AFTER LEARNING THAT WILL WAS HIDING FROM THE DEMOGORGAN, Mike came up with a ridiculous plan to try and save him. It was called Operation Mirkwood. They all met up at his house the next morning before school, showing him what they brought to go on their rescue mission.
"We'll just tell our parents we have AV club after school. That'll give us at least a few hours for Operation Mirkwood." Mike told the three in front of him, each of them nodding, Lucas doing so hesitantly. He was the only one in the party that didn't trust El.
"You seriously think that the weirdo knows where Will is?" Lucas piped up, his eyes discreetly traveling over to the girl sat on the couch.
"She's not weird." The blonde defended her sister, Eleven turning to smile at her. "Just trust me on this, okay?" Mike spoke before anyone could say anything else. "Okay," Lucas agreed, looking down.
"Did you get the supplies?" Mike asked the group, successfully changing the subject. "Yeah, binoculars from 'Nam, army knife, also from 'Nam, hammer, camouflage bandana, and the wrist rocket!" Lucas exclaimed, excited to be taking some action.
"You're gonna take out the Demogorgan with a slingshot?" Dustin wasn't convinced. "First of all, it's a wrist rocket! Second of all, the Demogorgan's not real. It's made up. But if there is something out there, I'm gonna shoot it in the eye. .and blind it!" Lucas shot the wrist rocket at Dustin, scaring him.
"Dustin, what did you get?" Mike sighed in annoyance. "Well, alrighty, so we've got Nutty Bars, Bazooka, Pez, Smarties, Pringles, Nilla Wafers, apple, banana, and trail mix." The boy grinned. "You're gonna take out the Demogorgan with your snacks?" Grace asked the boy, her eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Seriously, Dustin?" Lucas scoffed. "We need energy for our travels. For stamina. Besides, why do we even need weapons, anyway? We have her." The boy with curly hair pointed at El, as if it were obvious. "She shut one door!" Lucas told him.
"With her mind! Are you kidding me? That's insane! I bet she could make this fly! Hey, concentrate, okay?" Dustin picked up Mike's UFO, holding it in the air before dropping it. His smile faded as soon as the UFO hit the ground. He tried again, this time it floated in the air, everyone turning to look at Eleven. It wasn't her though. Their gazes drifted to Grace, the girl wiping blood that was dripping from her nose.
"Surprise. . ." The blonde sent the boys a smirk, El nodding at her approvingly. She didn't exactly plan to tell let them know like this. The blonde simply saw a chance to get it off her chest and took it.
"What the fuck?!" Dustin was the first to freak out. Mike and Lucas blew up after him. They were all pacing around the basement, throwing question after question at the girl, her not being able to answer them.
"How long have you been keeping this from us?"
"How did we not know?"
"We're supposed to be your best friends!"
"We tell each other everything!"
"My best friends a fucking super human!"
"Kids! Time for school!" Karen called out to them, the boys rushing to grab their things to go. The UFO dropped to the ground.
Grace made her way to El, followed by Mike, who was yet to tell the girl his plan. "Don't make any noise, and don't leave. If you get hungry, eat Dustin's snacks, okay?" Mike assured the quiet girl.
"You know those power lines behind his house, right? Meet us there, after school." The blonde told El, popping a piece of gum into her mouth. She snagged it from Dustin with her powers when he wasn't looking. "After school?" Eleven was confused. She didn't know what time they got out school. She's never been to school before, only ever experiencing the rainbow room.
"We get out at 3:15," Mike told Eleven, taking off his watch and giving it to her. "When the numbers read three-one-five, meet us there." Mike explained, the girl a lot less confused as he explained it to her.
Eleven nodded to what he was saying, beginning to repeat the numbers so she could remember. The blonde girl kissed El on the cheek, pulling Mike by his hand to go before his mom could yell at them.

DURING THEIR RECESS BREAK, Grace and her friends went to the school field to search for some rocks. They needed something big enough for Lucas to use with his wrist rocket. The blonde girl wasn't one to dig in the dirt, so instead, she stood there looking pretty while they searched through the grass.
