GeNiE's Emi Makes Shocking Announcement + Reveals 6 Year Relationship !

Just some minutes aga, GeNiE's Emi made a post on Weverse that shocked all k-pop stans.

In her post, Emi revealed her sexuality and her relationship of 6 years with her girlfriend !

The post says,
❛Hello everyone and hello Wishes. This is GeNiE's Emi.

Over the past few years, I have pondered and hidden my true self. Honestly speaking, it has been hard these past few years pretending to be someone that I am not.

I asked myself at times,  ❛Is who you are now someone you will be proud of in the future?❜ and while I appreciate all I have especially my Wishesand my members who show their support for me everyday, my answer to this question has always been no until recently.

In 2015, I started a relationship with my current girlfriend and childhood best friend Kato Mayumi and had to hide it from the public out of fear of scrutiny but I got sick of that quickly. Not being able to show my love openly was very hard. Having to hide her away was very hard. Not being truthful to Wishes was also extremely difficult.

That is why today, I am here to announce who I truly am. I would like to inform everyone that I am a lesbian, and I would also like to announce my 6 year relationship with my girlfriend Kato Mayumi, which is still going very strong.

Although it was hard to come to this decision, I could no longer bear the pain of hiding away and not being true to myself and who I am and although I understand and am fully ready for the backlash this decision will come with, I would like to ask for support and love from Wishes who have always been by my side.

Thank you for your support up until now and please refrain from sending hate towards my girlfriend and my members.❜

This somewhat does not come as a surprise as the friendship between the idol and choreoghrapher/producer has always been questioned.

Although the post was just made, netizens already had lot to say with mostly negative comments being sent Emi's way such as:

-how can she come to korea and disgrace herself and out country like this? it's disgusting

-so she decided to tarnish her own group's reputation because she felt like it? so stupid

-why didn't she do this before her debut, was she worried it would flop lol

-nobody cares if you're lesbian b*tch, keep it to yourself

-i hope she f*cking dies, such a useless b*tch

-the members don't deserve this, how could she do this to them?

While there are many positive reactions from international fans and Korean Wishes, most of the hate has overshadowed the support.

We just hope for the best for Emi and Mayumi !
