chapter six - "Clementine what's on your arm?"

⋆·☆·⋆

The sun shined in through Clementine's blinds she stood up and quickly shut them. The first time she had gotten out of bed. She didn't sleep, or moved. She just kept staring at frozen picture of Stefan.

With everything she knew, all the knowledge that was drilled into her head was real.

Everything about vampires, witches, werewolves...it's all true.

She stared at the screen just as a small light knock came from her door. She quickly shut the computer and threw it under her pillow. "Come in,"

The door opened as her dad's head peaked in. "Hey," He started as he walked in, "You ready?" She gave him a confused look tucking the strands behind her ears. "Running?"

"Oh," She said realizing they were supposed to go on their morning run. "Can we do it another time? I'm just not feeling to great."

He frowned lightly, "Are you okay? Do you have fever?" He asked trying to feel her forehead but she back up. "Dad I-I'm fine it's just -- my head." She lied knowing they wouldn't ask anymore questions.

He nodded before smiling lightly, "Okay, call us if you need anything sweetheart." He said before kissing her temple and walked out shutting the door behind him.

She let a sigh of relief out before getting under the covers trying to get any type of sleep.

The weekend went by in a blur she spent them locked in her room. She just couldn't understand anything that was going on.

Suddenly her covers getting thrown off her snapped her from her thoughts. She turned to see her sisters, Millie in her princess costume on Mack's side as Melissa had a large ice coffee in hand. That looked like they poured a whole bottle of creamer in.

"Happy Halloween," The three said softly as Clem smiled sitting up.

She didn't realize it was halloween. Halloween was national holiday in the Lightwood household. They would spent the week watching horror movies and going to haunted houses.

"This is for you," Melissa said handing her the large coffee.

Clem smiled before talking a sip. It was exactly how she liked it. Enough creamer and sugar to give someone a sugar high for the rest of their lives.

"Now that you have the peace offering we have to tell you our real initiations." Mack said as the three sat on the bed.

"Oh no," Clem muttered as Millie climbed up next to her.

"Mom told us to try and get you out of this cave you call a room." The oldest Lightwood sister said. Clem nodded lightly setting the coffee on the nightstand. "Mom didn't tell you I was going to be cave goblin for Halloween?" She joked.

Melissa face fell as she looked at Millie, "Headphones,"

"Headphones what?" She asked gesturing towards her crown. "Headphones princess Millie," Melissa said as she put her hands over her ears.

Clem smiled knowing that every year for Halloween Millie had to go by Princess Millie.

"We're being serious Clem. Mom's saying if you don't get any better she's gunna take you to the hospital." Melissa said making her look down. "Now I don't know if this is because of Damon or something you haven't told me, but I need you get over it and try to get the old Clementine back."

"She's right," Mack started, "You're always excited for Halloween and this year you just...have been stuck in here. I miss seeing you."

She smiled looking away trying not to cry. No matter how many times she could say she was fine her sisters could always see right through her.

She looked back at them and smiled, sniffling lightly. "Yeah,"

"Yeah?" Both asked.

"Yeah, you're both right. I'm gonna make today fun." She said as Melissa smiled widely before hugging her as Mack followed. "Why are we hugging sissy?" Millie asked. "Cause sissy is gunna get ready for Halloween." Melissa said as Clem bopped the little girls nose.

Once her sisters left she got her clothes and decided that taking a hot shower was needed to clear her mind and get her thoughts in order.

She pulled her shirt over her head and dropped it to ground. Than she pushed the curtain the side and got into the shower. Letting the hot water ruin over her body, washing away everything as her mind started drifting.

If Stefan and Damon were vampires why haven't they killed Elena or Caroline? They had every opportunity to do so...but didn't.

Why are they back now and why do they want to mess with them. Why haven't they just killed everyone instead of just messing with us.

How are they feeding? Does a stake into the heart even work? Does vervain?

She got out and dried off, deciding to let her hair air dry. Throwing some sweats on knowing she was gunna get all dressed up later that night.

Her bag was already pack since she didn't touch it. She sighed lightly looking at herself in the mirror. Seeing she looked semi-normal. Knowing that if she could just make it today she could forget about everything tonight.

