. "Yup! My mom taught me when I was young!" you explained. You reached out from behind Maximus' stable and led out a white and peach colored horse with a long brown mane.
"This is (H/n) (horse's name)!" you exclaimed, brushing your hand through their mane.
"Whoa..." Varian gasped. He held out his hand, trying not to scare the creature.
You sat on (H/n), making sure Varian had enough room to sit as well. "Hop on!" you smiled. Varian was about to get on until someone interrupted him.
"Don't mind if I do!" Lance yelled, jumping on.
You could feel (H/n)'s legs quake. You turned around seeing Lance had on a HUGE backpack full of useless objects. (H/n) tried to steady themself until they could no longer support the weight on their back and yeeted Lance to the floor with an oof.
Lance groaned, "S-screw you too horse!"
Cass sighed, helping the man up. "Lance, why are you even coming?" Eugene groaned.
Lance dug through his backpack, pulling out a map. He showed it to the group, pointing to a strange looking building in the middle of nowhere. "This is a building called The Hall of Mirrors. The place is FILLED with mirrors each one showing something from either your past or future! I'm gonna steal one and sell it to the highest bidder! I checked out the route and it looks like we'll pass right by it!"
You glared at the thief, of course he's only in it for the money, why else would he want to come? Eugene sighed, "Fine, you can join, but when we get there you're leaving."
Lance grinned, "Fine with me!" He hoped onto Fidella causing a sour expression to appear on Cass' face. She dreaded having to deal with the man-baby known as Lance.
With Lance out of the way Varian sat behind you, gently placing his hands on your waist. Your face flushed slightly and your stomach filled with butterflies.
You cleared your throat, pushing your weird feelings away, "So how are we gonna find the elements when there isn't a map?" (Okay look, I'm trying to avoid a plot hole here-)
Your sister thought for a second, "I-I'm not sure...but we can definitely figure out where they are if we just look!"
Your mouth was agape. She sounded like a motivational speaker, and not the good kind. More of like...an annoying one.
Cass facepalmed. "Raps, you made us pack our things, hide from the royal guard, and not to mention we let this thief inside the castle for nothing?! How are you so sure that we'll find these elements before the rocks hit Corona?!" she yelled, snapping some sense into Rapunzel.
But apparently your naïve big sister still didn't get the picture. She had a bright smile on. "Relax Cass, everything will turn out fine, it always does!"
Cassandra had a dumbfounded expression, "So are we just not gonna think about the implications of this?!"
"Nope!" Eugene exclaimed, starting to guide Maximus out of the stable.
(H/n) followed, leaving Fidella behind with Lance and a confused Cassandra, "B-but the implications..."
-Time skip brought to you by Starkid references-
Soon you and the group snuck out of the castle grounds and made your way through the kingdom being sure to look out for guards. Once in a while Varian would whisper in your ear that he saw a guard pass by causing your face to heat up almost instantly.
'Why am I like this?' you asked yourself as you steered (H/n) away from the guard's sight. You've never felt so wonderful yet so nervous at the same time, the feeling confused you.
Little did you know that Varian was having the same problem. He looked down at you, seeing your determined yet red face. 'She's so cute when she blushes...' he smiled to himself. After realizing what he thought he hit his head, 'Come on Varian! You can't think things like that! We're on a mission!'
He stared at the many books in his backpack. 'God, what is this feeling? There's probably some book that'll explain it! I've gotta do some research later...' he thought marking down a reminder in his head.
Fidella, Maximus, and (H/n) paused at Xavier's smithy, seeing the blacksmith call for them to stop. "Princess Rapunzel! Stop! I think I have found something to help you on your adventure!" he yelled quietly. (Nice kind of oxymoron, Scarlett)
He handed something to Rapunzel. "This scroll explains where to find each piece of the paper you showed to me! It's in a language I cannot decipher, but maybe one of you can," he stated.
"Thank you Xavier!" Rapunzel smiled, "This'll definitely help us!" She handed the scroll to Varian to put in his backpack.
Varian opened the scroll and studied it. "This is ancient Latin! I remember reading a book on the language so hopefully I can translate it!" he smiled, excited to have to translate another letter.
"Looks like you've got a lot of work to do kid, are you sure you're up for it?" Eugene asked.
Varian nodded, stuffing the scroll into his bag. You blinked, realizing what he said, "Wait, did you say Latin? I use to take Latin when I was younger!" (I actually did take Latin before and it sucked whenever I had to translate full pages)
Varian's eyes widened in surprise, "Really?"
"Yeah!" your smile faded into a nervous grin, "Well not willingly though, my parents forced me to learn it."
He gave you a small smile, "Well then I guess I don't have to work alone."
You and Varian bonded with each other while Rapunzel said one last goodbye to Xavier, "Thanks again Xavier! Protect Corona for us!"
Xavier chuckled, waving goodbye as he watched you and the group fade off into the distance. You made your way to Old Corona, seeing the trail of black rocks hopefully leading to the first element.
Rapunzel pointed to the huge wall separating Corona from the outside world. "There..." she panted, "There's a gate we can open just over to the side!"
Lance and Eugene got off their horses and pushed open the gate, holding the door so that the horses would pass.
"Welcome to the outside world!" Eugene exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air as if showcasing the world to you.
You took a deep breath as (H/n) took their first step out of the Corona walls. Varian could feel your tense emotions so in order to calm you down he squeezed your hand, giving you a comforting smile. You smiled back then faced forward. Your face was filled with determination.
This was it...
You were gonna find the elements, come home, and finally prove to your father that you're no longer a useless child.
You will prove that you are good enough.
The wind circled you as you felt a soft breeze brush through your hair. You controlled (H/n) as they followed Maximus and Fidella through the forest.
You heard Lance singing some tune but you were too focused to fully hear what he had sung. Something about pancakes...or was it bacon?
Whatever it was you brushed the thought aside. You couldn't get distracted. This was your first important mission as the Princess of Corona and you knew that you couldn't make one wrong move.
.
Because if you did happen to mess up...
.
Lets just say that there would be no kingdom to return to...
.
