~ Chapter Ninety Two ~
As the metal box glided Dusk back to her desired destination, she pressed her back against the polished wood wall, closing her eyes for a moment as she remembered Klaus's look of disbelief and surprise. Even with her explanation in the lobby, she knew he was still in shock that she wasn't going to take the opportunity. She opened her eyes when the elevator came to a halt, the doors slowly opening.
She stepped into the hallway, and as she headed back to her room, the second elevator dinged, and the sounds of panicked footsteps filled the hall. "Dusk!" The raven looked over her shoulder to see Klaus running towards her. But rather than stopping so he could catch up, she ran. "Where are you going? Dusky, I'm talking to you!" But she kept running, the hotel room was a mere three feet away, and as she was about to shut the door, Klaus tried to squeeze through the cracks.
"Love, open the door and explain that to me please," "There's nothing to talk about, the decision has been made. We have to accept our fate," the phoenix replied. Klaus leaned against the door, knocking with desperation. All day, he hoped Dusk would say yes to fighting for that future with him, and it broke his heart when she voted against that. I don't understand, she said she loves me, but if you love someone, wouldn't you do everything to stay together?
"Dusk... this isn't about Dad or Oblivion, this is about you, me, and our relationship. I want to work this out with you," He pleaded. The junkie did his best to hide his emotion, but near the end of his plea, he choked up. Just as he slid to the floor, the door's lock clicked, and Dusk poked her head out. "Klausy..." she whispered, seeing just how heartbroken he looked.
They walked into the room and sat on the couches, just staring down at the ground before meeting each other's gaze. "You know, I was so happy thinking about our future. Where our lives could go, what we could build together. Why did you say no?" "Because one, I don't trust our piece of shit dad. And second, I was scared for both of us. Losing you to that harpoon was traumatizing enough. If something happened in Oblivion, and you weren't able to come back to me... I-I don't want to imagine life without you," Tears brimmed Dusk's eyes, threatening to fall as her vision blurred. "I don't want to imagine life without you either. I've lost too many people, Dave, Mom, and losing you... would crush me the most," Klaus shakily exhaled.
"Listen, we have only an hour left before the end of everything, but I want to spend as much of this last hour with you as possible," Dusk slid her hand into his, using her powers to warm his cold and clammy hand. Feeling the warmth, Klaus looked up to see her face, he was going to miss seeing her smile and how she made him feel loved, the true love he had been looking for all his life. "Come here, my fiery angel." He leaned in, kissing her with all the love he had to offer.
The flashes of bright orange and the sounds of the structure breaking apart made Dusk want to pull away and make sure the end was taking its sweet time. But it was almost like Klaus knew what she was thinking and told her to keep looking at him. He didn't want a second of their precious time to be interrupted. One hand traveled to her back while the other rested against her right cheek, keeping her focused on their makeout. Dusk exhaled a soft breath as her back fell against the couch cushions, her head resting on one of the throw pillows.
Suddenly, a scream rang out and the couple looked towards the door. "What was that?" Klaus questioned. "I don't know. We should go check it out," Dusk answered. Without hesitation, they got up from the couch and dashed to the source of the scream. It seemed to come from The White Buffalo Suite. Both the Phoenix and her junkie had no idea what the scream was about, but when they got inside, they found Luther lying in a pool of his own blood, Sloane cradling him in her arms. Not only was she there, but so were Ben, Allison, Dahlia, Victoria, and the rest of the group.
"Wha-what happened to him?!" Dusk covered her mouth. "He went to go get ice. I couldn't-- he didn't come back. I... I don't know!" Sloane wept, her cries getting louder and louder. "Oh my god... Luther," Klaus shook his head in denial, his grip on Dusk's waist a little tighter than it was before. "It must've been him. The guardian," Lila noted as she stared at the large slash on Luther's chest and the slightly open door into Oblivion. Diego stepped closer and bent down, examining the fatal wound. "She's right. Whatever did this had a long curved blade," he confirmed.
"How can you be so sure?" Viktor inquired. "I don't know much, but I know knives like the back of my hand," Diego responded. A set of footsteps entered the room, and they all looked over to see Reginald. His hand went to his chest as he took a step back, "Oh god! Luther," He gasped a bit dramatically, sending a few red flags Dusk's way. The only time she ever heard someone gasp like that was in the movies when someone was trying to act like they didn't know what happened.
Her pupils narrowed to the size of pinpricks. No... he couldn't have. Could he? "If we attacked first, he would still be alive," Ben snarled. "Can it, asshole!" Dusk bit back, her eyes turning red with rage. The hotel started shaking like it was caught in the crossfire of an earthquake. Everyone looked around, seeing the cracks and foundation of the suite begin to crumble around them. "Guys, we're out of time! The kugelblitz is here!" Five shouted. "Into the passage! It's the only way!" Reginald said, opening the door into Oblivion and ushering the group inside.
"We can't leave him! We can't leave Luther!" Sloane cried. "Come on, we have to go!" Allison persuaded, grabbing the gravity girl by the arm and pushing her into the passage right behind Dahlia. "Dusk! Come on, into the passage!" Reginald looked at her. "Go on, hon! I'll be right behind you!" Klaus nodded. She looked back at the monocle, sucking in an angry breath before entering the passage.
As soon as Dusk was safe, Klaus followed Reginald to the door, but surprisingly, he didn't let him through. "What are you doing?" the junkie questioned. "You've done a fine job bringing me into the family fold. You're just more trouble than you're worth. Sorry, Klaus," Without warning, the old man pushed him onto the carpet before locking the door, leaving him trapped in the crumbling structure. He felt betrayed. After everything Reginald had done for him, the old man left him to die. Dusk was right, he's a horrible person!
As the hotel continued to be ripped apart, he tried desperately to open the door with no success. If he couldn't get to Oblivion through the door, there had to be another way. As he looked around the room, he saw Luther's body, and then glanced over to the head of the White Buffalo. If I could get myself up there before the Kugelblitz takes me, I can get to Oblivion that way! Without another thought, he ran towards the decor, jumped onto the couch, spun around, and spread his arms out wide. The White Buffalo's horn pierced through his chest, and he shouted at the pain before staring directly into the orange beast, taking his last breath.
Please, let this work.

I'm happy that we've come this far, but I'm sad because I don't want it to end. Especially since we'll have to wait until Season 4 has been filmed and released. Anyways FUCK REGINALD HARGREEVES, and stay tuned for the last few chapters of Season 3!