She jogged down the steps and walked into the living room where her mom was. "I'm off," She announced getting her attention.

"Glad to see your up and about." Prue said smiling at her.

"Yeah I just figured since the Halloween party's tonight I should try and move around." She said as she kissed her cheek. "I'll be home after school,"

"Call me if you need anything, I love you." Prue called as she heard her walk to front door grabbing the car key. "Love you,"

Clementine was in between classes and so far everything was going good.

"I heard they're putting together a search party for Vicki." She heard Tyler say making her stop.

"Wait? What happened with Vicki?" She asked looking at Matt. "You didn't hear?" Tyler asked. "No, I've been...sick."

"She was missing for a bit but she just called. She's ok." Matt informed.

"Oh, good." She said glancing down.

"Yeah, that's great. I figured you must have been goin' out of your mind." The Lockwood teen said. "Little bit, yeah." He confirmed. "I was just gonna offer, you know, if there's anything I could do." Tyler said as Clem nodded in agreeing. "Yeah same here,"

"I appreciate it."

"I have got your costume. It's all here." Caroline exclaimed making Bonnie and Clem turn around. She smiled as she handed Bonnie a bag as she started looking through it. "Seriously?" She asked as Clem saw it was a witch costume.

"Come on. Can someone please be excited that it's Halloween?" Caroline asked leaning against the locker.

"I am," The small brunette said.

"I just wanna have fun, you know, just some silly, fluffy, Damon-free fun." The blonde girl said as she nodded.

"Hey, isn't this the one you got from Damon?" Bonnie asked holding up the yellow stones necklace.

"Yep. Wear it. Toss it. I don't care. I just want it gone."

"Okay," She replied slowly.

"Hey, has either of you seen Elena?" Clem asked.

"No, but do we know what she's wearing?" Caroline asked. "I was with Grams all weekend. I haven't talked to her, maybe she's with Stefan."

Clem took a deep breath feeling the inside of her body jolt at his name.

"Riding to his castle on his white horse."

"Don't be bitter. It provokes wrinkles." Bonnie comment made Caroline scoff. "Clem?" The blonde asked changing the subject, turning her attention towards the small girl. "Do you have your costume?"

"Yup, all the Lightwood sister's went costume shopping like they do every year. Oh and Mack's coming to the party. So if you see her drinking any type of alcohol you have my permission to drag her by the ear and find me." She informed as the bell ringed as the three made their way to class.

It was now dark outside and Clem had just finished getting ready. Mental going back and forth deciding if this was a good idea. Trying to figure out if Melissa was right about the costume.

She was dressed up as a black angle. Black mini dress, black thigh highs, headband and wings. She even slicked her bangs back and made it so it would blend into her pony. Quickly turned around in the mirror to make sure there wasn't anything on her butt or wings.

She leaned closer to the mirror to check her makeup. "Clemmy we're leaving!" Melissa yelled from downstairs.

She smiled at herself, grabbing her bag. "I'm coming, I'm coming."

Everyone turned towards the stairs hearing her footsteps. "Look at you!" Melissa exclaimed seeing her.

"My love, you beautiful," Prue gushed watching her join the line of daughters. They were lined up in order from oldest to youngest.

"Think she might want to bring a coat, I heard it's gunna get cold." Michael muttered getting nudged by his wife. "Honey," She warned. "I know I know, uh, Clem there's something in the basement that I need you to help me with." He said as she nodded before following him down to the basement.

He opened one of the trunks and pulled out a leather holder with two stacks tucked into loops. He gave it to her as she pulled up her dress a bit and tied it around her left thigh.

"I wasn't going to have you cary one much less two. But something happened over the weekend." He said crossing his arms.

She glanced up, showing that she was listening, as she fixed the holder.

"A vampire drank a few teen's dry and than burned them." She stopped and looked up at him. "Thought that was a drug deal gone wrong?" She asked mimicking his pose.

"That's was Sheriff Forbes said to ruin. But Clementine I want you to watch after Mack. I know you normal do but I need you to watch after her." He said putting inferences on watch.

She nodded smiling lightly, "I will, I promise."

"Cider for the ladies? It's a Lockwood special."

"No way. Last year, I was hung over until Thanksgiving." Bonnie explained. "Lightweight. I am going to drink until someone is hot enough to make out with." Caroline said taking the drink.

