Part 12
☃️Pulchritudinous Christmas☃️
____________
Perhaps it was alcohol or my imagination but stars above glowed like street-lamps. Each one was more of a sallow yellow orb than a brilliant pin-prick of white. It was a brilliant Van Gogh. Those bright friends of the moon and their patterns seemed so fixed and yet ever-changing.
The winter breeze brushed across my face and all I could feel on my fragile skin was freezing cold air. Breath paled against the numbing air, I blinked thoughtfully as I was listening to Taehyung who was laying beside me, talking about some constellations. We were in the let's run park, laying down on the snow. I didn't complain though. I really liked his idea. He was different...
Taehyung: "And as you see, this is Cassiopeia-", he pointed out to a bright star, "-This one has a very interesting story. Cassiopeia was the queen of Athiopia. She was arrogant and vain, characteristics, that led to her fall down, and according to Greek mythology, this constellation is Cassiopeia sitting in the heavens tied to a chair. This is her punishment."
"I can relate-", I stared at the bright star, "-I have everything. My life seems like heaven, perfect, but I'm just tied up with a lot of grief."
Taehyung: "Everyone has grief, so if you were right, we were all fucking doomed to be punished."
He glanced at me, chewing on his bottom lip.
"What if we are?" I sighed hopelessly.
Taehyung: "So we should just enjoy this punishment, I guess."
"We can't enjoy a punishment. Punishment is not an enjoyable thing, we are here to suffer."
He paused for a moment as if he was deciding what to say to convince me, "If this is a punishment, well I'm buying it. I mean look at you, your red cute nose in a winter night. You don't look like a punishment to me." his smile was soft just like a snowflake falling slowly from the sky.
I giggled at his answer. Racy man.
"How do you know all of this? I mean stars and stories behind them."
I brushed off the snow from his hair. He looked like a lovely winter bear in his brown coat.
He smiled slightly because of my action.
Taehyung: "I studied astrology in college."
I widened my eyes, "Really?"
He chuckled softly as he turned around to face me.
Taehyung: "Yeah and I had to leave the college because of the company."
I could see he wasn't happy about it, "That's a pity, I'm sure you were an astrology nerd. I liked the way you explained the stars to me. Even though I hate this kind of cosmos bullshit in the universe, you made me interested in it."
Suddenly I felt his fingertips brushing the surface of my hand.
Taehyung: "I will show you more if you want," he whispered.
The touch was so light but it sent out such a strong burning sensation towards my whole body. I didn't say anything. We were so close that I could feel his warmness emitted by his body.
Taehyung took my hand in his slowly. I was scared to look at him. I knew I couldn't resist him. One of his fingers caressed the skin of my hand. A very gentle touch that made my cheeks flushed in excitement. All I could do was staring at the starry sky, my mind was racing, my body still as ever.
His eyes were already on me, his gaze traveling from my eyelashes to my lips, only to stop at my neck. He instinctively licked his lower lip, an obvious hesitation roaming around his mind. I heard his irregular breaths.
When I turned around, he was obviously surprised, his hand not leaving me but instead only tightened the grip around it.
Our eyes locked in a mesmerizing gaze and none of us broke eye contact.
I noticed his long dark eyelashes and his deep earthy orbs. That cute mole on his nose and another one on his lower eyelid.
How his messy bangs were covering his wide forehead. No one's ever made me feel this dizzy just with their appearance. He was so lovely and beautiful.
He slowly moved closer towards me. Our faces were inches away from each other. His nose lightly touched mine. I let out a deep sigh. Why I couldn't control myself? I wasn't drunk but it felt like I was. He was like alcohol to me and he made me drunk just by his touch.
He caressed my left cheek with his free hand. I flinched at the soft touch. I slowly closed my eyes in the bliss that his hands were giving me. I wanted more...
Taehyung: "Don't close your eyes, I want to see them."
He touched my lips as I opened my eyes. He moved closer, his lips against my cheek, brushing it lightly, and still, that light touch sent a shiver through my nerves, shivers that made my whole body tremble.
Taehyung: "If you want me to stop, tell me now," he said whispering into my skin. When I said nothing, he brushed his mouth against the hollow of my temple.
Taehyung: "or now", he traced the line of my jaw, "or now"
My body was lingering for more but I knew I shouldn't do it. I didn't trust him.
"Taehyung I don't know you," I said with my trembling voice.
He pulled out and as his hot breath left my face I felt the annoying cold breeze again.
Taehyung: "You wanna know me?"
I nodded in response, "Tell me something just for me."
He raised his eyebrows, "Just for you?"
"Yes, something that only I would know about you, like a secret."
He narrowed his eyes as if he was thinking hard and then after a few seconds, he snapped his finger in the air and looked at me.
Taehyung: "I have a memory that nobody knows-" he sat up, "-My Mom died when I was 17, she was an alcoholic person, an abusive woman. But still I loved her so much." he pressed his lips and ran his fingers through his hair.
I didn't say anything and let him continue.
Taehyung: "After she died, I didn't go to her funeral. I was so scared. Instead of going there I went to my room and danced to Rolling stones songs." he lowered his head, "Pretty much weird huh? " he smiled awkwardly looking away from me.
"That's the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life." I sat beside him and my expression softened.
I couldn't imagine Taehyung going through such a tough time. Nobody could. Everybody thinks he's rich, famous, hot and the only thing he cares about is playing with girls and earning money.
I felt the urge to hug him, so I moved closer to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. He flinched at the sudden action, he didn't expect me to hug him out of the blue. I could feel he was shocked.