"Could this take any longer? I'm bored." Grace complained, staring at her manicure. "You'd be a lot less bored if you helped us instead of complaining." Dustin looked at the girl standing near him, her face scrunching in disgust at what he was suggesting.
"I can't. I just got my nails done." The girl raised her hands in the air, showing off her baby blue nails. The color matched her eyes. The three boys near her groaned in annoyance. "Remind me why we're friends with you again?" Lucas called out jokingly, the blonde gasping in offense until she noticed the look on his face.
"How about this one?" Mike asked as he found a huge rock, showing Dustin.
"Too big for the sling. So, do you think Eleven and Grace were born with their powers, like the X-Men? Or do you think they acquired them, like Green Lantern?" Dustin brought up the subject from earlier. "Why don't you ask me? I'm right here, dingus." Grace thumped Dustin in the forehead, teasing him.
"Well, how did you get them?" The boy retorted, annoyed at the fact that she thumped him. "I was born with mine. So was El, it's not like we knew that though. The people that are after El, they trained us, taught us how to use them and stay in control, but they also locked us away from the world like we were weapons." The girl explained honestly, a hug weight lifted off her chest at the fact that she could talk to them about it.
"We had no idea you had to go through all of that." Mike was the first to speak this time, his voice full of emotions that Grace could feel.
"Yeah, that's kinda the whole point of me keeping it a secret. No one can know about any of this, or I'll get sent back to that place." She spoke seriously, the boys swearing and crossing their hearts.
"What place, Gracie? Is it the same bad place Eleven keeps getting all paranoid about?" Lucas asked his best friend, his curiosity getting the best of him.
"Yeah," The girl nodded, her response stuck in the back of her throat. She didn't get to tell them more because she spotted Troy and his evil minion.
"Hey, there, blondie. What are you doing back here with these losers?" Troy stepped towards the girl, noticing the glare that Mike was sending him. All he could do was smirk at the boy, knowing he likes her.
"Probably looking for their missing friend." The little minion speaks, how adorable. "That's not funny. It's serious. He's in danger." Dustin was quick to defend Will, the others annoyed at his comment.
"I hate to break it to you, Toothless, but he's not in danger. He's dead. That's what my dad says. He said he was probably killed by some other queer." Troy began to laugh at his own joke, his minion doing the same. Grace started to clench her fist, long nails digging into the skin, creating little crescents on her hand.
She raised her fist, so close to punching his lights out, but Mike stopped her. "Come on. Just ignore them." He rubbed circles on her knuckles. The blonde felt herself calm down as she felt his emotions.
Mike wasn't bothered by what they were saying. He was just a little annoyed. As soon as they started to walk away, Troy stuck his leg out in an attempt to trip Mike, but Grace was already ahead of him.
She turned her head to the side, laughing as his pants fell down, resulting in him tripping and falling on top of his evil minion friend.
All of her friends turned to the girl, her laughter making them laugh as well. She stopped laughing when Mike reached forward with a tissue he pulled out of his pocket. He smiled at her, wiping her nose. She wondered if he started carrying them just for her.
The girl felt like her heart was nearly exploding out of her chest. He was so close. Personal space must not be in Mike's dictionary, in fact, she never realized until now that he was always close to her. It was as if time froze and they were the only two there. As cliché as it sounded, that was her first time feeling butterflies swarming in her stomach. The feeling was so foreign to her, so beautiful, and she opted to feel it more often.
Their moment was ruined when Troy and his minion stormed into the opposite direction, cursing and saying they would get revenge. They all started to laugh again when Dustin bowed in front of Grace like she was a God. "All hail the queen, Grace Baker," Dustin exclaimed, a smirk on his face at her awesomeness.
"You are so dorky, Henderson." The girl told the boy, nonetheless bowing at her friends. While Dustin was on the ground, he found the perfect rock.
"Hey, what about this one?" The boy stood up with a grin, showing them all.
"Yeah, man, this is it." Mike was a lot happier than he was a few minutes ago, his mind stuck on Grace. He never thought he could fall harder for her, but she always knew how to prove him wrong somehow.
"Oh, yeah, this is the monster killer!" Lucas cheered, his smile the biggest one out of the bunch.
