Here's A new update!!
I was awakened by the warm sun rays streaming through my window and onto my face. I groggily covered my eyes with my hand, remembering too late that I had forgotten to close the curtains the night before. As my bedroom faces east, it's not uncommon for the sunrise to rouse me from slumber - a phenomenon I've grown to love.
I got out of bed and began my morning routine, starting with a quick shower and dressing in cream-colored casual pants and a mint-green satin shirt. I added a wristwatch and sneakers to complete my outfit, then spent a few extra minutes carefully braiding my long hair, which falls all the way down to my waist.
After getting ready, I headed straight to the kitchen and had a breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast with a cup of coffee. Although coffee isn't my favorite, I tolerate it.
My true love is chai, which evokes a sense of connection to my Indian roots. It's been years since I left India, and I've only been back twice, once with my uncle seven years ago, and then again secretly for a business deal. It was during that first trip that I discovered the delight of chai, and I was hooked. Since returning from India, I've requested that my chef prepare chai for me instead of coffee every morning, and it's become a beloved ritual.
I quickly finished my breakfast, keeping an eye on the time, and headed to the office. The drive was quiet and brief. Upon arriving, I parked in my usual spot and made my way to my cabin, exchanging greetings with colleagues along the way. As soon as I entered, my secretary Marko informed me about the evening's meeting, briefing me on the essential details before leaving my office. The day passed routinely, and soon it was time for the meeting.
I arrived at the designated location, a cafeteria, which the other party had chosen to avoid drawing attention.
As I was about to enter, I spotted Jarek, waiting for me. He caught my eye and waved, and I returned the gesture.
"Is everything set?" I asked, scanning the area with my eyes. As I did, I spotted a few of our men strategically positioned around the cafeteria.
"Yeah," he replied, handing me a Bluetooth earpiece.
"We don't want to spook him, just a precaution for our safety. No one will take any action unless things go sideways. Am I clear?" I asked, double-checking with everyone.
"Yes, ma'am!" I heard whispered through my earpiece.
We both nodded and entered the cafeteria, which was relatively empty. I scanned the room and spotted the man sitting in the farthest corner. We made our way over to him and sat down opposite him at the table.
He looked at us as we greeted him...
"Good evening, Professor Liam!! "
"Seems like you have did your homework."
"Ofcourse we have to do it so we can be assured too about the deals we make."
"Yeaah! That's the reason I decided to trust you with this."
"We are glad to hear that professor."
"No,no, it's my pleasure."
" Professor! If you don't feel offended than can I ask you something?"
"Yeah! Sure! But not too personal" and he laughed.
"Don't worry it won't be personal. " I said while maintaining my smile.
"Professor! Why did you decide to sell the mechanism now?"
His expression changed to a dark shade as he said
"There are many people who wants to stole this mechanism and I am afraid that this would fall in wrong hands." He answered while wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"If that's the reason don't you think that you should not hand it to us , like we can also misuse it." Jarek remarked.
"Well I liked your terms and conditions of the usage that's why I am trusting you with this . "
"And I hope that you would not disappoint me" he added
"It's for sure. York group is famous for keeping it's words and Phoenix's CEO also helds a reputation for keeping it's words. "
"Hmm, that's one of the reasons I chose you guys. So, please keep your word." He decided with a stoic face.
"Don't worry, we'll honor our agreement, and we have a contract in place, so you can hold us accountable if we don't follow through." I assured him.
"For sure." He too chuckled.
"Then, let's sign the papers now." Jarek suggested
"Hmm.. sure" He nodded.
One by one, Jarek and the professor signed the papers, then passed them to me.
I set the pen down on the table and raised my eyes to meet theirs, sensing their unspoken question about my hesitation.
"Professor, I also want to confirm that what you're giving us is genuine, not fake," I kept my point.
He looked at me, a smile spreading across his face as he replied, "Of course, of course, you can verify it."
"Please!"
He placed his large bag on the table and pulled out a small jewelry box, handing it to me. I opened the box to find a beautiful red heart-shaped diamond pendant inside.
I raised an eyebrow at the professor, and he said, "The chip is embedded in the diamond. Try to open it."
I examined the pendant more closely and noticed a gold outline on its sides.
I tried to open it, and it split into two separate parts. Jarek handed me the laptop and I inserted the chip into it. We watched the content on the laptop, and after verifying its authenticity, we closed it, returning it to its original state.
I placed the jewelry box in my bag, then signed the contract - there were three copies, and each of us took one.
I transferred the money to his bank account as agreed, and we all went our separate ways.
I accompanied Jarek to the York Corporation, where we carefully placed the jewelry box in a locker.
We arrived at the corporation's premises, and Jarek parked his car in his designated spot.
I parked mine nearby, and we both headed straight to the locker room on the special floor designated for confidential information.
We opened the locker and placed the box inside, finally exhaling a sigh of relief.
"That was much easier than we thought," Jarek said.
"Yeah, I don't know why, but I don't think that's a good sign," I replied.
"Yeah, you're right. I'll tell my team to tighten security here," I spoke.
"Yeah, do that ASAP," Jarek urged.
"Hmm," I acknowledged.
"Let's go, I'll drop you off," Jarek offered.
"No thanks, I still have work to do in the office," I replied.
"Fine, take care then," Jarek said.
"You too," I responded.
Jarek dropped me off at the parking lot, and I headed to my office.
As soon as I arrived, I found a stack of files awaiting my signature on my desk.
I got straight to work, tackling the pending tasks. I finally left the office around 8 p.m. and headed home. I was sitting in the living room, watching TV for relaxation, when my phone rang.
I checked the caller ID and saw that it was Jarek. I answered the call, and in a hushed tone, barely above a whisper, he said...
"Someone stoled it...."
