THIRD PERSON

seventeen were preparing for their next comeback. since the release date was quite far away, late october to be more specific, they weren't preparing too hard.

the group has figured out what works for them, which meant recording and learning the choreographies during 'super' era, leaving all the extra time to polish and perfect the dance.

their schedules weren't too busy at the moment, they had already recorded and learned the dance. during practice every day they fixed most of the details and now it was just for every member to perfect their dance style to their liking along with the song's vibes.

meiling was pretty confident in what she had accomplished so far. she was happy with all the parts she had recorded and happy with what she had done with the dance for the title track so far. she had partially choreographed it with the rest of the performance team and a few other hybe choreographers.

and it seemed everyone felt similarly. though everyone was showing up to practice, all they were really doing was the same thing over and over again. then the group realized they were ahead of schedule.

normally, the group finally felt done with the choreography much closer to the release date of the album. this time, not as much.

so with all this free time, they knew exactly what to do: a group vacation. unsure of where to go, everyone wrote on a slip of paper a vacation destination they would enjoy going to and put it into a hat. they got a staff member to pick a slip, and it ended up being bora bora.

meiling wrote down switzerland but she wasn't upset with going to bora bora, either. a vacation is a vacation no matter what.

it turned out that they would be staying in one of the hotels that had bungalows on the water. the girl was super excited by this news. she had seen these types of hotels all over social media and could only hope she would ever go. luckily, she got the opportunity to now.

each member could either choose to share a slight larger bungalow with one other member or be alone in a normal sized bungalow. she, obviously chose to share one with seungcheol. except for jun and seungkwan, and dokyeom and joshua, nobody else chose a roommate.

she slept most of the flight there, and so did all the other members. once arriving at the hotel, everyone collectively gasped in shock. it was beautiful. she immediately took out her phone for a picture.

since they had taken a night flight they had the entire day to unpack and explore. meiling could not wait to get out, so she ran to the bungalow the second she got the key, almost tripping and falling into the ocean.

she heard wonwoo laugh at her from behind and she turned to playfully scowl at him. after the encounter, she was pretty much at the bungalow. she opened the door, dropping her carry-on and letting go of her suitcase handle with a quiet "wow."

it was everything she could've imagined and more. there was one large room with a bed, mini-kitchen, tv, and coffee table. there was also a bathroom towards the side. there was also a back porch connected to the first room.

she left her bags unattended, though she wasn't scared anyone would take them, mesmerized by the porch. it had a cuddle chair tucked in the corner and a small pool at the end, and a few pool chairs in front of it. next to both sides of the pool was a lowered platform that had a ladder to swim into the pacific ocean.

the chinese hadn't realized seungcheol had joined her until she heard him speak. "pretty, isn't it?" she giggled, "you could say that," she paused, "i wish i could live here full time."

he ruffled her hair in adoration, "we'll move here and buy our own little home on the water when we're seventy and done being idols. how's that sound?"

"i'm counting on that, cheolie," she warned. he laughed, just grateful to be around the people he loved the most in his world, his members and meiling.

she looked to the side as their neighbor, woozi, jumped into the ocean. on the other side, vernon was listening to music while sitting in the pool chair and admiring the scenery.

"i think i'm going to go look at the island itself. do you wanna come with?" she asked. he shook his head no, "i'd rather unpack. i think i'll swim in the pool after. have fun, though, meimei. i'll unpack your suitcase too, so don't worry about it."

she nodded, "alright, thank you. i'll be back soon, tell me how the pool is!" she called as she walked through the front door. she heard him yell back an "okay" as she shut the door.

she asked if anybody else wanted to come with her, to which mingyu replied. she met him in the middle of the dock and walked in a comfortable silence to the actual island.

"we're so lucky to be able to do this," the younger suddenly spoke. she couldn't agree more, humming in response. "we deserve this, gyu." he nodded, "we do."

a silence overcame them once more as they began to walk around the edge of the island. it was large and there was no way they were going to complete a full circle, but meiling decided that that would be her goal for this vacation; to walk around the whole island at once.

as the two decided to head back once they completed about 1/5 of the circle, they began to talk about everything that was on their minds. from struggles neither of them told a single soul to which light company makes the hottest stage lights, they spoke about anything.

the two made it just in time for dinner. the hotel had some type of building near the shore for meals, amenities, and actual hotel rooms for those who didn't want to use the ones on the water.

they were sat at one large table and ordered most of the menu, excited to try new things. "how do you like it so far?" she asked minghao who was sitting next to her.

"i feel so... relaxed, you know? i'm also happy because i was the one who wrote down bora bora." she nodded, "oh, really?! well thanks, you got us such a nice vacation." he laughed, "it's not like i'm paying for it or anything." she rolled her eyes with a smile, "you know what i mean."

dinner went on and the group continued to talk about their achievements and how happy they were to be with each other. it was really a dream come true to all of them. they had the career they could only dream of and do it with people they all genuinely loved. as jeonghan once said "people say you succeeded in life when you have 2-3 good friends, but i already have 13."

as the meal finished, she gathered her stuff and stood up. she took a photo with hoshi and chan for the fun of it and put it into one of her many folders.

she held seungcheol's hand as they made their way back to their room. as the sky turned black and became littered with small white dots, the dock had lights on each side turn on.

she did her night routine while asking seungcheol her usual questions about his day. it made him feel good that she was so interested in something he thought was so, uninteresting.

he was ready for bed way before she was, but stayed in the bathroom to continue talking. she finally finished and they laid in bed. instinctively, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her towards him.

meiling smiled, looking at the photo of her, chan, and hoshi one last time before falling asleep. she felt overwhelmed with love for her members and her now, fiancΓ©.

"sweetheart?" she quietly called. seungcheol responded with a small "hm?" she smiled to herself, "i love you." the korean squeezed her waist for a moment in response, somehow pulling her even closer.

"i love you more, angel. 'nd i always will."
