Chapter 9

Our team emerges victorious, adrenaline still coursing through our veins as we head back to the briefing room. The triumph of our win lingers, but it's abruptly overshadowed when I notice Izuku and Bakugo locked in fierce combat. My instincts flare up, a warning burning in the back of my mind, and I feel an unfamiliar heat behind my eyes as they glow a menacing purple.

Todoroki catches my gaze, his face etched with concern. His worry is palpable, but it's now irrelevant to me. His words are lost to me as I stride purposefully towards the door. My heart pounds in my chest, each beat fueling the fire of my anger. All Might move to intercept me, but he's too slow.

The rage takes over, and I know Izuku can defend himself, but the sight of them fighting ignites something uncontrollable within me. I can't suppress it any longer, and I transform. My dorsal fins scrape against the ceiling, cracking it as they extend. A deep, guttural roar escapes my throat, the sound reverberating through the entire building, shaking its foundations.

And through the intense rage, I make my way toward the room where Izuku and Bakugo are battling. I burst the door off its hinges, and both boys stop and stare in wide-eyed horror and awe as I growl. I whirl around, spines sparking against the roof, my feet cracking the floor, and my tail tearing through the air. With a swift motion, my tail slams into Bakugo, flinging him halfway across the room.

"Azure!" Izuku screams, his voice filled with desperation as he rushes towards me. My eyes, burning with an intense purple light, flare at him, causing him to recoil in fear. He backs away, whimpering, as I continue my march towards Bakugo.

With every step, the floor cracks beneath my feet, and sparks fly from my spine, scraping the ceiling. I reach Bakugo, pinning him to the ground with a talon. His eyes widen in shock, but the pain overwhelms him, preventing him from fully processing the situation. "You freak," I snarl, my voice dripping with venom, my teeth clenched tightly in anger.

Bakugo's stunned expression remains as he struggles beneath my grip, barely able to respond. "Attacking a boy who barely knows his defense mechanisms? Izuku is far from weak, but you know he's under my protection!" My voice reverberates through the room, filled with fierce protectiveness and unyielding rage.

Bakugo coughed, struggling to breathe. "Let me go!" he burst out, explosions popping in his palms as he tried to free himself. I sneered at him, my expression darkening with fury. Lowering my head, I brought my face inches from his, my hot breath washing over his features. His eyes widened, reflecting the purple glow of my own.

"You think you can scare me with your little fireworks?" I growled, my voice a low rumble. "I won't let you go until you apologize for recklessly attacking." The heat of my anger radiated off me in waves, and Bakugo flinched, but his stubbornness kept him silent.

My talons dug deeper into his shoulder, making him wince in pain. "Say it!" I demanded, my voice echoing through the room. "Say you're sorry for attacking him without thinking! Izuku is far from weak, but he's still under my protection. You crossed a line, Bakugo."

He glared at me, defiance flickering in his eyes, but the pain and intensity of my presence were too much. "Fine," he spat, his voice strained. I'm sorry. Now let me go."

I grunted and let him go, true to my word. Bakugo stumbled but stayed upright, rubbing his sore spot and coughing hard. I just stared at him coldly before turning back to Izuku. The movement caused the ground to shake as I walked toward him. He was curled into a ball, his head between his knees.

"Izu," I called softly, my tone shaky. "Please, I'm sorry. Look, I shouldn't have acted that way, but..." I sighed, feeling the weight of my actions. "He just got on my last nerve. I can't stand seeing you, my human, harmed like this."

He looks up, tears gathering at the rim of his beautiful green eyes. "Y-your human," he breathes shakily. "Is... is that what I am? What does that mean?"

I sigh and gently nudge him with my head, my size towering over him but not toppling him over. "It means that I chose you, Izuku. You're mine, and I'm yours. We understand each other on a deeper level than anyone in this school. I'll always know your secrets, and you know mine," I explain softly, a small smile gracing my features as my scales shimmer in the light. "And I will always lay my life down for yours."

