Chapter 7
Once outside, Aizawa starts to explain that we will participate in a Quirk Apprehension Test designed to assess their Quirks, especially since they couldn't use them in middle school. I stand off to the side with Aizawa as he calls up the spiky-haired blonde, Bakugo.
"How far did you throw last year?" Aizawa asks, and Bakugo just shrugs. "About sixty-four meters," he responds gruffly. I raise an eyebrow at him. I've thrown further than that, and that was in my true form... no, wait, that would be utterly unfair.
Shaking my head, I sigh and shove my hands in my pockets. Aizawa glances my way but doesn't comment. Instead, he hands Bakugo a softball. "Try to throw this with your quirk," he suggests, nodding towards a white circle drawn in the sand. "Anything's allowed, just stay inside the circle."
We witness Bakugo stride into the lifeless remains, his stance exuding both defiance and wrath. With a dramatic flourish, he draws back his hand, a tempest of raw power gathering within. Then, with an abrasive, unnecessary bellow of "DIE!" that pierces the air, he unleashes a cataclysmic explosion. The sheer force propels the remnants skyward, shattering the silence and scattering the pieces in a spectacular display of destructive might.
I chuff in amusement, a trace of surprise coloring my reaction. That boy will never stop surprising me,*I mused with a smile. But my amusement swiftly faded as my gaze shifted to Izuku, trembling in his boots. The sight stole the smile from my lips, leaving only a lingering concern.
I moved closer to him, brushing my tail over his legs. "Hey, don't worry. I know you'll do great too, darling," I whispered into his ear, my eyes searching his. As I tried to meet his gaze, he first blanched, then flushed a deep red. I chuffed again, the sound ruffling his hair, and felt a mix of reassurance and warmth in the air between us.
I straightened as I noticed Aizawa's dark eyes fixed on me. He sighed and asked gruffly, "You wanna go next, Azure?"
Raising a fair brow, I replied, "If that's allowed."
He nodded, his tone firm but acknowledging, "If you're to aid Midoriya here, then you're gonna need to show off a bit too."
I shrugged, patted Izuku's shoulder, and then stepped up to the ring. Taking the ball from Aizawa, our fingers brushed, but I didn't let it distract me. Lifting the ball in front of my face, I let it hover momentarily, giving Aizawa a quick glance. With a touch, the ball shot up into the sky. I smiled, dipped my head to the class, and returned to my spot, feeling a quiet satisfaction settle over me.
The whole class fell silent, and I chuckled, breaking the spell. The sound seemed to draw them back, prompting some to cheer while others shook their heads in amazement. Even Bakugo looked... startled.
I smiled. Score.
