chapter six - "God I hate vampires."
⋆·☆·⋆
Clementine's eyes slowly opened adjusting to the small amount of sun seeping through before realizing wasn't in her own bed. She was in Damon's bed, one she knew far to well. A small pounding in her head started to grow as she shut her eyes back closed hoping for it to be a dream. If it wasn't for her phone ringing she might have actually believed it.
"Caroline, it is to early to deal with you and a migraine. And I mean that in the nicest way possible." She asked sitting up in the bed holding the silk sheet against her bare skin.
"Ouch, I am great that I'm not Caroline."
"Uncle Ash?" She asked glancing over at the sleeping vampire besides her before back to the bed. "I thought, Dad said you left?"
He was quiet for a moment for sighing reaching his hand to the back of his head, "Yeah..yeah, I uh, had something to take care of. It's actually something for you plum pudding." He glanced around the corner to see Michael and Prue talking to each other and seeing Mack hadn't came out of Clem's room yet. Walking into his brother's office and shutting the door, "And Blueberry Muffin seems to be guarding your room. So either you're not with Caroline or you're just refusing to leave."
Her eyes widen as a awake and east dropping Damon sat up with widen eyes. "No, yeah, uh-huh," She started to stutter while Damon ran around the room collecting all the scatter clothes in a second. "No, I just have a massive headache, migraine to max and I told Mickey to not let anyone in."
She handed the phone to Damon while hooking her bra back on and throwing her hoodie over it. She stood up as he held the phone up to her ear while she pulled her underwear and pants on. "Right, well if I were you I would have Caroline get me home, oh I don't know, 30 minutes ago."
She nodded her head, "Yes sir, just please don't tell momma or dad please." She pleaded taking the phone from him.
"I can't make any promises but I'll try," He said before hanging up.
She quickly looked at the half naked vampire, "Home now, I'll come back for my car, but I need home asap." She told him as he smirked, "With a shirt on. I can't have my neighbors thinking I slept with a vampire."
He gave her a small pout, "You're no fun,"
And just like that he had a shirt on and the two were on the small roof right outside her bedroom window. She pushed him to the side after seeing the back of her sister. "Thanks I'll take it from here. And this doesn't change anything,"
"Whatever you say Buffy,"
She smiled lightly before kissing his cheek and going inside the room, "There you are I was about to call you. Mom and Dad are calling for you-" She said in a hush tone as the two met in the middle of the room. "Yeah I know, Uncle Ash called caught me up to speed." The second oldest cut off walking to the door. "Just play it cool and maybe we don't get grounded for life."
The two slowly walked out of the room and down the stairs. Making their way tot he kitchen to see both their parents and Uncle coward around the island. All looking at the two walking in, "There you are."
"How's your head Angle? Mack said you had a migraine," Pure said as Clem nodded her head. "A bit better, I just needed a nap. What's up?"
And like that each of their faces fell, "Mack, honey, can you wait up in your room we need to talk to Clementine alone?" Prue asked giving an small smile. She gave a confused look before opening her mouth to say something before Prue gave her the famous mom look. Leaving the ones the knew the Lightwood secretes left. "I take it must be something to do with vampires or my being a diaper wearing baby that fly's around shooting people," She said half jokingly while crossing her arms.
"I wouldn't put it that way," A new voice said, her voice was softer, lighter and more feminine.
The short girl's head snapped towards a thin girl sitting behind the small wall the Lightwood brother's made in front of the island. "And who are you?" Clem asked in the nicest way she could without her mouth ripping her head off.
The women smiled, "Camil, Camil Noble. And I've heard a lot about you Clementine, all good things." The Lightwood slowly looked between her father and uncle, clearly confused and not fully understanding what was going on.
"Ness, that thing we talked about," Ashton reminded the mystery woman.
"Right, I'm getting there." She says standing up and walking towards her. "I'm part cupid to,"
An ear piercing bing rang through the space-ish kitchen, cutting through the defining silence. As all eyes were now on Clem as it was her phone that had made the noise. She reached into her pocket and saw it was from Elena.
El <3
any chance my bestest of bestfriend wants to help me get through Jenna's BBQ?
