CHAPTER SIX:
lost girls

Samuel didn't go home, he wondered around for what felt like hours. Going from bar to bar until they kicked him out and refused service. Part of him felt a sense of sadness when he was shoved into the darkness of the world.

All alone, he stumbled down the road holding onto a bottle of alcohol he stole. He hummed too himself, his mind fuzzy and all over the place.

He kicked at the rocks with force, when he heard them clatter along the road he'd smile. He paused for a moment when he felt his body tense up.

The hairs on the back of his neck rose, making him feel uneasy as he looked around. All he saw was darkness and it was silent.

He walked faster his body aching as he rubbed at his neck. The bottle in his hand flew towards the ground "shit" he groaned when he felt fingers wrapping around his throat.

The pressure was intense as he felt his body slam into a tree. He practically felt the bark of it snapping at the impact.

He hissed in discomfort as he looked at the woman who held onto him. He tugged at her arm but she pushed it away. He shivered when he felt her fingers touch his neck.

"It's still there" he moved slightly, his expression frowning at her words. She sensed it and looked at him her eyes softened for a moment.

"The bite mark" her grip loosened and Samuel groaned as he rubbed at his throat. "I can't have one night where I'm not being attacked".

He pushed himself off the tree pushing his jacket over the bite mark. "I bit you weeks ago. It should've healed by now".

Samuel huffed "tell me about it, this thing is annoying. The amount of people I'd lie to about it. Normally they heal after like a few days".

She hummed to herself as she walked back and forth "you gonna tell me why you're here?" she paused looking at Samuel.

She moved forward slowly "I need to be sure". She bit down into his neck making him yell out in pain. The bite mark from before ripped itself open making him hiss in discomfort.

She pushed him into the tree harshly her grip tightened as she moved back for a moment. "I'll just kill you.. that'll solve the problem".

He yelled out when she bit into his neck once more, the pain slammed into his body faster this time. He acted fast and slammed his vervain bracelet into her cheek making her cry out.

"Stop!" he ran away quickly his fingers pressing into his neck as blood gushed onto his flesh. He yelled out when she grabbed his arm tugging him back harshly. He let out a shaky breath as he groaned, he was ready for the end.

She let him go, she was silent as she looked at him "I'm sorry...." she ran away. Samuel blinked trying to remain awake as he ran down the road.

Damon Salvatore was trapped in his home, boredom tugged away at his flesh every second. No amount of bourbon cleansed the hatred he felt. He sat on the couch, blankly staring at the corpse on the floor as he waited.

The sun would be gone in a few hours and he'd finally be out of this place. He had only hoped Stefan would give him his ring back.

He stood up his glass empty, it was silent until a loud pound slammed against the front door. He could smell blood the second he neared it.

He opened the door carefully the sun shining brightly down onto Samuel. The boy groaned as blood gushed out the side of his neck.

He didn't say anything as he threw himself into the house. Damon slammed the door shut "what happened!" Samuel let out a weak breath.

"She attacked me again, the woman from before" the boy looked pale as he struggled to form words. Damon helped him off the floor biting into his wrist "here you need to drink this".

Samuel pushed his arm away "I'd rather not die with it in my system". Damon sighed "you're so stubborn Samuel". He set the boy down onto the couch running into the bathroom.

Samuel leaned into the cushions as he held his wound. Damon returned with the first aid kit "sorry for getting blood on your ugly ass couch".

Damon huffed "it's not ugly!" Samuel rolled his eyes as he pulled his jacket off. "God I feel like I'm gonna pass out" Damon looked at the wound.

"You should've just taken my blood, that wound would be gone in seconds". Samuel smacked Damon's arm away from his face once more.

"No! I don't want your blood Damon" Samuel groaned as he rubbed at his forehead. "I feel like I'm burning all over the place".

"You'll be fine if you just take my blood" Samuel huffed in annoyance as he grabbed Damon's wrist. "If I die with this shit in my system, I'm kicking your ass the second I wake up".

