"Hey, Riva! Riva, wake up!" I shook her gently, but she remained unresponsive.

Just then, a slurred voice interrupted me. "Who are you? Leave her!" It was the same man who had grabbed Riva's hands earlier.

I sized him up quickly. He was either incredibly brave or utterly foolish to think he could attack Riva within the Randhawa Palace grounds.

The man stumbled towards me, his eyes fixed on Riva. I could smell the stench of alcohol on his breath as he shouted, "Leave her, she's mine!"

I took a deliberate step back, holding Riva securely in my arms. The man's hands paused mid-air, and for a moment, we locked eyes.

"It's none of your business, Mr.," he said "Just leave us alone."

He tried to intimidate me with a childish glare, but I stood my ground. Reasoning with a drunken man was futile, so I scooped Riva up in my arms and strode towards the restaurant.

The man was surprisingly brazen, chasing after me and shouting obscenities. I quickened my pace, eager to escape the scene.

"Guards! Make sure to throw this trash in the trash bin." I instructed the guards standing at the lobby gate. They were all looking between me, Riva, and the man who had been chasing us, but I didn't need to explain everything.

I took Riva to one of the rooms reserved for guests. As I walked, I felt people's eyes following me everywhere. I just hoped I wouldn't catch the media's attention.

After placing her in bed, I decided to call Vritika to help Riva. I didn't think it was a good idea to leave her alone in a new place, but she didn't answer, even after the fourth ring.

I pondered for a moment about whom to call next. After a long, internal battle, I decided to call Ava, and surprisingly, she answered.

"What new truth is waiting for me?" she asked cockily.

This was going to be harder than I thought. I began weighing the consequences of my words, remembering how she hadn't forgiven me in the hospital. Why did I have to deal with all of this?

"I'm waiting!" Ava's voice thundered through the phone.

"Uhmm... Your friend is unconscious. I don't know how to wake her up!" I explained, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Which friend?" Ava's tone turned serious.

"Riva," I replied.

Ava let out a long sigh before asking, "Where are you?"

"In the hotel suite. Room number 5005," I answered.

The line went dead as Ava ended the call abruptly.

As I turned around, my gaze fell upon the girl sleeping peacefully on the bed. My mind began to reel, wondering what had transpired in the brief moments I'd stood there earlier. I recalled seeing her engaged in conversation with that man, and deciding to give them space, I'd stepped aside. But then, her desperate cry for help had pierced the air.

"What the hell happened in that instant?" I asked aloud, my voice barely above a whisper.

Perhaps it was my voice or the sound of my movements, but Riva's eyes began to flutter, and she slowly opened them. "Where am I? Who am I?" she blurted out, her words tumbling forth in a frantic stream.

This girl is certainly a chatterbox, I thought wryly. Taking a deep breath, I approached her calmly. "You're with me, your name is Riva as far as I know, and currently, you're in a hotel room." I stated, walking over to the chair opposite the bed, where I sat down to observe her reaction.

Riva's gaze danced around the room, drinking in the unfamiliar details. Her eyes finally came to rest on me, and she studied my face intently, as if trying to recall every detail. A faint glimmer of recognition sparked in her eyes, followed by a soft whisper of gratitude. "Thanks for your help!"

I raised an eyebrow, curiosity getting the better of me. "I don't think I have the right to ask, but...do you know him? Was he just some random drunk guy?" I asked, my brow furrowed in concern.

Riva's cheeks flushed, and she scratched the back of her head, looking endearingly sheepish. "Yeah...kind of!" she admitted, her voice laced with a hint of embarrassment.

"That's probably why he felt emboldened to act that way in this place," I said, my mind still reeling from the events that had transpired.

I fell silent, unsure of how to proceed, and decided to wait for Ava's arrival to help navigate the situation.

"I've called Ava; she'll be here soon," I mentioned, trying to reassure Riva.

But to my surprise, Riva's expression turned anxious. "Thanks, but I don't think that's a good idea. She must be busy with her function. I should just leave."

Riva began to stand up, looking around the room frantically. "What are you looking for?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"My phone," she replied, her brow furrowed in concern.

"I think it's still in the garden. I didn't pick it up," I admitted.

Just as we were in the midst of a conversation, a knock at the door interrupted us, shattering the tense silence. I got up to answer it, and upon opening the door, I was greeted by Shubhra and Adwait standing in the hallway, their faces etched with concern. I ushered them in, guiding Shubhra to Riva's side.

Shubhra's eyes locked onto Riva's pale face, and her expression turned grave. "What happened? How did you become unconscious?" Shubhra asked, her voice firm but gentle, as she sat down across from Riva.

Riva's eyes dropped, and she sighed heavily before responding, "Arjun was here." The mere mention of his name seemed to weigh her down.

Shubhra's gaze narrowed, her eyes flashing with a fierce intensity. "And?" she probed further, her tone leaving no room for evasion.

Riva's voice trembled as she recounted the events. "I tried to brush him off, but this time he was drunk, and things got somewhat escalated...and I got an anxiety attack, I guess that's why I fainted."

Shubhra's face darkened, her anger simmering just below the surface. "This man has got some nerves," she seethed, her voice low and menacing. "It's better to close his case at once."

