Chapter 12

The next few hours are spent patrolling the school's grounds in my true kaiju form. My tail swings to and fro, brushing against the ground as I move. Occasionally, some students approach me, curious and asking why I'm out here and who I am. I don't answer them, simply walking away with my snout lowered, trying to catch any lingering scent. However, there's nothing. It seems the intruder has disappeared entirely.

He couldn't be older than I am, no way, I think as I pass by the sakura trees planted outside the school. The pavement creaks under my big talons, and a lot of passersby look up at me in awe. Some even snap pictures, and I realize it's likely the press who broke in here earlier. I look around for any indication that they're still here and see a few camera flashes now and then. I snap my jaws at them, scaring them away, and smirk. Cowards.

As I continue my patrol, the school's environment slowly returns to normal. The students seem to feel safer, reassured by my presence. I keep my senses sharp, ensuring no one poses a threat. The afternoon sun glints off my scales, creating a shimmering effect that draws even more attention, but I ignore it, focused on my task.

After a while, I come across Aizawa, who is standing near the main entrance, watching me. He approaches as I get closer, looking up at me with his usual tired expression. "Anything?" he asks.

I shake my massive head. "No scent, no trace. It seems he really did vanish."

Aizawa nods, deep in thought. "We'll have to stay vigilant. Whoever that was, they'll likely try again."

"I'll be ready," I reply, my voice a low rumble. "No one will get past me."

Aizawa gives a rare, small smile. "I don't doubt it." He looks around, noting the students who are still watching from a distance. "You're doing good work, Azure. Keep it up."

I nod, feeling a sense of pride. "Thank you, Sensei."

As the day progresses, I continue my patrol, ensuring every corner of the school is secure. My presence alone seems to deter any potential threats, and I feel a sense of accomplishment knowing I'm protecting my friends and the school. The sun begins to set, casting a golden hue over the campus, and I know that while this day might be ending, my duty is far from over.

I'll always be here, I think to myself, because my humans need me.

"Azure," I hear a voice call my name. I look up to see Izuku running over with Uraraka, the brown-haired girl bouncing on her feet. "Will you come with us to the new place we're going with the school? The Unforeseen Simulation Joint (U.S.J.), I think it's called," she says.

I cock my head before, in a flash, I'm back in my human form. The two in front of me blink, then blush as I pull strands of black hair back. "Sure," I say, smirking as I notice their blushes. They're not really used to seeing me like this. "As long as I'm near my humans, I'll be fine. The school won't be attacked a second time in a row. I know villains are stupid, but not that stupid," I say confidently.

Izuku grins, though he still looks a bit bashful. "Thanks, Azure. It'll be great to have you with us."

Uraraka nods enthusiastically. "Yeah! With you there, we'll feel a lot safer."

I smile at them, feeling a warmth in my chest. "Let's go then. We don't want to keep the others waiting."

As we walk towards the bus, the chatter of students fills the air. Everyone seems excited about the trip to the U.S.J. and the chance to train in a realistic environment. I stay close to Izuku and Uraraka, ensuring they feel my presence and protection.

On the bus, conversations flow easily, and the atmosphere is filled with anticipation. I find myself sitting beside Izuku, who keeps sneaking glances at me, a mix of admiration and curiosity in his eyes.

"So, Azure," he starts hesitantly, "what's it like being a kaiju?"

I chuckle softly, glancing out the window. "It's... powerful. I can feel the strength in my bones, the raw energy coursing through me. But it's also a big responsibility. Protecting those I care about is my top priority."

Uraraka, sitting across from us, leans in. "It must be amazing to have that kind of power. And also to have chosen Izuku as your bonded human. That's really special."

I nod, meeting Izuku's eyes. "It is. He's special to me. Both of you are. I will always be here to protect you."

The bus ride continues, filled with laughter and camaraderie. When we arrive at the U.S.J., the impressive facility looms before us, and the students are eager to start their training. As we step off the bus, I take in the vast area designed to simulate various disaster scenarios. It's an impressive setup, and I can see why the school chose this place for training.

Aizawa-sensei gathers us together, explaining the day's exercises. "Remember, this is a simulation, but treat it like it's real. Stay focused and work together."