A wave of relfe washed over her, happy to have an out to this awkward conversation, but a part of her wanted to know what this mystery Camil Noble was. But why and how she knew everything. She looked up at the group of adults, "That's Elena. She wants my help with Jenna's BBQ. Can I go, or are you going to have me babysitted all night?"
Camil shook her head, "I'm not a babysitter Clem--"
"Clementine," She quickly corrected her.
"Clementine... I'm only here to help. Here to answer questions you may have."
She slowly nodded, turning and walking upstairs while replying to Elena. Telling her she would be there as soon as she could.

Mason Lockwood came into the kitchen smiling ear-to-ear holding up a bottle and some shot glass. "That would be my exit," Elena remarked as the door bell ringed hopping it to be either Clem or Care only to be half right. There stood Clementine with her Uncle Ash and a woman she didn't know. "Hey, Clem... Uncle Ash," She greeted stepping to the side letting them in. "Jenna is in the kitchen with Mason and I think Alaric."
"Thank you Elena," He said walking his way through the house as the woman followed behind.
"Who is that?" Elena asked seeing Clem clearly upset about something.
"My non-official babysitter."
But before Elena could ask anymore questions there was a knock on the door. Figuring it had to be Caroline finally but her smile soon fell seeing who it actually was. "And here I thought you forgot where I lived." She remarked as Damon made his way in turning from Elena and turning towards Clementine. He held a pie in one hand and a flower in the other, handing it to Clem and winking before walking off.
"So you forgiven him?"
"He's on a short leash but for now we are speaking." Elena looked at her phone as Clem knew the look, "Go call him. I'll make sure Jenna doesn't murder him yet."

Clem was on the stairs leaning against the railing while slowly string a cup of coffee. "Headache?" She looked up to see Caroline and she nodded slowly. "Yup, stressing is my favorite past time."
"Is it because of Camil?" She asked walking fully into the room.
"How do you know.." She trailed off with a confused expression.
"Vampire, have amazing hearing now," She reminded grabbing a bowl of chips. "And the never ending hunger. Stefan says it's a great way to sublimate the cravings. It's horrible,"
"Fighting the urge isn't all that fun is it?" She said taking a sip siting on the stairs.
"No, and it doesn't help that you and Elena are a constant temptation or was it just Elena he was talking about?" She asked out loud as Clem's brows frowned, "He said that?" The blonde nodded her head. "The desire to rip out her jugular every time she's with him, trust me it's there. It's why I had to break up with Matt."
"How are handling that, I mean the emotions are heighten."
She shrugged lightly, "Dealing with it. It something that had to be done." She said simply well sighing lightly. "Wlep, I'm gunna go check on Elena. Call me if you need me." She stood up carrying the bowl as she walked out. Clem watched her leave seeing Camil was watching her, shaking her head looking down at the cup and finishing it off. "Did I piss you off that much?" Damon's voice suddenly said.
She brought the cup down from her lips shaking her head, whipping a small bit from the corner of her mouth. "Family stuff."
"Ah," He said sitting down next to her, "I figured as much with the sudden wake up." He said cautiously testing the waters to see where she stood on the matter.
She slowly nodded pressing her lips together and looking at him. She didn't understand how all the feelings she had were still there, they never left just hiden under her anger for what happened. She was still mad, but just not as much. Seeing how much it had effected him and how actually sorry he was. "Let's just take things slow,"
And before either one could say anything more Alaric had announced that the food was ready. He got up and offered his hand for the shorter girl, which she took. Letting walk a head, hanging on to the railing, "Oh, and the orange jesamine flower was a nice touch." She said slyly before walking ahead not wanting her uncle to see them.
"Everything okay Plum Puddin'?" Ashton asked seeing his niece smiling as she walked into the kitchen next to him.
"Yup," She replied popping the 'p' slightly. "Now are you gunna stand there and ask me questions or are we going to eat?" She remarked grabbing the plate he held out for her.

"Dress! Ballerina! Ballet!"
"Puppy! Puppy! Puppy with a tutu!" Caroline guessed at the picture of a wolf in a tutu that Damon had drawn.
"No."
"Dog. Hound dog> You ain't nothing but a hound dog?!"
