KIARA CARRERA WALKED ONTO
a familiar boat, not even noticing the sounds that echoed under her. The boys had called a Pogue emergency when the 'alternator of the boat was working.'
"It's not charged." John B said, "Did you check the plugs? No. No. You should check 'em." JJ said. "Give it a whirl."
JJ immediately ran out at that, "Is she coming?" Pope nodded aggressively, seeing her walk down from the boat patio. "Yo! I don't see no weed up here, J. Are you hallucinating?" Kiara's head immediately shot up at voice.
"Wait, where are you guys going?"
"John B! John B! Let me out!" That voice. The banging was loud as she screamed, "Is that Sarah?" June asked, watching the curly haired girl began to open it.
The two girls stared at Sarah from above, "What the hell? JJ, I'm gonna skin you!" June yelled to the boat was currently driving away. "Are you serious?"
"Are you joking?" Kiara and Sarah screamed. "Get your asses back here." Kiara shouted, stern in her voice. "We can't. Not until you figure it out." John B shrugged, "I will kill every single one of you!"
"You can't just leave!" Sarah added. June grabbed the nearest thing, which was a volleyball, and threw it towards the three boys, nearly taking JJ's head off, "That's not gonna get you anywhere, Ju! Sorry!" They laughed.
"That's another thing! Meditate or something!" Pope teased, "Oh, fuck off." She waved them off, taking a seat in a chair as she crossed her arms like a child.
June face palmed as she watched Sarah jump in the water, soon after followed by loud whines, "I got stung by a jellyfish! Shit!" June shrugged, "I pray for you everyday you know that?" June teased, earning a faint grin from Kiara who tried to hide it.
"Well, you swam right into a man-o-war. I don't know what you thought was gonna happen."
"Thanks for your help over there, June!" Sarah grunted, falling to the ground. "Oh, of course!" June smiled, before letting it drop.
"Does it hurt?" Kiara laughed, "Hey, Kiara? You know what they say about curing jellyfish stings." June shook her head, "Yeah, I'm gonna go to the roof and smoke. Not staying for this one."
June chuckled to herself as Sarah shrugged to get to the top, watching as June smoked the blunt she held in her mouth. June passed it to Kiara, crossing her arms in boredom.
This was the last place she wanted to be.
Two girls she hated most right now. Both for different reasons but you could relate to both really. Sarah got with John B after they confessed their feelings, Kiara got with Camilla while they were together.
Same thing if you think about.
The most annoying thing about it, she had to share a blunt with the two girls. Her favorite thing to do was being ruined by their presence and by the time night game around, Sarah was high off her ass.
"Wow! Hey, guess what? Would you rather have eyes for nipples or nipples for eyes?" June put a hand on her face as she took a big gulp of the vodka that was hidden away in the storage, making her mentally cry as she continued to talk.
"Is this like your first time smoking or something?" Kiara deadpanned, "No."
"Hey, Kiara," Sarah began, "Enough of the "Key, Kiara!" Bullshit." Kiara said, mocking her tone as June laid back against the boat. "Why'd you do it?"
"Why did I do what?"
"We were best friends. All of us." June looked at her fingers as she remembered the times they shared, "We stole beers from your dads fridge, we watched movies together. You guys were my first kiss! And the next thing I know I'm watching your birthday party happen from Instagram. Both of yours."
"We know what you did, Kie." June finally spoke up, earning a confused look. "What did I do? All I ever did was care for you. You both!"
"You got with Camilla on my birthday. I watched you tell her. You told her that she was just a side bitch basically and I was who you wanted but, that justified nothing." Kiara's heart dropped. "That's why you hate me?"
"Yes. I hate you for being you. I hate you for being so fucking pretty and smart. But, I hate you for hurting me. Because you were the first girl I ever truly wanted." June shrugged. "And you," Sarah looked up at her words, "You kissed John B. You told me you liked me then you kissed him. He's basically my brother, Sarah. Really?" She raised her eyebrows.
"I don't know why she didn't invite you. I was there. But, I want you to know that I can't forgive you, even after everything. I Can forget it, but I don't know if I can." Kiara shook her head, "Can what?"
"Love you." June hiccuped, "Care about you, yes. I care about you even on days where all I wanna do is kill you. But, I can still care and hate you."
"June, I meant everything I told you." Sarah spoke up, "I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And Kiara, I didn't invite you because you hurt my best friend. But, most of all you liked me." Sarah sighed, "Both of you liked me."
"What?" Kiara said.
"When people get close to me, I feel trapped. And, I bail. And then I blame them for it. I'm really sorry." Sarah didn't know who she was talking to as her eyes flickered back and fourth between the girls.
