Zachary burst into the apartment with such a loud bang that it startled Ethan. The cup of water he held onto slipped and fell onto the ground. The liquid mended into the ends of his socks as he looked up at Zach who looked ready to pounce.
"Where'd you run off to?" Zach rubbed at his eyes as he put his keys onto the dining table. "Just took Tara somewhere real quick, sorry for scaring you, normally you aren't here at this hour".
Ethan smiled as he cleaned the water off the ground "I left my costume here for the party tonight, I had a few last things to add before it's done".
Zach nodded "well you have fun with that, I'm gonna shower and then attempt to study for class, I swear the professors love giving me work".
Ethan didn't get a chance to speak again, Zach was already pulling his shirt off and slamming the bathroom door shut behind him. Ethan huffed slightly as he grabbed his costume out of his room.
Zach leaned into the shower wall as the hot water melted away into his skin. He couldn't bring himself to move, he just let the water hit him.
"Zachary" his body grew tense as he opened his eyes and turned slightly. Maybe he had truly lost his mind and was going insane.
What would Tara say now? he felt his hands shake as he pulled the shower curtain back. He didn't see anyone "Ethan!" his voice cracked slightly and he smacked himself for being so paranoid.
The doorknob turned, he felt like he was gonna vomit as the water turned cold. He felt the air in his lungs getting ready to disappear but then the door opened and Ethan appeared.
"What's up?" he let out a breath of relief, it was just his imagination. Of course it was, he was crazy. "I forgot a towel, could you bring me one?".
Ethan nodded and the door shut, Zach was left alone again with this thoughts as he leaned back into the wall for support. "Zachary".
He ignored it this time, his fingers growing numb as he let the cold water soothe away his uneasiness. The door creaked open and he pushed the curtain back his eyes clashing with Ethan's.
"So what exactly are you wearing at the party tonight?" his fingers found comfort in the warmth of the towel as he grabbed it from Ethan's grasp.
"It's a surprise, and it's also not done yet" Zach laughed lightly "sorry if I disturbed your arts and crafts time Mr.Landry, I'll just walk around naked next time and grab my own towel".
Ethan laughed as Zach stepped out of the shower, his eyes lingered on the scars. He had never seen them before, only heard whispers from the others.
The only one he always saw was the one on Zach's throat, the one that wasn't hard to miss. The first day he meant him, he was greeted with that scar. Back then Zach wasn't as trustworthy, he was jumpy whenever Ethan would appear.
Now he was somewhat normal around him, of course Ethan didn't like the boy, not really. That's what he would whisper to his father and sister whenever they asked if he had gotten closer to Zach, close enough to gain his trust.
He did gain the boys trust, in a matter of weeks and all he had to do was just be patient. Within a few days he would stab Zach over and over until nothing was left. This was more then a means of revenge in his eyes, it was just for fun really.
He was dragging the game along, it would make the kill that more enjoyable when he saw the hurt hidden behind Zach's eyes.
Ethan was a quiet guy when he wanted to be, whenever he would grow still and silent. Zach would feel uneasy for a solid five minutes.
He patted Ethan's shoulder weakly as he walked out of the bathroom. "I'll probably be asleep when you run off to the party, but I'm sure you can show me when you get back, I'll likely be awake then".
Zach walked into the kitchen his foot slamming onto a piece of glass. "Shit!" he hissed out in pain as he pressed his fingers into his skull.
His hands shock for a moment as that sense of deja vu slammed into his bones and veins. That sting made him think so harshly. His wounds felt like they had ripped open and were bleeding out.
His throat felt so heavy and sore as he leaned into the refrigerator for support. His eyes snapped closed as he let out heavy breaths. "I must've missed a piece of glass, my bad Zach".
Ethan's voice sounded so far away as Zach kept his eyes shut, the blood that stained his foot coated the ground. He didn't wanna look, he'd probably faint.
"It's fine, I just need a minute" his voice sounded forced and he felt the prying touch of ghostface on his shoulders. He felt the knife jabbing into his stomach and he jumped away from the refrigerator.
The action made Ethan jump as well as Zach opened his eyes as neatly slipped over a rag on the ground. Ethan actually felt bad for the boy.
Zach let out a weak sigh as Ethan walked towards him, gripping his hand as he helped him walk towards the couch. Being sure his foot didn't touch the ground to deepen the glass in it.
He leaned into the couch cushion for support as Ethan looked at his foot. "I'll get the glass out" Zach let out a chuckle "of course I'd be the one to step on a tiny piece of glass". He let out a hiss of discomfort when Ethan pulled the glass shard out.
He watched as the blood dripped down onto the floor. It echoed in his eardrums as he felt himself become lightheaded. "Thanks" he leaned back into the couch, his eyes shutting for a moment.
He could still feel that mask burning holes into his face. It made him feel uneasy as he opened his eyes.
He felt better once the wound was bandaged, he sighed deeply "well I better get studying, have fun with your secret costume".
He grinned as he stood up off the couch, the bottom of his foot ached but he ignored it as he smiled at Ethan. "You'll see it later, trust me you'll love it".
Zach walked into his room pushing the door shut, he leaned into his door letting out a shaky breath.
