Blurs. That was all you could make sense of. Everything around you washed into the same pattern. "Hang on there.." Yelena spoke, carrying you piggyback style. You tried to preserve with the dizzy feeling, fighting to keep your fluttering eyelashes open, but to no avail. All you wanted was to give into the sleep that doomed over you like a dark cloud.
You tilted your head the slightest bit, analysing the architecture of the building in front of you; the headquarters.
The minutes ticked as they walked you through the door, at the same moment you heard gasps around you, causing you to look up to see familiar faces, they were all gathered at the large table of the mess-hall. Their gazes were focused on the global map Onyankopon was showing them, but now shifted to you as they got on their feet, the only one who kept sitting was the red-head.
"What the hell happened?!" The ash-brown haired male you'd come to know as 'Jean' in the past week asked, his brown eyes wide in shock.
"We got into a bar-fight." Nicolo replied next to you as some gasped and others grunted in annoyance.
"Why?" Connie asked as the ravenette next to him heaved a sigh, she wasn't surprised to say the least.
"It's because.." You breathed, "I insulted them.. I couldn't keep my damn mouth shut and they figured out that we're Marleyan."
"Serves you right for being a loudmouth." You heard an all too familiar voice and your gaze shifted to the red-head at the table. "No one would shy away from messing up that pretty face of yours.. if you won't know your place."
"Hey, Floch, leave her be already." Jean interfered as the red-head rolled his hazel eyes.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that, just for your sake." You hissed, your (e/c) narrowed at the male.
"Wow.." He clapped sarcastically, a smirk tugging at his lips. "You have a vocabulary that expands beyond insults? That's pretty impressive for a barbaric air-head like you."
You swallowed the slowly building anger within you, "Maybe you'd hear less insults from me, if you'd just re-adjust your attitude problem."
Everyone's gazes shifted between the two of you as the atmosphere started to get awkward. "They sure love bickering with each other." Connie sighed as Sasha started to snort, "Well, Floch is a thirsty guy, and (Y/n) is a tall glass of water!"
You immediately felt the heat rise to your cheeks as your nose scrunched up, "What the-"
"Why is she blushing?" You heard Onyankopon say.
"Why is Floch blushing?!"
"At least he doesn't pick on Armin anymore!"
"Sasha, you idiot!" Jean groaned as she slapped the back of her head, "What are you going to do about this weird atmosphere now?!"
Your eyes darted at the red-head who was smirking and pointed his finger to the side of his head, trying to make you attentive to the bruise at the side of your face, yet your embarrassed and still intoxicated state caused you to mistake his innocent gesture and made it seem like he was asking you if you were stupid instead.
Your mouth etched into a frown as you looked away, clearly having enough of human interaction for the day. "I'm tired."
You felt the sharp breath that Yelena inhaled, "Please excuse us." She said before turning to the left and walking away with you.
"Goodnight, (Y/n)." You heard Nicolo say before you and Yelena left the mess-hall.
You were gently placed on your bed upon entering your shared room. You slowly sat up with a sigh as you observed your surroundings. "I'll be back later, rest." The tall female spoke monotonously as she left the room.
You were left alone and hungry, too prideful to ask for food, bringing your knees closer to yourself, you wrapped your arms around them in a comforting manner as you hid your face behind your knees.
You heard the door open and immediately looked up, just to meet the grey eyes of the ravenette in front of you, behind her stood the mahogany-haired female you'd come to know as 'Sasha'.
"Hey, you alright?" Sasha asked as she walked towards you and took a seat on the edge of your bed. You immediately backed away, "What the hell do you want?!"
"We came here to treat your wounds." The raven-haired girl replied with her expressionless face, holding a roll of bandages, with a thread, needle and a bottle of hydrogen-peroxide in her hands, causing you to stare at her in confusion. "I don't understand.."
"Floch told the captain about you," Sasha interfered, "So captain Levi ordered us to treat your wounds."
"Huh?!" Now you were just beyond confused, "He..? Why would he.."
"Tie your hair up." The ravenette interrupted you, before handing you a hairband which you hesitantly took. "Sasha, you should stitch up the cut on her upper arm."
"Is it that deep?" The mahogany-haired female asked.
"It looks like it is." You heard the taller girl say as she tried to examine the cut on your arm. "Take off your shirt." She demanded, "And tie up your hair already."
"You don't have to do this.." You muttered, confused as to why they would even want to help you in the first place.
Sasha shook her head vigorously as she snatched the hairband from your hands and sat down behind you on the bed, grabbing a handful of your (h/c) hair and tying it up into a ponytail. "The side of your face is swollen."
At her words, you immediately went to touch it and flinched once your fingers came into contact with your face. Then it clicked and you understood what Floch was trying to say, making you want to face-palm yourself for your own stupidity. You immediately started to unbutton your shirt as the raven-haired girl gave sasha the threat and needle, "Why are you helping me?"
"Why shouldn't we?" Sasha asked, looking puzzled, "You're human, just like us."
Your once wide (e/c) eyes softened at her words as you stared down at your lap, not knowing what to say. "O-oh.."
Maybe you were wrong about them from the very beginning. "What's your name?"
"You don't know my name?" You questioned the girl in front of you, furrowing your eyebrows. You'd expected her to know your name since it had been mentioned more than enough in the past week.
"I do," She replied, nodding her head, "I just wanted to see if you still know your name, seems like you got beaten up pretty badly."
Of course she knew.
You smiled at her sense of humor as you replied somewhat cautiously; "(Y/n) (L/n), and yours?"
"Mikasa Ackerman."
You froze, you had heard of her before. Zeke had mentioned the two Ackerman's he'd never like to face again, and she was, as you now figured out, the second one next to their captain.
"Oh.." You gulped, "I've heard of you before."
"What did you hear?" She asked with a slight hint of curiosity in her voice while she sat down on the chair next to your bed.
"Well.."
