arabella sat there at the lounge area in the mall with the others. serena was chatting with mason, sipping her strawberry frozen lemonade at times.

the red headed girl slouched in the mostly uncomfortable chair. she shoved some cinnamon nuggets down her throat.

walker watched her silently as malachi bickered into his ear. "what's so special about her?" he asked turning his head towards malachi again.

"what's not special about her?" malachi corrected with a smug look in his eye but still slightly truthful. walkers eyebrows raised in surprise and hummed.

arabella sipped her blue raspberry frozen lemonade, oblivious to the conversation that was happening to the side of her. she then put another cinnamon nugget in her mouth. call her big, but they're good.

serena grinned towards her, leaving the conversation with mason with an "excuse me for one sec." she walked towards arabella's chair she was sitting in.

"that adorable actor just asked me out!" she said hushed with a smirk. arabellas eyebrows furrowed in concern.

"you just met him today!" arabella replied quickly to her best friend that was already falling. malachi watched her. her hair looked effortless, as well as her mascara and lipgloss that was lightly put on.

serena opened her mouth slightly and then closed it. she then waved a hand at her, pretending like she was shewing away a fly. "we don't mind that part. besides, we deserve each other-"

"you and mason, yeah yeah." arabella said with a little roll in her eyes. walker hit malachi on the shoulder to get his attention. malachi pushed the hand off his shoulder.

serena laughed at her exact words that was gonna say. "shut up!" she continued, hitting her best friend with a flush in her cheeks.

arabella shook her head looking down with a grin. "hey we're gonna go to a candy shop- wanna come?" mason asked the group, making all of them glance towards him.

"yeah!" serena said with a grin. she looked towards arabella to see her answer. walker nodded saying some words to mason. malachi looked towards arabella, wanting- no, needing her answer.

"uh no thanks. i've had enough candy in the past week." she said with a small laugh. serenas eyes widened, asking for permission if she could go. they did everything together, and both felt betrayed if someone did something without the other.

arabella tilted her head and rolled her eyes, the smile still on her face as she smiled. "go." she said, gesturing towards the boys with her hand.

"aren't you like- eating sugar right now?" walker asked with his eyebrows furrowed, his eyes going to the cinnamon nuggets that are clearly filled with sugar.

arabella lifted her eyebrows up in surprise at his answer, not expecting that. she put her finger up to her mouth as if telling him to keep a secret. malachi laughed.

peoples attention turned to malachi. he still hasn't answered the question. masons head cocked at him, asking for an answer. "i would rather not."

arabella watched him, inspecting him. she noticed how his eyes looked a bit of a lighter brown than they usually did- or in his photos per say. she also noticed how there was still a tinge of dark red in his hair since the filming of zombies four. she quickly blinked when he noticed.

"right." serena said with a slight smile on her face. she looked between arabella and malachi with a slight teasing look. "have funn!" she continued in a sing songy tone, walking with walker and malachi.

once the boys and serena were a safe distance away all that was happening was eye contact and silence. it wasn't comfortable, more like awkward.

arabella cleared her throat awkwardly. "so.. what are you doing here?" she asked, playing with the ends of her hair slightly. it wasn't every other day that you hang out with one of your least favorite humans.

"hanging out with my friends." he said, his lips forming a thin line. he then nodded after he said it. arabella nodded slowly after.

"right." she said. she looked down for a second before back up at him. "we're gonna have to talk." she continued a side of her smile going up slightly. she tried to act polite but it was getting to her now.

"we don't even know how long they're gonna take. might as well." malachi said with a grin at the suggestion. arabellas eyebrows furrowed in curiosity so she went on.

they sat in another small silence. they were just inspecting each other. their eyes, their body language, anything.

"sorry for giving you stalker vibes." he said, his smile growing a bit at the thought. they weren't serious about it, just a joke.

arabella pretended to think for a second, putting a finger up to her chin while doing it. "ill have to think if i can forgive you for that one." she teased. a smile was slowly creeping onto her face.

"you're annoying." he said with a laugh at the end, looking down at her. arabella tilted her head at him with a shrug. she would have to be friendly to him, and if she was being honest she was starting to like their sarcastic banter.

she hummed before answering. "maybe i am. but you like it." she said still with a small smile on her face, looking at him. he watched her with a look in his eyes that arabella couldn't quite analyze.

"guys guys- we forgot to pay!" mason said hushed with a look of shock on his face after they walked out from the store. a candy bag was in each of their hands.

"you forgot?" arabella asked, her mouth in a gap. "how did you guys forget!" arabella said hitting mason on the arm. mason rubbed his arm after.

"we don't know-" walker started before getting cut off. serena was slightly panicking, cause how does someone forget to pay?

"whatever we just need to get out of the mall." malachi said surprisingly calm. he grabbed arabellas arm softly, his hand slightly brushing yours as he brought his hand up to her arm.

arabella didn't say anything but she got a feeling just from that small gesture that was on accident. they quickly walked out of the mall, trying not to attract any attention.

this was definitely something that could get them in trouble with their team, but they had fun and thats all that had mattered in the moment.