"Sounds like a plan."

"And what am I chopped liver?" Clem asked making them turn towards her.

"Clementine you... I'm at lost of words," Bonnie said as they scanned the small girl up and down. "You look hot," Tyler said grinning lightly.

She shrugged, "I'll take that,"

"Who do we have to thank for getting you all hot and sexy tonight?" Caroline asked.

"Melissa, she screamed and than threw me into the fitting room." She explained smiling. "But of course her and Mack ditch me as soon as we get here."

"Wait little Mack is here?" Tyler asked as Clem nodded. "And if you offer her any Lockwood cider I'll gut you like a fish." She threatened.

"Yes ma'am," He joked making her shake his head.

"Now if you excuse I need to find the little angle room." She said excuses herself.

She walked into the school seeing the school decked out. They had fog and these crazy colored lights. It actually made her happy seeing how decorated it was.

She was half way to the bathroom when she saw Elena, Matt, Vicki and Stefan. She was going to walk by and not bat an eye until she heard Vicki say something. "I told you to quit bothering me." She said pushing Stefan away from her.

"No. Vicki, don't do this." Elena pleaded.

"Matt, he won't leave me alone." She said but than turned and saw Clementine. "Clementine you have to help."

"You need to back off, man."

"Matt, it's ─ It's ok."

"No, it's not ok. What the hell is your problem?" He asked getting closer to Stefan but Clem pushed him back. "Calm down," She warned.

Now knowing that Stefan is a vampire she didn't Matt to get him mad because someone would end up dead.

"Stefan, she's gone!" Elena exclaimed running off as Clem went after her.

She didn't know why but she had this feeling that something wasn't right. That something was seriously wrong with Vicki and she wanted to help.

Elena didn't answer any of Clem's questions she was just hell bent on trying to find Jeremy. Finally the brunette had enough, "Elena!" She grabbed her wrist so she would stop and look at her. "What the hell is going on?!"

She took a breath, "Something happened with Vicki and she made it appear like she was gunna do something to Jeremy. And I just need you to please help me find him."

"Yeah, of course." She said without thinking.

She grew up with Jeremy, he was like a littler brother to her. And she knew the panic feeling of trying to find your lost sibling.

"Thank you," She sighed as they went back to searching for him. They were going through each hallway and thanks to it being poor lit they pulled person that even sort look liked him.

They were about to separate when they heard someone sounding like him screaming outside. "NO! AAH!"

Elena grabbed a wooden board and running up. She watched as Vicki threw Elena onto some plywood. And just before Clem was about to get into it Stefan came out of nowhere and pinned Vicki against one of the buses.

"Vicki!"

She threw him off her and in a blink of an eye she was gone. Stefan looked over to Elena where Clem had rushed over checking her wound where a piece of wood had stabbed her. "Go. Get inside!"

Elena grabbed Jeremy and Clem and started running back in. Clem stood back knowing what she was gunna have to do.

That's when she saw Vicki's fangs come out as she bit into Elena's shoulder. And quickly grabbed one of the stakes from the holder and ran over to her and pulled her off of Elena.

Vicki scanned her as she flipped the stake so the pointy side wasn't facing her anymore.

As much as Clem didn't want to she knew she had to kill her. All the little memories from when they were younger came to her. But she couldn't think about those. She was a vampire now and she hurting people.

"I'm sorry," She muttered and staked her. She stumbled back looking down at as it fell and died.

Clem watched as she tried to catch her breath. Her first vampire kill, something she thought in a million years wouldn't happen.

She glanced over to see the Salvatore brothers watching in shock not knowing the small girl was capable of doing that. "Clementine?" She turned to see Elena sitting up holding her shoulder.

She than turned to see Stefan holding back a screaming Jeremy. "Get him out of here." She told Stefan.

She watched as Elena went down and touched Vicki's body. Not knowing if she would come back or not Clem held her breath. She than turned when she heard footsteps, seeing it was Damon. "You two both should go. I got this,"

The Gilbert slowly started to get up as Clem went and help her. "You did this. This is your fault."

"You confuse me for someone with remorse." He remarked making Elena try and shove him back but Clem stopped her.

