"In 1958, Elizabeth Anscombe published a paper titled," The professor wrote on the board. "Modern Moral Philosophy that changed how ethics thinks about normative theories."

Today, Jimin felt... strange. Not only had he woken up late and was late picking Taehyung up, his focus was off and he could barely even think. To make everything seem even more off, Namjoon started class without even introducing himself. He didn't even clap his hands.

"She criticized modern moral philosophy's pre-occupation with a law conception of ethics." He clicked on his control as a new slide showed up. "A law conception of ethics deals exclusively with obligation and duty."

As he waited for students to write down the definition, the door was opened and Jimin watched as Namjoon's shoulders tensed upwards and he grabbed from his pocket a silver fidget cube.

"Principal Kwon, good to see you."

The man nodded as he looked around at the crowd of students writing vigorously on their notebooks. He caught Jimin's eye, who had already written down the definition, and stared right back with authority.

"I'm here to evaluate Mister Kim, don't see me as a distraction."

Jimin quickly turned his eyes to his teacher, who looked even more tense as he clicked on the control of the presentation with his left hand as his right fidgeted away. "Among the theories Anscombe challenged, were J.S Mill's utilitarianism and Kant's deontology. Now does anyone know what their theories were, cause we did slightly cover one of them."

Jimin raised his hand but instead, Namjoon called on Suho. "Didn't Kant believe that religion and morality were separate entities?"

"Heck yeah he did." Namjoon nodded at the boy as he fist bumped him. "Hey, that was a good answer." He walked towards his desk as he clicked for the next slide, placing his fidget cube on the desk. He turned and faced the students. "He said that religion and morality were not reliant on each other and that whether you want to be moral or not, moral law is binding."

Jimin raised his hand but Namjoon called on Jisoo instead. "Wouldn't it be practically impossible to follow his theory?"

"Correct." Namjoon nodded as he shrugged, placing his hands behind his back in a formal matter but more to calm his nerves.

"See, Kant believed that in any situation there were set rules and you should follow them no matter the circumstances. Which if we think back to our money example, it is impossible to return lost money to it's owner if found in the middle of nowhere."

"A serial number exists." Principal Kwon startled Jimin as he had situated himself right behind the boy. "Track down the original owner, or donate the money."

Jimin was quick to answer the Principal's statement. "But not everyone knows about the serial number and donating the money can be seen as rewarding to the person doing so. Depending in which way you look at it, it's unethical if you don't keep the money. Plus the serial number can only track down the last person it was cashed out to, not who held it."

The Principal glared at the boy. "What's your name?"

"Park Jimin..." He softly said as the Principal nodded and sat next to him.

"Alright Mister Kim, carry on."

Namjoon looked at Jimin briefly before continuing his lecture, Principal Kwon placing his evaluation sheet down. "Now, Mill's Utilitarian theory is very similar. He believed that whichever action benefits the majority of people is right. Although it sounds very reasoning, Anscombe argued that selflessness was good in certain situations, specially in ones which the greater benefit actually wasn't all that ethical."

Jimin highlighted the vocabulary words when he heard a low voice next to him. "You like Mister Kim?"

Jimin turned to the Principal. He looked rather young to be the Principal of such a prestigious arts and media university. "I like the class."

The man shook his head, a smug on his face. "No, no," He pointed down at the teacher with his pen. "Him. The class, everyone loves. The teacher."

Jimin gulped and looked as Namjoon explained how both Kant and Mill's theories were impossible to follow. "I mean, yeah. He's just my teacher though..."

"Weren't you the student that begged to be switched classes, though?"

The boy nodded, his pink hair falling over his eyes.

The Principal pointed down at the teacher again. "I can switch you if you'd like. Ethics and anthropology. All you have to do is say you want to."

Jimin quickly shook his head as he slightly bowed. "I-I thank you sir but..." He looked down at Namjoon again. "Mister Kim spoke to me and we came to an agreement. I'd like to stay in the class."

The man then extended his hand at Jimin, a smile finally showing over his face. "Kwon Jinyong. Mister Kim speaks highly of you."

Jimin smiled as he shook his hand. "I wasn't aware he t-talked about me."

"Well he speaks highly of his top students. It's weird he hasn't called on you."

"So your assignment for the end of this unit is to challenge a theory and write an article the same way Elizabeth Anscombe did." Namjoon then sighed as he smiled. "Who would like to pick theirs now?"

Jimin was quick to raise his arm, startling the man beside him.

"Yes Mister Park, what will be your choosing?"

Jimin put down his hand as he smirked. "Well I was wondering what was your favorite theory."

"My favorite theory..." Namjoon seemed in thought before he nodded himself. "Moral particularism. The belief that there are no set rules for every situation, given that you may do immoral things and have been moral."

"I'd like to challenge that then."

Jinyong whispered next to him. "Good choice."

"Challenging Jonathan Dancy and your teacher?" Namjoon chuckled. "Don't know if I should be flattered or offended."

"Just an assignment, right?" Jimin smirked. "I think Dancy would be flattered, wouldn't he be?"

Namjoon was taken aback. Was his student flirting with him right now? Couldn't be, specially next to the Principal and in front of the whole class. "We'll see."