"Dances with Wolves." Mason answered as all eyes were on him, Aston and Clem especially knowing the Lockwood bloodline. "Mason wins... again."
"How is that a wolf?!" Jenna asked looking between the two as Mason stood up and walked to the board.
They all started to guess something as Clem wasn't paying attention, texting Mel for the thirty time and not getting an answer. She sighed heavily placing her phone back in her bag before looking up. Her breathe caught in her throat as she saw a horribly drawn baby with a bow and wings. She looked over at Camil who had no expression only meeting the young Lightwood and nodding slowly. Somehow telling her that it was going to be okay. So with a hard swallow she answered, "Cupid,"
"Should have known the Valentine's baby would get it right." He said and she quickly got weird sick feeling. "I need some coffee." She told her uncle who nodded and told her to call if she need anything. Seeing the light in the hall flicker for a split-seconded.
She reached the counter and rested her palms on it, trying to ease the sick feeling and her constant headache. Pouring the coffee into her cup, pouring in all the sweetening stuffs, hearing someone enter the kitchen and stand on the other side of the island. Turning around and seeing non other than Mason Lockwood. "Can I help you with something?"
"Just checking in. Heard you ended up in the hospital for a couple of days." He crossed his arms and leaned them on the counter top.
She held the mug to her chest waiting for it to cool as she stayed far away from him. "Yeah, got out right before your brothers wake." She stated knowing she hit mark in him. "And don't worry, we didn't tell anyone the he was...well you know,"
"A Mayor?"
She gave a sarcastic smile, "Yes, and very hairy mayor..."
Camil had watched the wolf leave the room and go to the kitchen, not being able to see it from where she sat but kept her eye on lights around them. They started to flicker faster and faster before one of the bulbs blew out. "That's weird," Jenna stated standing up and checking the bulb.
Aston looked at her knowing what was happening. He had seen the same thing happen with her before. "Everything's okay, I'll be right back." She said calmly as she stood up and calmly walked to the kitchen. Walking in and seeing the only light was the setting sun through the windows, as the two stood on different sides. "Everything okay Clementine?"
They both looked at the cupid, one confused and the other thankful to have her there. "Yeah, yeah, um just happy to know that you have my meds." Clem lied just happy the sick feeling was gone when she entered.
"Oh you should've told me I would have followed you in here." She continued on walking next to her and starting the dig her bag before glancing over and seeing Mason still there. "Is there anything you need? Are we blocking you from getting something?" She asked bluntly.
"No, just making sure Clementine was okay."
"Right..." She trailed off not believing him stepping closer the the counter, "Great to know you have a conscious but she doesn't need your help dog."
His eyes squinted for a moment, looking between the two before backing out of the room. Once far enough she turned to the Lightwood and grabbed the mug from her hand placing it on the counter and holding onto her shoulders. "Clementine I need you to calm down and take a few breathes."
She slowly nodded all while doing what she said. "How did you know I needed that?"
"I take it you haven't connected the dots..." She trailed off with a slight smile, remembering how she was when she was her age.
"Huh?"
She stepped back crossing her arms and leaning on the counter to face her. "Your powers are tied to your emotions. Your emotions get out of control than your power get's out of control. Which can effect a list of things, main ones being lights. Be glad you didn't learn the hard way."
"Hard way?"
"Power outgassed were a weekly thing, but from the sounds of it you might have a better control over yours."
Clem nodded along trying to take in and understand the new information when she remembered two certain vampire's in the house. "Please, please, please don't tell Uncle Ash but there are vampire here and now they know something is wrong, and then they'll know I'm a cupid. And then I'll have to answer questions that even I don't completely understand." She started to panic.
"And that is why I carry this on me at all times," Camil held up a charm bracelet. It had three heart shaped lockets and different heart or love typed charms in between them. "One has vervain, another wolfsbane, and a special herb mix a witch made to stop any supernatural beings from listening in on me or the people around me." She said as almost it was common knowledge. "Now why don't we head back to the living room and you and I can play guess that monster?"
🍊
"And I'm telling you he's gunna find a way around your little trick." Clem protested as her and Damon stood in the kitchen. He had told her his newest plan to test to see if Mason Lockwood was actually a werewolf, getting him to hold Grandma Gilbert's silver pie cutter.
