Chapter 14
In a place unfamiliar to me, I spot the familiar purple-pink scales of my mate, and I stride over, realizing that I, too, am in my kaiju form. "Goji," I call out, and he turns, a smile lighting up his face. "My love," he purrs, reaching out with his claws and pulling me into a tight embrace. I grasp his arms, leaning into him and rubbing my snout under his chin. He purrs in response, reciprocating the gesture, a silent affirmation of our bond.
"How are the humans treating you?" he asks, pulling back slightly to look at me. I smirk, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me. "They're doing just fine, and I've found the ones bonded to me," I reply. Goji blinks in surprise. "Wait, you have more than one human?" he asks incredulously. I nod a hint of amusement in my expression. "Yep, isn't it great?" He sighs, shaking his head. "Sure, it's great, but it means I have more competition," he remarks dryly, though a playful glint shines in his eyes. "Let me know if you ever have the whole class after you," he snorts.
I fake a playful gasp and lightly tap him on the chest with a claw. "Goji, how could you?" I tease, trying to keep the charade going, but Goji rolls his eyes in response. "Oh, come on, darling, I'm just having fun," he retorts with a snort before nuzzling his snout against mine. Then, he jerks his head backward. "Come on, let's go find a place to sleep," he suggests.
I blink in confusion. "I'm already sleeping," I reply, realizing that in our kaiju forms, we're always in a state of rest, connected through our bond.
He shakes his head gently. "I know you are, but your mind is not. You're still dreaming about me," he observes, his voice conveying a soft, understanding tone. Then, without another word, he takes my hand, and we walk away from the strange meadow to a shaded tree that stretches up toward the heavens. I smile at the sight, circling it with Godzilla mirroring my movements, his tail twining with mine.
"I miss you, you know," he confesses, his words tinged with longing. I chuckle softly. "Oh, I know. I miss you too, Goji, every day," I reply, returning his affectionate gesture with a gentle nuzzle. We lay our heads down, his resting above mine, and as the world fades away, we find solace in each other's presence, even within the confines of our dreams.

As I wake up the next day, I find myself in Izuku's house, nestled in my bed. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, I sigh softly, longing for my beloved Goji. But then I reminded myself I had Izuku and Bakugo, which should have been enough. However, a nagging sensation prickles at the back of my mind. Another one? More humans meant to be bonded to me?
Shaking off the feeling, I push myself out of bed and go to the bathroom to prepare for the day. As I scrub the remnants of sleep from my face, I remember that I have to meet Izuku to help him prepare for another day at school. His bruises weren't too severe, but he did break a finger after being teleported away from the plaza. I quickly dress, slinging the bag I borrowed from Inko over my shoulder before heading to the living room to bid her farewell.
"I'll get your son home today, don't worry," I assure her with a comforting hug. She nods in gratitude, and I leave, heading towards U.A. again. I had left briefly yesterday after ensuring my friends were okay, prompted by All Might's insistence that I get some real rest instead of sitting outside in a cramped chair, waiting for Izuku.
As I approach the U.A., the imposing gates stand tall, their massive black structures a familiar sight. With a smirk, I push past them, eager to reach the medical ward within the school. Inside, I spot Recovery Girl, the school nurse, tending to Izuku and other patients stationed in the bay.
"Ah, there you are, Ms. Azure. Come on in," she calls out, her warm smile welcoming me. Izuku brightens at the sight of me, his expression lighting up with relief. Standing by his bedside is All Might, in his lean form, a reassuring presence in the room.
I smile warmly as I approach Izuku, gently taking his hand and pressing a tender kiss. He blushes, and I can sense the jealousy emanating from All Might, who clears his throat uncomfortably. "I hope you're doing alright," I say to Izuku, pointing at All Might, who visibly swallows under my gaze. "I am, thanks to Recovery Girl," Izuku replies with a smile, his hand moving to his stomach. "I'll be discharged today, actually," he adds, and I beam in response. "That's good news! I'm sure your mother can't wait to see you. She's been worried sick," I chuckle, and Izuku flushes, nodding in agreement. Before exiting, he turns to All Might. "Will you be teaching again, All Might, or what's going to happen?" he asks, concern evident in his voice. All Might smile reassuringly. "I don't know about that, but I will be teaching. Just taking it a bit easier, of course."