"Elena don't, you are not an any shape to fit." She said.

"None of this matters to me, none of it." He said both ignoring the Lightwood girl.

"People die around you. How could it not matter? It matters and you know it." She said slapping him. He hummed trying to keep his calm. "You need to leave. Your wounds are bleeding, and you need to leave."

Elena grabbed her shoulder before holding onto Clem's forearm. They made it half way before Clementine huffed and turned around. She walked over, bent down and pulled the stake out of Vicki's body. Whipping it off on Damon's jacket, "I should probably take." She said putting it back into the holder on her thigh.

She looked up seeing a slight shocked expression on his face. "You don't want to piss off a Lightwood, Damon."

She walked back to Elena wrapping an arm around her waist for support. They walked out to front, "Elena! Clem! Hey, have you seen-" Matt called to the two. "Who. Wh-what happened?"

"Nothing." Elena shrugged off.

"Some jackass with fake blood got it eveywhere." She quickly lied as Elena nodded. "Yeah, we we're just gonna go home and shower."

"I--I can't find Vicki. She totally bailed on me."

"I don't know where she is. Neither of us have seen her,"

"Is this what I'm in for, a lifetime of worrying about her?" He asked as Clem squeezed her hand, letting her know she could do it. "You're a good brother, Matt."

"Yeah, maybe she went home."

"Maybe," The small brunette breathed out. She than lead Elena to her car, getting her into the passenger seat before getting into the driver's seat.

The car drive was silent only filled with Elena's sniffs from her silent crying. Clem didn't cry, didn't get teary eye it was like she couldn't break down. She had to be strong, she had to be the shoulder to cry on.

Once they arrived at Elena's house she helped her up the stairs where Stefan was waiting.

"Where is he?"

"Inside." He answered as Elena quickly slipped away from the small winged girl and went inside. Leaving only her and Stefan on the porch. Awkward silence filled the air.

"So do all the Lightwood's believe in vampires?" He asked breaking it.

She nodded slightly, "Somewhat," She moved and leaned on one of the porch railings. "My little sisters don't know about any of it. Melissa, the one you meet at the party, she doesn't. But my parents do,"

She knew she couldn't competently trust him but seeing how he was with Elena helped.

"How'd you know?" She heard Damon's voice suddenly asked appearing on the other side of the porch.

"It wasn't that hard,"

"How?" He insisted getting closer to her.

"An attack in the 50's and a sorten someone's face popped up in the background." She answered crossing her arm's trying to get some space in between the two. "Now I would ask Stefan to run me home but he's trying to be a good boyfriend so would you mind?"

"And if I say you can walk?" He challenged leaning closer to her.

"I still have two stakes," She challenged back looking up at him. He grinned and before she knew it she was home, on her front porch.

She pulled his arm's off her waist and started towards the front door.

"I do have two question," He said getting her attention. "How come compulsion never worked?"

She pointed to her charm bracelet, "This plus my parents have vervain all our drinks." She said shifting her weight slowly regretting her heel choice. "And the second answer?"

"Did you really like me?"

"Goodnight Damon." She said before turning around and walking inside. She threw her purse onto the bag hook.

"Who's home?!" She heard her mother asked.

"It's me, I got a ride from Elena." She said walking into the living room. Her mom and Dad were cuddled up on the couch watching a movie.

"Clementine what's on your arm?" Michael asked seeing bloody hand prints on her arm's.

She looked down seeing it was where Elena was using for support. "That's why I'm home. This idiot with fake blood got it all over me and Elena and the fake cob web's where getting stuck to me." She rambled.

She than leaned down and pulled the holder off. "Here I didn't need these tonight." She lied hopping her dad wouldn't look to much at it.

"Keep it, hide it in your closet. I've been meaning for you to keep one in your room." He said as she nodded and smiled. She quickly ran up to her room and than shoved it into the back of her closet.

She let out a loud and heavy sigh sitting down at her vanity. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her hair was tangled, her makeup was smudged, but she didn't look the same. She didn't feel the same. It was like a piece of her died when she killed Vicki. The piece that was innocent and wanting to see nothing but the good in people. And that's when she started crying feeling the lump in her throat forming knowing she could never get that person back.