"No he's not, besides what's the worst that can happen?" He shrugged off turning around carrying the plate but she quickly turned him back to her, "Just so know I don't have silver so if he tries to kill you I can't help."
"Knowing you, you'll stab him with a used pie cutter Buffy." He remarked bopping her button nose before walking off the table.
"Mason, Why don't you start us off." He declared setting the plate in front of him and stepping back.
"This is gunna end in two ways," Clem sighed out standing next to Ric, "And I think Damon wants him to wolf out in front of everyone." He whispered back saying one of her many thoughts aloud.
Mason looked at the plate seeing the big shiny handle poking out. "Sure," She said with a wide smile as he turned the plate around and took his hand and grabbed a part of the pie. Looking between the group seeing they were looking at him. "What? I apologize. I'm an animal."
"Understatement," Bot Ash and Clem muttered looking at each when doing so.
"So, Mason, you and Jenna never dated?" Ric asked making Clem tap hi chair lightly, "That's my cue to exit the room." She declared grabbing her mug of a cold half empty cup of coffee and into the living room.
"Well, I might be a witch who can see the future cause Mason didn't take the bait. But then again anyone could have guessed that." She remarked walking into the living room and sitting on the couch that Caroline was on.
Elena scoffed before turning around to the blonde and brunette. "Would I be the worst friend in the world if I abandoned you and went to Stefan's?"
"You want to leave?"
"It's just that he hasn't gotten back to me. And I'm starting to get this bed feeling."
"I don't think that's a good idea, Elena." Caroline protested as Clem nodded in argument, "Maybe your bad feeling is low blood sugar. I have some suckers in my bag if want one." She offered knowing Millie would be pissed if she knew she was giving away her suckers.
"Damon's got it under control here." Elena said ignoring Clem's offer.
"Take it from me, there's nothing worse than a clingy girlfriend." At those words Clem almost spit her coffee out confused more than anything. "I'm not being clingy. I'm just concerned. You understand, right?"
"How about I drive you?" Caroline offered and that's when Clem knew she was hiding something from Elena.
"Yeah. Ok. That'd be great. Thanks." Elena said in slight confusion before walking out.
Clem quickly got up and checked to make sure she was actually gone. "Spill and spill fast."
"I-I don't know what you're talking about."
"Na-huh, don't you dare I can tell something is wrong, so spill now." She instated as Caroline hesitated before caving. "Stefan has Katherine locked up and doesn't want Elena near them."
"Why does no one every think to to tell the vampire slayer when they have their ex-vampire-girlfriend anything!" She whispered yelled with widen eyes.
The blonde grabbed her shoulders, "Please don't tell her or Damon. Stefan said he has under control."
"And when Elena walks in on herself and her boyfriend doing whatever?"
"I'll make sure that doesn't happen," She said ominously before walking off.
She slowly closed her fist and took a deep breathe trying not to freak out. Resisting the urge to tell Elena why seeing Stefan wasn't the greatest idea. "God I hate vampires."

Clementine walked into the kitchen walking past Mason on his way out and Damon leaning against the sink. Looking behind to make sure he was actually gone, "Take it your plan didn't work?" She asked pouring herself a cup of sweet tea.
"No. He just wants to be here for his family. Said almost killing Stefan was an accident. But I know that's a lie, and I'm gunna prove it." He said pulling out one of Grandma Gilbert long silver knives.
"Damon no, no, no." She quickly said leaving the cup and following right behind him.
"Relax Buffy, everything is gunna go according to plan." He said simply as she knew things weren't. Following him as he walked through the house, meeting everyone at the front door. "I was about to call you." Ashton said seeing his niece walking into the room. "You ready to go Puddin'?"
"What no takers for more drinks at the Grill?" Mason asked looking around at the group collecting their things. "It's like I'm with a bunch of adults here."
"I prefer the term role model."
"We aren't in high school anymore. We gotta get this one home." Ash said pointing towards the small girl zipping up her bag.
"Ok. Well, thanks for having me. It was awesome. Alaric, catch that game next week?" Mason said saying his goodbyes. "Yeah. Looking forward to it." Alaric said as the Lockwood turned to the two Lightwoods. "It was nice meeting you Camil, and it was great catching up with you two."
