FLUFF (?)/ANGST
THIRD PERSON
meiling had been looking forward to this day for years. as much as she loved promoting in korea, she couldn't wait to feel her mother's arms wrap around her in a tight hug. her silent form of "i missed you."
if it weren't for the ability to call, she assumed she would've forgotten her parents's voices. let alone their faces. as much as the thought saddened her, she couldn't deny it. it was a side effect of being a distant child and then a distant adult.
though most of all she missed her sister, daiyu. her biggest supporter. she was always the first to comment on how well meiling's been doing, even when seventeen were not promoting. it touched a part of her heart that was reserved for daiyu. every time she would leave china, there was always a daiyu-shaped hole in her heart, longing to be filled.
it brought the girl to tears if she thought about her sister for long enough. that was exactly what she did not want to do right now, as she was shoving her essentials in a suitcase.
seungkwan was sat on her bed, scrolling through his phone and watching her in the corner of his eye. honestly, neither of them were too sure why he was there.
"i'm going to miss you, you know?" he suddenly spoke. she hummed in response before processing his words. "ah, i'll miss you too," she replied after realizing. he softly giggled, "tell your mom and sister i say hi. you're dad too, if you see him." she nodded with a slight smile, "okay."
the room fell silent once more, meiling looking at her checklist. without it, she would most likely bring only one out of the fifty things she thought she would need. she felt quite stupid with it, but it made life much easier. she just had to suck up her pride for this one.
"kwan? can you pass me that?" she asked, pointing at a teddy bear laying on her bed. it was the last item she needed. "you sleep with a teddy? still? and you think it's an essential?" she rolled her eyes at his teasing remarks, "shut up, just pass it."
he did as told but still had questions. "i'm actually curious as to why you cling onto that thing like you're a patient in a mental asylum and it's your crusty emotional support doll." she scoffed, cracking a smile she couldn't hide.
"shut up. seungcheol bought it for me a while ago. i can't sleep without it when he's not there. it's like a substitute." she cringed, preparing herself for the teasing of a lifetime but was met with a fond smile. "honestly, that's pretty cute. i want what you two have." she smiled, "one day, kwan, one day."
she zipped her suitcase tight with a smile. she set it up next to her door so she could grab it first thing in the morning tomorrow. her last night in korea for the next few months. as excited as she was to leave, a part of her was upset. she would miss the other eleven. she would even miss jun and minghao, knowing that the three would separate immediately after their flight. but that's just life. there was nothing she could do to change it.
she crawled into bed as seungkwan left her room, making sure to let her know he'd come before she left the next morning. she waited for the bed to dip on seungcheol's side as he laid down next to her. it took a while, but when it finally did, she couldn't help but smile.
her back was facing him originally, but she rolled over to see his face almost immediately. he softly smiled, "glad to know you're taking the teddy with you." she giggled, "shut up, you wish it was you that i was taking." he kept his lips sealed tight because he knew she was right.
"promise to text me at least once a day?" she asked, a yawn following right after. he smiled, "of course." their conversation ended there for a little bit, as she tried to get some shut-eye. not like it was really working.
she could tell her boyfriend was up as well by the way he breathed. it was different than the breaths he would take when asleep. apparently he could tell she was awake too because he suddenly spoke, "i'm really gonna miss you, angel."
she was glad the room was so dark he couldn't see the rapid blush spread to her cheeks. "i'm going to miss you more, sweetheart." in an attempt to lighten the mood, she followed up her sentence with "not more than my mom has been missing you. she's constantly asking about you."
he smiled, grateful that meiling's parents liked him not as her bandmate, but as her boyfriend. "tell her i say hi and i miss her a lot. we should all get together soon." she sighed, "we should."
she didn't remember falling asleep until she woke up to her blaring alarm. normally she would stay in bed for a few more minutes, but not today. today, she was going back home. fucking finally.
she heard a few of the members scurrying around outside the walls of her room, realizing that her boyfriend was mostly likely one of them. she brushed her teeth and remembered waking up without him by her side. it felt weird but she'd just have to get used to it for the next four months.
she was ready fairly quickly, and pushed her suitcase out her bedroom door. she didn't process anything before dokyeom had already tackle-hugged her. she giggled and he did too, pulling away from the hug with a smile. "have a safe flight, okay?" she nodded with a soft grin, "okay, dokyeom-ah."
it went like that for a while, the three members hugging everyone and repeating the same shit over and over. she would miss them and their stupid jokes. she realized then how grateful she was to have people like them in her life. it was something she could've never asked for. to have this many people care for each other.
she stood by the door, next to minghao. they waved goodbye for the last time. this was going to be the last time she'd see their faces in person for a while. it was an unusual thought.
still, she wanted to go home more than ever. so jun opened the front door and they piled in one the company's many cars, headed to the airport. she would finally be back home.