"And I miss you. I miss us. Together." Sarah played with her fingers as her best friends eyes filled up with tears, "Do you think that there's a chance we can all be okay again?"
"Honestly, I don't know." Kiara said. "June?"
"I love you, Sar. You know that. But, you really fucked up this time." June was soft spoken as she stood up, not forgetting her bottle of vodka as she walked to the rooftop.
Giggles echoed her ears throughout the night as she closed her eyes, simply wanting to go home as she was tired and drunk. The night was cold and it the breeze was light, as her hair blew in the wind.
The sky was so pretty. It was shiny as the stars glistened in her eyes, it was so pretty she almost didn't see the one she told herself was the prettiest of them all.
"Hey." Sarah grinned, "Hi." June spoke softly, looking at the chair next to her as Sarah nodded.
Moments passed in comfortable silence as her foot bounced up and down. "I don't hate you, y'know?" June finally said something, her head moving to look at her. "I know. I don't hate you either."
"I just wish that it didn't happen. Only so I wouldn't feel so betrayed. You really hurt me. And my feelings. I don't think I will ever forget what happened and why it happened." June told her, jumping at the feeling of her hand grazing hers, "Then we can forget. Your my best friend. I will always love you. Even if your across the earth or in the cut while I'm in Kooklandia." June giggled,
"Your my best friend. I don't wanna lose you. I can't lose you." Sarah sighed, "Me neither."
"C'mere." Sarah's body immediately wrapped around the girl, squeezing her tightly. "I hate you." June teased. "I hate you to, then." Sarah giggled, squeezing her once more.
June was smiled to herself, squeezing her bestfriend back as she took in the moment with her. She loved her. Not in the way Sarah was presuming.
A little part of her would always be in love with the Kook princess.
"Somebody get me a gun," June mumbled, the two girls giggling as she leaned into Sarah. "Tell me about it."
"Uh-oh! Did you forget your keys or something?" A echoed voice yelled, June turned her head to see her three boys. "Don't give them the satisfaction of thinking this worked." Kiara said, "Oh definitely not."
"You gotta admit its kinda funny." John B added. "No, fuck you actually." June flicked them all off. "Somebody's grumpy." JJ teased, putting a hand out for her to get out the boat, "I wasn't till I saw you three."
"So, did you three— you know?"
"Reconcile our differences?" Kiara copied, "No. Hell no." June shrugged, leaning on the edge. "But, we're willing to work together."
"You know what? That's victory." John B high fived the Pogue boy, doing their stupid finger waves.
June sat up, grabbing Sarah's hand as she helped her on first. When she saw Kiara waiting for Sarah, she saw how her skin glistening. Her pretty eyes sparkling slightly as she stared at her.
She almost walked away, but she was too pretty just to be ignored. "Here." June reached a hang out, making Kiara lightly grin. "Thank you." She jumped at her touch— her soft skin caressing her arm lightly, a smile on her face.
"All right. Shut up. You guys ready to Jack some loot?" John B smirked.
"Yeah, whatever."
June sat on the floor, her blue raspberry vape in her hand as she showed Sarah how to do a ghost. "That shit burns!" Sarah coughed, "Why would inhale it?" June tapped her back, giggling falling out along with her words.
They all smiled in excitement as John B opened the car door, the scary Crain house behind them.
"We're ready!"
"Let's roll out." June smiled, looking behind her to take a quick glance at Kiara. But, as she did, she was already staring at her, a grin on her face whilst her head was lightly dipped to the side.
"Let's go get rich, guys." JJ muttered. "Hell yeah!"
"Wait, wait, wait." John B stopped, leaving the five pogues in confusion. "What's wrong? You having a mini heart attack or something?" June teased.
"I wanna say thank you guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight." John B smiled, looking at all his friends with a loving gaze. "Always."
"All right, we done with the circle jerk? Can we do this?" JJ interrupted. "Yeah."
"Let's get that wheat in the water." Pope said, making June and JJ swing their heads around. "Weed? I'm up for weed." June nodded at his words, "Wheat. I said wheat. June you don't need shit more."
"What! Pope weed is a life style. This is forever." She crossed her fingers, and in the other hand she pretended to smoke an imaginary blunt, JJ mocking her.
June felt a tug on her arm pulling her back as Sarah Cameron squeezed her hand tightly. "I'm fucking terrified." She giggled. June couldn't help but let her eyes travel to their hands. "Me to."
Kiara rolled her eyes at the sight, walking ahead of them.
They all followed into the trail of the house, but a bright light flickering on so quickly made them all jump, "Oh shit!"