I smile warmly, genuinely pleased at All Might's positive outlook. "Well, I look forward to seeing you again, All Might," I say, my voice filled with admiration and respect for the symbol of peace.
Then, I release Izuku's hand gently and turn my attention back to him. "I'll be going on patrol around here, so if you need me, just come to me there," I assure him. He nods appreciatively, his eyes reflecting gratitude and trust.
I nearly collide with someone as I turn on my heel to leave. "Oh, sorry," I apologize reflexively, glancing up to meet Aizawa's tired gaze. He looks worn out, a small scar under his eye accentuating his tired appearance. "Azure, what are you doing here?" he asks, his tone stern but tinged with concern. I straighten up, meeting his gaze with a determined expression. "I have been resting. I got a pretty good sleep. I just wanted to see when Izuku was coming home. His mom is worried," I explain, my voice sincere and earnest.
Aizawa sighs, leaning against the wall as if burdened by my concerns. "He's fine, All Might is with him. That should be enough to ease your worry and his mother's," he asserts, but I shake my head firmly. "It won't, and you know that. He's my human," I insist, my tone firm and unwavering. Aizawa narrows his eyes, clearly intrigued by my statement. "Come with me," he orders, and I raise an eyebrow in surprise but comply, following him as he leads the way out of the medical bay and into the sunlight.
The sun beats down on us as we step outside, the sky clear and blue, starkly contrasting with yesterday's events. We stop under one of the square-blooming trees, and Aizawa turns to face me, his expression serious. "Now, tell me, what do you mean by the term 'my human'? You've been saying it a lot," he inquires, his gaze probing and curious.
I smirk playfully, teasing Aizawa. "Are you jealous, perhaps?" I ask with a mischievous glint, enjoying how his gaze heats up in response. "Do not test me, Azure," he growls, his tone low and warning, but I can't help but laugh. "I wouldn't dream of it, Mr. Aizawa. But yes, 'my human' means that I have bonded to him, that the gods have chosen him for me to protect. Every kaiju gets one under their lifespan. It doesn't matter what kind of kaiju you are; you get one and can either ignore it or find it. It will hurt you if you ignore it for too long, though," I explain, scratching my chin thoughtfully.
"Godzilla had a human once, but I don't remember their name. He died, I'm sure," I add with a sigh, crossing my arms. "But it's not easy for us to leave our life behind and go wherever our human lives. Though we need to be allowed, since I am the King's mate, he allowed me to leave." Aizawa interjects, "He wasn't pleased, though, I suspect." I shake my head, smiling. "No, he wasn't. But he understands. It's a rule he has to follow as a king."
Aizawa frowns deeply. "I thought he was good," he narrows his eyes. "You said so yourself."
I shrug nonchalantly. "We are gods, but we're not the strongest out of them. There's still only one god that we must answer to. However, I don't answer to your little power ruts, though," I laugh, shaking my head. "Shigaraki thought he could control me. They always do, those villains."
Aizawa's eyes widen in realization. "Shigaraki? Do you mean that Hand Villain? You knew him?"
"I do," I reply, a hint of weariness in my voice. "But I'd rather not dwell on it. Our encounter with him was just minutes before the press attack. It felt more like chance than anything else."
Aizawa nods, his expression serious. "Got it. Will you be sharing this with Principal Nezu, or is it just between us?" he asks, his tone conveying the importance of confidentiality.
I nod decisively. "Nope, this stays between us. I trust you to keep it under wraps," I affirm, emphasizing the need for discretion.
As I turn to leave, I can't resist adding a teasing remark, "Oh, and by the way, Aizawa, just a heads-up: gods aren't limited to just two human bonds. Who knows? You might be next in line for that honor!"