"I'm sorry that happened to you, you shouldn't be embarrassed. I understand you were just so sad. Every person's reaction to grief is different." I placed my head on his chest and inhaled his scent.
He wrapped his hands around me and kissed my head.
Taehyung: "I didn't want to make you sad, I'm sorry."
Uh...He was so sweet. Don't be too good Kim Taehyung. I shook my head and buried my face even deeper in his chest.
"Don't be sorry,"
I truly wanted to obliterate that memory of his mind. I've never cared about someone like this before. I was going to tell him that I didn't want to be with him but I was feeling the emotions which were gone a long time ago and Taehyung was bringing up all of them.
I was no longer Lee Dallia, the CEO of Lee company. I was like a high school student, hugging his childhood sweetheart like there was no tomorrow. I didn't care about anything else at that moment. I felt safe and free in his arms. What else could be more important than that?
We stayed like that for a while and after that, we walked through the thin snow on the ground, holding hands. Taehyung told me lame jokes and made me laugh at his witlessness.
Honestly, I thought he was a flirtatious guy all the time but then I realized he could be so innocent and childish. He even made a snowy duck for me that didn't look like a duck at all but I liked it anyway.
I wasn't purely happy like this around anyone. Not even my Mom. He made me look around the street and I noticed the beauty that winter and Christmas brought to us. I would normally ignore all of those things as I would say, "Fuck Christmas, Fuck Santa," but now I was paying attention to all of them and literally loved every detail of Christmas.
Allured by the scent of freshly baked Christmas cake coming from a bakery, I took my gaze off of the enormous Christmas tree adorned with glistening ornaments and glowing fairy lights draped around it. Strolling alongside the magnificently structured buildings of the street.
I watched as people swarmed in and out of the bustling coffee shops and bakeries as I was enjoying, eating my doughnut. The festively designed stalls, illuminated with blinking Christmas lights, vibrant ornaments, and brightly colored signs, were lined up along either side of the street and had varieties of delectable treats, jasmine-scented fragrances.
Everything was very lustrous and beautiful. Was it always like this? Or it was just because of Taehyung's warm hand?
I saw a sudden twinkle in his eyes as he pointed out to a small gift shop on the other side of the street.
Taehyung: "C'mon Dallia, I finally found it."

I smiled softly as I touched the delicate dreamy blue bracelet, wrapping around my wrist. It was made of luscious unblemished pearls with a very cute little bear on it.
Jungkook: "Ok now I'm getting suspicious, why are you smiling to yourself like idiots?"
Jungkook said cockily while fixing his hair in the rear-view mirror. He parked his car carefully in the parking lot.
Eunjoo: "Stop teasing her, she's happy because we're going to shopping."
Jungkook: "I don't think so," he scratched the back of his head jokingly.
I shook my head and chuckled at them who have been teasing each other since we got into the car. They insisted me to go with them and buy a nightdress for tonight.
Ugh, tonight was my company's first Christmas party and I totally hated it.
But this year was a little different because Taehyung was coming. Since when I care about Taehyung? Oh my God...
I smiled widely as I remembered how he insisted me to let him buy this bracelet for me from the gift shop last night. Crazy....
Jungkook: "Now stop smiling and get out of the car or else Eunjoo makes me deaf with her screaming."
He said pinching his nose in annoyance.
I laughed at his expression and got off the car.
We entered the mall. It was sensory overload. The walkways flowed like tributaries to the main rivers of people, not a sharp angle to be seen. The floor shined like the surface of a lake at sunrise. In the background was music to soothe, gentle flowing notes to take the shopper's cares far away.
Eunjoo: "I'm gonna make you the queen of the night, C'mon girl." she pushed me towards one of the shops as she was beaming widely.
I heard Jungkook whining.
Jungkook: "This is gonna take forever Dallia, prepare yourself."
***
2 hours later
I came out from the dressing room for God knows how many times and waited for Eunjoo with pleading eyes to say yes and then we could go home finally. My legs were aching from the running and roaming around with Eunjoo but nothing, literally NOTHING made her satisfy.
She scratched his chin and tilted her head.
Eunjoo: "Nuh, you look like a camel giving birth. Go change."
I sighed heavily and immediately sat on the floor.
Jungkook: "What does even that mean? No matter what she wears you're just gonna complain. For bloody Mary's sake Eunjoo, what do you want?" his tone was like an impatient whining child who just lost his beloved knickknack.
Eunjoo: "Don't bother me with your pesky voice Jungkook! bring me that blue one."
She glared at him and I got up immediately. She could be really scary though. Poor Hoseok...Jungkook rolled his eyes and stumped away.
God bless us...
***
An hour and a half later
Eunjoo:" That's it, That's fucking it."
She jumped in excitement as she was pointing out to a black off-shoulder dress hanging in the showcase.
I and Jungkook were like soldiers who had been in a bloody fight and got shot, pulling the shopping bags in slow-motion mode.
Jungkook: "You said the same thing 542 times before." he grumbled sarcastically.
Eunjoo: "No, I swear to God this is the last time." she showed her melting smile to me and blinked constantly.
I face-palmed myself, "Ok let's go inside."
Jungkook looked at me blankly and moved closer to me to whisper in my ear.
Jungkook: "Just be glad that Hiah wasn't here. If she was here with us, then we were all going to die from walking."
I laughed at his cuteness and got inside the shop.
I should've taken Jin and Hoseok's warning seriously...