"Flashlights! Flashlights!" Kiara said. "Flashlights off!"
"Okay. She has motion sensor lights." Pope stated the obvious. "We could uh— move really slowly?" June face palmed, "That's not how it works, kid."
"Oh, shit! Let's throw a rock at it." June groaned out loud, "Yeah, let's make some noise! Might as well throw a rock at a window to." June looked at John B who looked like he was completely up for it, "Oh my god."
"No, June, that's a really good idea. Let the axe murder know we're here!" Kiara added on.
"You guys have a better idea?" John B asked. "Literally anything but that." Kiara shrugged, "What about the breaker? In the circuit box on the porch. We used to play hide and seek here as kids. And if we're brave enough we'd go all the way up to the porch." Sarah explained.
"No. Your not going in the house alone." June shook her head, "Don't be an idiot, JB. She won't be." Kiara and June nodded, "Yeah."
"We'll wait for your signal." Pope spoke. "Okay. Let's roll." June smiled, anxiety coursing through her veins. "Hey! Be safe." June mentally threw up at their obvious words.
June walked in the back, stopping to look behind them to make sure the three were safe. Her heart was racing in fear as she looked around her.
Kiara could feel the emptiness behind her as she was walking close to Sarah, and when she heard heavy breathing and a sight of a pair of eyes wondering, she felt a switch inside of her.
The curly haired girl lightly tapped her arm with her palm, getting her attention as she reached her hand out. June's heart skipped a beat.
Kiara's body softened as she felt her hand slide into hers, even going closer than before as she felt her arm graze her lightly as they walked.
"Where are the breakers?" Sarah questioned, "What is this?" Kiara added. "No, no, no." Sarah looked around. June noticed the many cords that led to the house and she cursed to herself, "It's leading inside, guys."
The sound of the door creaking as it open made her only squeeze her hand tighter, footsteps following as their feet hit the hardwood floor.
Their eyes wondered around the house as June stayed close to the girl, holding her hand tightly as Sarah followed close behind. They all jumped at the sound of a cat. "Oh shit!" she quietly cursed.
Smiles were placed on the three girls faces as they found the box, "Okay." Sarah mumbled as Kiara opened the safe. The sound of a switch clicking and a power off was heard made June smile, ready to get the hell out of this creepy home.
As the girls walked towards the door, the sound of tapping on the ground made them all jump, hiding near a wall. "What the fuck? What the fuck?" Kiara slapped a hand on June's mouth, put a finger to hers. "It's fine."
"It's late, Leon," the lady mumbled, "I can hear you, Leon! I've been waiting all night!" Loud screams echoed the home as Kiara latched back onto her hand, "Go!"
They panted as they ran through the house, June and Kiara tried to open the front door, panic lacing their bodies. The sound of Ms. Crain's grumbled echoed, watching her lift her Cain to hit Kiara.
"Shit!" June acted on reflex, pulling her back into her by her waist, now pulling her and Sarah away from the scene. "Go! Go!"
"Come on! Come on! This way!" Sarah leaded, the three shutting the door in a hurry as they heavily breathed. "Oh my God. Oh my God."
They all screamed at the soun of slashing along the door, "This way! It goes underneath the house!"
June heavily panted as she made her way down, a hand on her heart. "Holy fuck! I smoke to much for this shit!"
"We have to go!" Sarah yelled, "JJ! Hold on man, I'm coming!" John B said. "One, two, three, pull!"
The all grunted when they hit the floor, panting as they made their way to the surface, "Hey, John B!"
Silence.
"What's he saying?" June asked, muffled screaming being heard. "JJ, Pope, Kie!" She immediately stood up, "He's drowning let's go!"
They all began pulling, before June jumped at the loud gunshot that ran close behind her. She dropped quickly, eyes wide as she panted. "What the fuck!"
"Help me! Hang on, man!"
The three hid under a table, panting as Ms. Crain shot everywhere she heard a noise. "She can't sim for shit." Kiara said, "She can't see."
"She's blind." They all jumped up the sound of another close bullet, rushing to hide somewhere else. "Oh my god! Crazy ass bitch!"
"Let's go!" They all ran, knowing John B will catch up as they rushed to the car. Fear filled their hearts, quickly jumping in the car. "Oh my god! Come on John B!"
"Why are we always being shot at?"
The smell that radiated off him made June Wanna puke, "I'm glad your not dead, but you smell like shit!" Laughter filled the van as they all nodded, "That bitch cannot aim!"
"That bitch is blind!" June laughed, before noticing something in John B's hand.
"No you didn't."
They all swung their heads towards him. "We did it, Baby! I did it!" John B cheered.
"Full Kook!"