Adwait's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he asked me, "Who is this man?" I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal, before responding, "I don't know. I just heard her calling for help, and she was there."

As I spoke, I caught a glimpse of Shubhra exchanging a weighted glance with Riva, who let out a soft sigh. Shubhra's expression turned grim, and she shook her head before revealing, "Her fiancé."

I felt a jolt of surprise, and my mind reeled with the implications. So, that's why Arjun had said it was their personal matter. A sense of unease settled in the pit of my stomach.

Adwait's voice broke the silence, his tone firm and resolute. "I don't think it's good to keep this title of his, especially after today's incident." Riva's eyes dropped, and she bit down on her bottom lip, clearly unwilling to say anything.

The air was thick with tension, and I could sense the unspoken emotions swirling beneath the surface.

Shubhra's voice was firm and authoritative, brooking no argument. "Let's end this matter here. I will take care of this, and Riva, you'll stay in the Randhawa mansion today. It would be better for you."I watched as Riva nodded meekly, still looking a bit shell-shocked.

Shubhra is too much, I thought to myself. She casually says anything, then tells you not to worry, all while shouldering the burdens of those around her. It was a heavy load to carry, and I couldn't help but wonder how she managed it all.

As I gazed at Shubhra, a mix of emotions swirled inside me - pride, admiration, and a deep-seated protectiveness. I remembered the little girl she used to be, full of laughter and curiosity. She had grown into a strong and capable woman, taking charge of matters and handling things with a strength and resilience that inspired me.

But as I looked at her now, I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt and a sense of injustice. She had been shouldering the weight of responsibility for far too long, protecting others without anyone to protect her. It wasn't fair that she had to fight all these battles alone. She needed someone to watch her back, to stand by her side, and to help her carry the weight of her world.

I glanced at my watch, noticing that it was past 2 o'clock in the night. "I should leave," I said.

Shubhra nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I want to sleep too. We haven't slept in the last two days." She smiled wearily, and Adwait chuckled in agreement.

"Yeah, let's go!" Adwait added, and the two of them shared a warm smile.

Shubhra helped Riva up, and Adwait and I followed behind them, making sure they were okay.

I pulled up to the apartment complex on the outskirts of Udaipur, the tires of my car crunching on the gravel driveway. I stepped out of the car and made my way to the door, which swung open to reveal Vihaan and Rudra already seated inside.

I took a seat opposite them, my eyes locking onto theirs. "Why did you call me in such a hurry?" I asked, my tone curious.

Rudra leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with intensity. "We got to know something about the attack on Shubhra di," he said, his voice low and serious.

I raised an eyebrow, catching on to the title Rudra had used. "You've started calling her di now?" I asked, a smirk spreading across my face.

Rudra's eyes narrowed, and he shot me a glare. "Shut up," he muttered, but I could see the faintest hint of a smile playing on his lips.

Vihaan's intervention prevented the conversation from escalating into a full-blown argument. "That's not the correct time to tease each other," he reminded us, his voice firm but calm. "We have another important thing that we need to discuss."

I nodded in agreement, my mind already racing ahead to the topic at hand. "I'm sure Atulya had a hand in the incident," I said, my voice laced with conviction.

But Rudra quickly countered my statement. "No, it was related to Sophia York. She was the one behind the incident."

I raised an eyebrow, surprised by the revelation. "This woman definitely has a thick skin," I said, my tone dripping with sarcasm. "I just can't forget the way she behaved in the hospital room, like she's really afraid for her."

Vihaan shot me a knowing glance before responding. "She was genuinely worried for her, as her attack was focused on Adwait. She knows how useful Shubhra is still for them."

My mind was racing with possibilities as I asked, "Is Jarek also a part of that?"

Rudra's response was cautious, but telling. "We can't say for sure, but an apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

I felt a pang of concern, thinking about how Shubhra would react if Jarek was involved. "It will hurt her if Jarek would be a part of that," I commented.

The conversation turned to whether we should inform Shubhra about our suspicions. I fidgeted with my fingers, feeling a twinge of guilt. "I didn't feel good about lying to her. If she would get to know the truth, I would be the first one whose ass would be in trouble. Forget about her, even Adwait is going to kick me out."

Rudra looked down, avoiding eye contact, and began chewing on his lip. "I...I told her about us," he admitted nervously.

My eyes snapped to Rudra, shocked by his revelation. "Why?" I demanded, while Vihaan looked on, equally astonished.

Vihaan's face turned red with anger as he snapped at Rudra, "Are you crazy? Why the hell did you tell her? What did you tell her and when?"

Rudra's voice was barely above a whisper as he replied, "Almost everything."

I fixed my gaze on Rudra, my eyes narrowing as I asked, "Did she believe you?"

Rudra's expression was uncertain as he replied, "I don't know. It was hard to guess."

I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me as I thought about the potential consequences of Rudra's actions. I took my head in my hands, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. "Just hope she didn't tell Atulya about this," I muttered, "or our whole scheme would fail."

I couldn't shake the feeling that we had just made a critical mistake. Shubhra trusted Atulya, but we knew that Atulya's true loyalties lay elsewhere. If Shubhra had indeed confided in Atulya, it could spell disaster for our plans.