Izuku's eyes widen in understanding, and a small, relieved smile tugs at his lips as he reaches out, his hand trembling slightly to touch my scaled cheek. "Thank you, Azure," he whispers, his voice filled with gratitude and trust.

I smile as Izuku's tail brushes behind me, a comforting gesture. Nudging him to his feet, I gently cradle him, his arm draped over my snout as I support him. "Let's get you back to the infirmary. I'm sure that Bakugo got a few good hits in," I say, clicking softly before moving my head under his body swiftly.

He startles slightly, grasping at the smooth scales around my neck as he glides onto the first of my dorsal spikes and settles there. "Hey, warn me next time," he chides softly but doesn't say more as I rise to my full height, having to crouch just a bit to avoid breaking the roof and bringing the building down on us.

Glancing over at Bakugo, I see him still nursing his bleeding shoulder, his hand pressed against the claw marks on his stomach, a bit of skin showing through. I huff air in his direction, my gaze meeting his red eyes. "What?" he asks gruffly. "Don't have anything to say about pinning me down, humiliating me?"

I stare at him, the anger still simmering beneath the surface. "You brought it upon yourself, Bakugo," I retort, my voice firm. "Think twice before you pick a fight next time." With that, I turn away, focusing on getting Izuku to safety, leaving Bakugo to nurse his wounds and reflect on his actions.

As I walk out of the room, already partially destroyed by our confrontation, All Might is the one who meets me. "Where are the class?" I ask as I stride toward him. He gawks openly, clearly taken aback by my imposing presence.

"Uh, gods," he mutters, his voice barely above a whisper. I chuff impatiently, reminding him of my dominance. "I am the only god you'll pray to, All Might. Now tell me, where are the others?"

All Might shakes his head, a mixture of concern and frustration in his expression. "They're back in the classroom. I told them I'd get Midoriya back safely. It seems you already have that on your mind. And also, what were you thinking?! You could have killed someone or, worse, gotten the whole building to collapse on you and killed yourself!"

His words hit me like a physical blow, and I pause, the gravity of his admonishment sinking in. Despite my protective instincts, I had acted recklessly, endangering myself and everyone around me. With a heavy sigh, I lower my gaze, a sense of shame washing over me. "I... I didn't think," I mutter, my voice barely audible. "I let my anger get the best of me."

All Might's expression softens slightly, understanding coloring his features. "I know you want to protect them, but you must do it responsibly," he says gently. "You're a powerful force, Azure, but with that power comes great responsibility."

I nod solemnly, silently vowing to be more mindful of my actions in the future. With a final nod to All Might, I turn and make my way back to the classroom, determined to make amends and ensure the safety of my classmates.

Soon enough, I found my classmates gathered in the classroom. I had to crouch down to the windows even to see them, as I couldn't navigate through the corridors without risking toppling the whole damn school. A few of them noticed me and yelped, especially Ojiro and Aoyama.

"What is that?" asks the sparkly boy, Aoyama, his voice tinged with curiosity and apprehension. I chuff, hot steam blowing out as I exhale, the windows fogging from the heat.

"Oh, don't worry, younglings," All Might bellows as he strides inside, his chest puffed up with pride. "That's just Azure. You should know by now that she is a mighty woman."

I feel gratitude towards All Might for his reassurance, even as I remain acutely aware of the unease my presence might cause among my classmates. Despite their shock, I can see a sense of awe dawning in their eyes as they gaze up at me. It's a reminder of the responsibility that comes with my abilities, and I vow to do better in managing them, both for my own sake and for the safety of those around me.

With a gentle smile, I bow my head before my classmates, silently acknowledging their presence. Mentally reaching out to Izuku's mind, I send a reassuring message: "Stay safe, my dear. I will be back."

Turning away, I wander off, the sun's glowing heat against my gray-blue scales providing a comforting warmth. Despite the uncertainties and dangers that lie ahead, I feel a sense of determination coursing through me. I will always return because my human is here, and I will protect him with my life.

With that unwavering resolve in my heart, I set out, ready to face whatever challenges may come my way, knowing that my bond with Izuku will guide me through it all.