We nod, understanding the gravity of the training. As we split into groups, I stay close to Izuku and Uraraka, ready to jump into action if needed. The scenarios are challenging, pushing us to think on our feet and use our quirks effectively.

Everything seems to be going smoothly until a strange, dark mist starts to spread through the area. The air grows tense, and I can sense the danger immediately. My instincts flare, and I know something is very wrong.

"Stay close," I warn Izuku and Uraraka, my eyes scanning the area for any threats. "Something's not right."

From the mist, figures start to emerge—villains. My heart races, but I keep my cool, ready to protect my friends at any cost.

"Stay behind me," I command, shifting slightly, prepared to transform if necessary. "We're not letting them get the upper hand."

That's when I notice a familiar scent and I stiffen. "Go back," I hiss to Izuku and the others. Aizawa looks at me with a sharp gaze. "You know them?" he asks, and I nod, my eyes narrowing. "Stay back. Stay with your students," I hiss before leaping down the steps toward the ragtag villains.

I don't mind them. I don't care about them. Blasting them away with bolts of blue atomic breath, I only care about getting to the big boss—the lanky man with blue hair and hands all over his body—and the misty villain whose yellow eyes bore into me as I charge. I hear their conversation even from where I am, decimating some foolish villain in my path.

"Is that her you saw?" I hear the misty villain ask, his voice echoing unnervingly.

The man with the hands nods. "Yes, yes, it's her. Don't harm her."

I feel the air grow even tenser as there's a pulse of energy. "She's killing off our comrades. Make sure her allies are trapped," he commands.

My blood boils. They think they can trap my humans and get away with it? Not on my watch. I unleash another blast, the sheer force disintegrating several more villains.

In the chaos, I spot Izuku and the others being surrounded by a group of villains. My heart races, but I keep my focus. I have to get to the leaders. If I can cut the head off this snake, the rest will scatter.

"Azure! Be careful!" I hear Izuku shout, his voice filled with worry.

I shoot him a reassuring look, though I know he can't see my expression from this distance. "Stay strong, Izuku. Trust me."

The misty villain moves to block my path, his yellow eyes glowing eerily. "You won't get past me," he says in a voice that seems to seep into my very bones.

I snarl, not slowing my charge. "Watch me."

I leap, my body shifting mid-air into my kaiju form. My claws extend, and I swipe at him, but he dissipates into mist, reforming behind me. His laugh is a low, sinister sound.

"You think brute force will work?" he taunts.

I don't respond with words. Instead, I whip around, my tail crashing into the ground with enough force to send shockwaves through the earth. He flickers, struggling to maintain his form.

The man with the hands steps forward, his eyes gleaming with sadistic glee. "You're more powerful than I imagined. But power isn't everything."

I roar, the sound echoing across the battlefield. "It's enough to crush you."

As I advance, I keep one eye on Izuku and the others. They're holding their own, but I can see the strain. I need to end this quickly.

The hand-covered villain raises his arms, and the hands twitch as if eager to grasp something. "Let's see how you handle this," he says, and the air around him darkens with malice.

I gather my energy, preparing for the final confrontation. I won't let them harm my humans. Not now, not ever. I will protect them with every ounce of my strength.

Just as the tension reaches its peak, I feel a surge of power within me. My atomic breath glows brighter, my claws sharpen, and I can sense the bond with Izuku and Bakugo strengthening, fueling my resolve.

With a mighty roar, I unleash everything I have, a torrent of blue atomic energy that cuts through the mist and aims straight for the villain with the hands. He barely has time to react as the blast envelops him, his scream lost in the cacophony of destruction.

When the dust settles, the villains are scattered, either unconscious or fleeing in terror. The misty villain is nowhere to be seen, having slipped away in the chaos. I stand tall, my breath heavy but steady.

Aizawa and the others rush to my side, their expressions a mix of awe and relief. "You did it," Aizawa says, his voice laced with respect.

Izuku runs up to me, his eyes wide with concern. "Azure, are you okay?"

I nod, reverting back to my human form and placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "I'm fine. We're safe, for now."

As we make our way back, I can't help but feel a sense of pride. No matter what comes next, I know one thing for certain: I will always protect my humans. And together, we are unstoppable.
