Chapter | 1
Coming back to Mystic Falls wasn't something I planned on doing but unless I want to spend the rest of my life alone, it was something I had to do.
Now moving into the town I realized that I didn't think about what I was going to do when I actaully arrived, just because I'm a vampire doesn't mean I think things through.
I knew who I was looking for but I didn't know where they were exactly, in fact I barely remembered where anything was in this god forsaken town.
Looking around, there was a small gaggle of teens chatting and laughing in front of a building, so me being me I attempted to approach them and managed to forget that I was wearing a Victorian style dress from a get together I was at.
The get together was extremely boring, some vampires just dont know how to live in the 21st century properly, get a cheeseburger or something, I don't want to eat a three course meal every time I come over to say hello.
Okay so it wasn't all bad because I found out something very important, like the best important piece of information I've heard in my immortal life.
Right, explanation time I guess.
I put on the uncomfortable scratchy, tight corset before laying the soft fabric of the dress over it, sometimes I would wear one of those metal skirt things but...there's no excuse I just didn't want to.
The person hosting the party was someone I knew well so I couldn't just bail and make up a not-so believable excuse as to why I couldn't make it.
Anyway I digress, I walked up to the hall and opened the large wooden door and the rich smell of human blood nearly knocked me over, she really went all out.
There were mainly vampires there but a few witches and werewolves were scattered around who knew the host personally.
The host...she's a tricky person to get along with, she's arrogant, self absorbed and spiteful.
I would say that she could be nice but Adrianá Solertlé doesn't have a kind bone in her body.
The only reason she invites me is because...actually that's a story for another time.
I walked through the door and spotted Evander, a male witch who occasionally asks in favours in exchange for information he has. Basically the gossiper of the party.
As I approached he lifted his eyes and a cheeky grin spread on his face.
"Long time no see sweetheart" he said as he placed a kiss on my cheek in greeting.
"I have a feeling you did that on purpose" I replied, poking his cheek with my pinky.
"Although I have no idea why, I'm a delight to be around" I added with a grin.
"Agree to disagree?" He asked teaseingly, tilting his head to the side.
I shoved his shoulder with my palm as I fake frowned at him. We both burst into laughter, earning a few amused glances from passing guests.
"You haven't changed one bit" I observed, still smiling.
"Why would I change when I'm already perfect" he exclaimed, spreading his arms and turning in a circle.
"And modest as ever" I mumbled.
He rolled his eyes at me before he slapped himself on the forehead and muttered a wide variety of curses which I will definitely not repeat.
"Language Evander" I scolded, looking around with a smile at the few people who heard.
"April I have some information that I need to give you" he whispered, all signs of joking gone.
"I dont have time to do favours right now Andy" I sighed.
"No this piece is for free" he said seriously.
That's how I knew it was imperative I heard that piece of information.
"Well what are you waiting for?" I said, impatiently.
"I shouldn't tell you when other people are around" he looked around the room and tapped his fingers on his leg nervously.
"I...later 6:00 fountain out back" I ordered, walking towards someone who called out to me.
Going through the evening, talking to people was just a distraction for the worry I was feeling about the information.
When 6:00 finally came around, I excused myself saying I was going to get some fresh air and made my way towards the fountain where Evander and his wife were waiting.
They watched me approach before looking around to see if anyone was near to eavesdrop.
"Sophia, its lovely to see you" I said, giving her a quick hug.
"You too" she replied with a tight smile.
"Okay you guys are scaring me, what's going on?" I whispered.
"Right, okay, right well I, okay-"
"Not making it any better" I pointed out at her nervous sputtering.
"Okay but before we tell you, you need to wait until the end to speak" Evander stated.
I nodded my head and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear before leaning forward as he began to speak.
"So I heard from Frank who heard from Percy who heard from Jason who-" he cut himself off as I stared at him blankly.
"Stefan and Damon are still alive" he blurted out and I felt like somebody just hit me in the stomach with a boulder.
I started hyperventilating as my knees felt weak.
"Y-you're k-kidding right" I managed to say, looking from Sophia to Evander for an answer.
"We wouldn't kid about this sweetheart" he said gently, holding me by my arm so I didnt collapse.
I felt tears well in my eyes as I thought about the two people who I loved more than anything in the whole world. Only one thing was going through my head, impossible.
"No" was the only word I managed to say, a tear slipped from my eye and Sophia gently wiped it away before pulling me into a hug and rubbing my back soothingly.
"I'm sorry maybe we shouldn't have said anything" she murmured.
"How...how can they be alive...how didn't I know before. She told me they were dead" I said, mainly to myself.
"No offence but...it's Katerina, you shouldn't trust her with anything" he tried to joke but I knew he was right, i shouldn't have trusted her.
"You're right, I can't believe I trusted her and now I don't know what to do" my words came out muffled as my face was squished into Sophia's shoulder.
She pulled back and held my arms in her hands.
"You should go find them" she stated firmly.
"But what if they dont like me anymore, what if Katerina told them something about me to make them hate me or what if-" I rambled but was cut off by Evander.
"No, no what ifs, we know where they are and we'll even take you there if you want" he said and Sofia nodded her head in agreement.
"And there is no way in hell that they'd hate you, you're their mate" she added before placing a marble ball into my hand.
"Um what's that" I asked staring at the black and white stone in my hand.
"Its a 'just in case'" she answered with a small frown.
"Forrrrr" I asked worriedly.
"Well" she started, looking over at her husband for a second before continuing.
"I don't know exactly, it's a witch thing" she sighed frustrated.
I was too far in my head to pay too much attention to what she was saying, they were alive and Katerina had better hope that she died a long time ago.