"Hey, you know I should probably head out, too." Damon said as Ashton raised his brows and motion for Clem to go. Quickly weaving by to everyone and following out the door hoping Damon wasn't going to do anything stupid yet. They were half way to home when Camil broke the silence, "I had a nice time, thank you for taking me with."
"Of course, I figured it would be nice. I'm just surprised how fast she came around." He said looking back at Clementine who was starring out the window with earbuds in.
She looked back and smile lightly, "We just needed a nice conversation. Say has she always had a caffeine addiction?"
"For as long as I can remembered,"
"It's just cupid's have a huge sweet tooth. And I saw her drink like four cups like it was nothing." She said simply fiddling with her bracelet. "Huh," He said after a moment before glancing through the mirror at her. He was happy that they were finally gunna have answers. Happy that even though they had to go through this she wasn't gunna let her go through it alone. He spent so much time searching for someone like Camil to give them answers. He made sure to make important things; birthdays, holidays, graduations, vacations, sick days, babysitting duties, it didn't matter he always made it. Even if he was an hour late, he was there. But it still felt like he missed so much.
He sat in the kitchen with Prue and Michael catching them up on everything as he heard Clementine run up the stairs and the bathroom door shutting. "Was she okay?" Prue asked suddenly looking at Camil who was standing in the door way.
Camil nodded stepping forward, "She had a slight slip up but she calmed down and everything after that was fine. I think she drinks more coffee than me." She said in a calming tone seeing her face soften. "Good,"

Clementine sat on her bed twirling the flower around starring at it with a smile. The same smile she all ways had when Damon did something for her, the same way how her cheeks would hurt but she didn't notice, nor did she care. It was now dark and she was winding down for the night. "An orange jesamine he must really like you," Camil's voice suddenly came.
Her head snapped over to it wondering how long she had been standing there, and how long was she gushing over the flower. "Huh?"
"The orange jesamine is native in India and China. He went a long way to get a flower, that flower, for a girl named Clementine." She explained pointing to the white plant in her hand.
"A gift from Damon," She said simply making both cupid's smile, Camil just happy to see young love again.
"Get some sleep, we're going running tomorrow." She informed shutting the door behind her.
Clem's soften, starting to fell her cheekbones hurt. Placing the delicate flower in the tall cup with shallow water. Twisting the lamp switch off and climbing under the heavy covers remembering exactly why he choose that one.
"Come on just tell me," Clementine asked siting upright in bed looking back at Damon. It was one of the nights where they would just spend it dangled up with each other watching movies on her laptop and just falling asleep in each other's arms. "Please Damon, I've always wanted to know,"
A smile appeared on his face, a real genuine smile that she always loved. "Fine," He sat up next to her tracing his finger up and down her palm. "You smell...fruity, but not just like regualr fruits the sour citrus ones but a sweeter version. One with vanilla and coconut."
"So... I smell like a sweet orange?" She asked with a slight laugh.
"Yes Clementine, you smell like the sweetest orange out there." He said making her head tilt as a gaint smile plastered on her face. "Well, this Clementine needs a coffee, what do you say? And I'll make sure Millie doesn't try to tackle you this time."
🍊
Damon walked out of the Grill, "Bad day?" Katherine said suddenly stopping him in his tracks. "Bad century. I heard you were on the loose."
"What's the matter? Jealous I spent the day with Stefan?"
"I don't do jealous. Not with you. Not anymore." He said expression less as he walked away and she followed. "Then why so pouty? Clementine didn't like your flowers?"
"Tried to kill a werewolf and failed. Now I feel like I'm not living up to me best self." He said sarcastic ignoring the fact she was trying to get a reaction out of him. "Well, werewolves aren't easy prey." She said simply making him stop and turn to her. "What do you know about werewolves?"
"Why don't you ask your brother? Don't try to be the hero, Damon. You'll end up dead."
"Been there, done that. At least this time it will have been worth it." He said walking away.
"She's gunna get you killed. It'll never work Damon, a vampire and a hunter ends with someone dying. And it's not gunna be her."
