"Not very long ago!" Josh replied with a smug grin. "Why?" Vritika asked, curiosity piqued.
"He had met someone who was a real beauty!" Josh exclaimed, hands clasped to his chest. "A nymph, according to him, who descended from heaven's stairs just for him."
Josh's dramatic flair drew chuckles from the others, but I sensed unease creeping up my spine.
"She was so beautiful," Josh continued, "that when I offered him my sister's hand, he refused!" He pouted, feigning offense.
I rolled my eyes, exasperated. These guys weren't helping. They seemed to relish stirring up tension between Ayla and me before our wedding.
I glanced at Ayla, who was engrossed in Josh's story, her attention completely diverted from me. She had subtly withdrawn from my touch, leaving my hand hanging empty.
Jarek's inquiry sparked a chain reaction. "What's her name?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
Janav eagerly chimed in, "Yeah! Yeah! Who's she?" His rascality was palable.
My frustration boiled over, and I slammed my fist on the pillow. "No one! Shut up, all of you!" I roared, irritation etched on my face.
Vidharth smirked mischievously. "Why should they shut up?" His tone dripped with amusement.
Josh seized the opportunity, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yeah! Right! You shouldn't keep secrets about your crushes from your future wife."
I gritted my teeth, dismayed by my brother-in-law/friend's betrayal.
Seeking refuge, I discreetly reached for Ayla's wrist, hoping to steal a private moment. But she slipped away. She freed her hand from my grasp without even a glance.
Drake, another cousin of her's, jumped into the fray. "Where did they meet?"
Josh grinned mischievously. "Ooh, don't ask! According to him, she was a nymph who descended from heaven just for a few seconds and vanished."
Vritika's eyes widened. "Huh?!"
Ariv chuckled. "Was he drunk?"
Vidharth deadpanned. "Definitely."
Josh's eyes locked onto Vidharth. "And what about that bookstore girl? The one he used to stalk?"
Vidharth picked up the story. "Yeah, he was smitten! He'd stand outside her shop, and whenever the owner questioned him, he'd buy a book just to linger."
"What the hell are you guys talking about?!" I exclaimed, dumbstruck by their fabricated story. "Which girl? What bookstore?"
Josh chuckled. "Oh, come on, Adwait. My sister can handle it."
He grinned mischievously. "Let me tell you more about his affairs."
I shouted, my face burning with pure rage. "What affairs?"
Vidharth smirked. "Come on, brother, let him tell her what she's signing up for."
Josh continued, "You know, sorellina, he had more than five..."
Janav chimed in, "Not just five, but a new girlfriend every semester!"
The room erupted into laughter, with everyone ganging up on me.
"Shut up, both of you!" I groaned in frustration.
They are trying to start a fight between us, and that too when we have just resolved our last issue, which is not yet fully resolved.
Dante raised an eyebrow. "Did they do something too?"
Josh and Vidharth exchanged a mischievous glance. "Yes, yes... They didn't just kiss, but—"
Chachu intervened, saving me from further embarrassment. "You guys are still here? It's early in the morning. All the rituals will start in the morning itself. You all should get some rest."
His firm tone dispersed the crowd, and Josh and Vidharth exchanged a sly smile.
"Yeah, right! Let's go!" they chorused, dragging Ayla away with them and leaving me standing there.
"What were you saying? Dated five, no... a different girl every semester!" I exclaimed, throwing a punch at Vidharth's stomach.
Vidharth grumbled, clutching his abdomen. "Of course, You did!" He snapped with a smirk, "You—"
Before I could break his nose, he darted away.
Feeling restless, I knew I had to talk to Ayla before she misunderstood me. I left my chamber to find her, but a thought struck me: they might all be there too.
Undeterred, I decided to proceed with my original plan. I called her to set it in motion.
"Hello!" Her sleepy voice drifted through the line, husky from being woken up.
"Ayla!" I said, trying to contain my excitement.
"Hmm?" She responded, her tone laced with drowsiness, likely rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"What are you doing?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Just burying myself in blankets," she replied, her voice growing stronger. "You tell me, why did you call?" The gentle undertones returned, tinged with curiosity.
"Umm... Can you come to the hotel parking?" I requested, trying to sound casual.
"Why?" She queried, her interest piqued.
"Don't ask, just come. Wear something light and casual," I urged.
"Okay, but are we going somewhere?" Her curiosity turned into a hint of excitement.
"Just come!" I repeated, my enthusiasm harder to conceal.
"Okay!" She agreed, before abruptly ending the call.
I dressed in a crisp white loose tee, black denim jacket, and black jeans, complemented by rugged brown boots. Before leaving, I grabbed a blue denim jacket from Ayla's wardrobe, thinking she might need it.
As I reached the parking lot, the elevator doors slid open, and Ayla emerged. Her denim jeans and flowing white silk shirt caught the dim light, accentuating her elegance. Her gaze swept the vast parking lot, locking onto mine with an unmistakable spark.
Transfixed by her piercing eyes, I didn't notice her approach. Suddenly, she stood before me.
I handed her the blue denim jacket. "For you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Ayla's eyes narrowed, questioning, as she accepted the jacket. Her fingers brushed mine, sending a jolt of electricity through me.
"You'll catch a cold; wear it!" I replied, smiling.
Ayla slipped on the jacket, her eyes sparkling. "Are we going somewhere?"
"Yup!" I grinned.
"Where?" she pressed, curiosity etched on her face.
"A long drive!" I replied, and her eyes lit up.
"Really?" Her excitement grew.
"Yup!" I confirmed.
"Let's go! Before someone finds us!" I urged, grabbing her hand.
We hurried out of the parking lot, where the driver stood waiting with the bike keys. He handed me the helmet, bowed politely, and discreetly disappeared.
"Let's go!" I exclaimed.
"Yup!" Ayla echoed.
We settled onto the bike, donning our helmets. Ayla wrapped her arms tightly around me, her warmth radiating against my back.
I roared the engine to life, and we sped off into the night.
The strong breeze buffeted us as we sliced through the city, its dazzling lights blurring together. "I love these rides!" Ayla exclaimed, her voice carried away by the wind.
She spread her arms wide, like an eagle soaring, and filled her lungs with the crisp air. "I just love it!" she shouted, her joy infectious.
I chuckled at her unbridled enthusiasm. "Then we should do this more often!" I remarked, smiling.
"Why are we going so slow?" Ayla asked, her tone playful.
"You want fast?" I teased.
"Yup!" she replied, her eyes sparkling.
"Okay!" I grinned, twisting the accelerator. The bike surged forward, its engine roaring as we devoured the miles.
Ayla's laughter echoed through the night, her arms tightening around me.
Ayla snuggled closer, wrapping her arms around my torso and burying her face in the crook of my neck. Her warm breath sent shivers down my spine.
"Are you enjoying it?" I whispered.
"Yup! Very much!" she mumbled, her voice muffled. "You know it was my dream... to go on a long drive with my boyfriend."
I smiled, feeling a surge of happiness. "You've got your hubby here!"
"Adwait!" she whispered, her voice filled with affection.
I just hummed.
"I'm hungry!" she exclaimed and a chuckle left my mouth this girl is a big foodie and always hungry.