He let the blood go into his mouth before gagging in disgust. Damon moved his wrist back when Samuel sat up coughing it back up.

"Well that's new..." Samuel groaned "it didn't work, what the hell!". Damon bit into his other arm "maybe it wasn't enough, here try again".

Samuel moved forward letting the blood go into his mouth once more. The second it touched his tongue he coughed it back out.

Damon sighed "somethings definitely wrong. Why isn't it working" Samuel groaned as he laid back down "it's weird man. When she bit me the first time... it didn't go away".

"You mean it didn't heal" Samuel nodded as he let out a weak breath "when she attacked me tonight... she seemed really interested in it. Like she was gonna kill me because it didn't heal... but she let me go and apologized".

Damon sighed "what did she look like?" Samuel sat up "she was blonde, and had blue eyes.. and she had an accent. Sounded British or something".

Damon pressed a bandage into Samuels wound making him hiss in discomfort. "Doesn't sound familiar, I don't think I've heard of her before".

Samuel sighed "She looked familiar, that was the creepy part of it all... I mean when I saw her clearly. I could've sworn I saw her in my dreams".

Samuel blinked for a moment as he leaned into the couch "I'm gonna pass out" his eyes closed.

Elena had a long day, she couldn't believe Stefan Salvatore was a vampire. Making things worst, Damon Salvatore had turned Vicki. She was terrified of what could happen now.

Jeremy stood in the kitchen worried about Vicki. Elena could sense the distress he was feeling as she held onto her phone "Sams not picking up, did he tell you where he was going?".

Jeremy shrugged his shoulders as he walked towards the stairs "just said he was going out". Elena sighed as she pushed her phone into her pocket.

The doorbells rings making her walk towards it, she opens it gasping at the sight of Damon. He held onto Samuel who looked exhausted as he leaned into his side.

"Sam! oh god what did you do too him!" Damon sighed deeply as he pushed past Elena.

"You're afraid of me. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess. Stefan finally 'fessed up".

Elena went to grab Samuel but Damon moved too fast making her glare at him. "Did you attack him! let him go!". She tugged at Damon's arm harshly.

"Hey, there's no need to be rude! I'm just dropping him off back home.we can cut to the chase if you want. I'm not gonna kill Sam. We made a pact years ago, gotta stick with it if I want a drinking buddy".

"What are you talking about! are you saying my brother is your friend...". Damon huffed as he walked up the stairs "We spent months together just drinking and talking. It's no wonder he didn't mention you're his sister. Your annoying".

Elena followed after the duo "I don't care if you're his friend. Stay away from him!". Damon pushed Samuels bedroom door open.

"You know he's just gonna come crawling back to me. We've spent years helping each other get over our pasts. He's not gonna stay away".

Samuel groaned when he was set down on the bed "he told you about his past... Sam doesn't tell anyone about that. Not even Jeremy".

Damon rolled his eyes "he told me all about it. Of course he was wasted when he mentioned it. He was a wreak, crying and he just kinda told me".

Elena looked at Samuel "I don't want you around him. You'll get him killed".

Damon looked at Elena harshly "if it weren't for me! He'd have been dead right now. While you were busy running around with Stefan. He was bleeding out on my couch".

"It's an ugly couch" the duo turned looking at Samuel who sat up. "You two talk really loud" he sighed deeply as he rubbed at his eyes.

"Sam, why didn't you tell me you knew Damon" the boy stood up from the bed "You didn't ask, so I didn't tell you".

Samuel pushed his window open "don't worry, he's not gonna murder me or anything". Elena sighed as Damon grinned "I don't trust him Sam...".

Samuel turned looking at Elena "well I trust him, he's my friend Elena". She stormed out of the room angrily making him sigh.

"You know she's right-" Samuel looked at Damon "-I'm not someone you should trust". Damon left and Samuel stood alone in darkness.
