three

Friday, the first day of the weekend, the second school was over. Cassie threw every single notebook into her bag and left the school in a rush. She could feel the harsh glare of Edward Cullen digging into her flesh as she drove off.

She sometimes liked to imagine Edward Cullen was a decent human being, if he even was human. This entire obsession was overall shitty for her. She didn't yearn for answers, but she knew if she gave up, things would fall apart for her.

She parked her car before getting out, walking into the small coffee shop. She sat alone like always, looking over her notes as she sipped away at cup after cup of coffee.

Soft hums of music entered her ears as she looked outside the window beside her. She watched people walking about, they looked happy; normal.

The door chimed and her eyes locked with Edwards almost instantly. She pushed her notebook closed when she noticed him walking towards her.

She could ignore him, pretend he wasn't real but here he was. Sitting across from her his gaze burning into her very soul.

She took her headphones out "you make it a habit of sitting at random people's tables?". He smiled weakly as he looked at her notebook.

"Only ones I don't trust, you come here every Friday after school. You just sit here until it's dark, and the only thing you do is look at that".

He pointed at her notebook, she grabbed it "well I'm not surprised you're following me around. I saw you the other day, in that tree. If you're gonna stalk me, maybe do a better job at it".

She went to leave but he grabbed her arm stopping her. She looked at him "you want answers about my family, I need to know if I can trust you".

She felt shocked as she sat back down "you mean you're gonna finally tell me your secrets". She grabbed her notebook but he grabbed it away.

"Only if you tell me yours" he opened the notebook as she grew tense "I don't have secrets Edward". He laughed lightly "your mind is loud, most people don't even realize they have secrets, but you aren't like most people. You keep your secrets hidden".

He looked at her arms "does your father know what you do when you lock your door, has he seen the scars you've marked on yourself".

She blinked as she looked outside "I don't know what you're talking about". She felt a shiver run along her spine when Edwards fingers touched her skin. He pulled her sleeve upwards, his fingers running along her scars.

"Such a fragile thing" he looked at her as she pulled her arm away from his hold. "Tell me, just tell me already Edward". He smiled "I imagine you will find closure once I tell you".

For once her thoughts were silent, and he couldn't figure out what she was feeling.

Her tone was soft as she put her things into her bag "I don't think I'll ever have closure". She stared at him blankly as she stood up from the table.

Her thoughts were clear once again and Edward hid away his emotions. I'll be gone soon

She smiled weakly at him as she walked out of the shop. She pressed her headphones back into her ears as she neared her car.

Before she could even open her door Edward appeared in front of her again making her jump. She huffed in annoyance "you gotta stop doing that! It's really annoying and honestly scary".

He leaned into her car door laughing lightly as she rolled her eyes at him. "Meet me tonight behind your house, I'll tell you everything". He walked away and Cassie stood there for a moment.

Was she actually finally going to get answers? She sighed to herself as she got into her car.

The clock struck midnight and she could hear the soft footsteps of her father leaving for work. She stared out her window, watching as rain fell down towards the ground harshly. Her hand grasped tightly onto a flashlight as she walked out of her room and slipped out the front door.

She shivered as rain hit her flesh, she walked behind her house careful not to slip on any mud. She felt the softness of the grass mending away into her boots as she sat down on the small bench.

A bench her father could never part with, she hated it deeply, the wood on it old and slowly rotting away. She held onto the flashlight, and she waited.

She lost track of the time, her eyes hazy as the flashlight fell out of her hands. The smack of it hitting the ground made her jump slightly.

Her eyes opened and she looked around, something inside of her snapped, she felt like a rapid animal. Rain poured down into her very soul as she stood up from the bench and screamed.

She felt like she was suffocating as she slammed her foot down into the bench. It fell over with a weak thud, the wood chipped as she kicked at it over and over, until nothing was left.

Nothing but an empty vessel of utter agony and despair. She felt the warmth of blood mending beneath her boots as she ran into her home.

She felt like she was losing her mind as she slammed her bedroom door shut. Edward Cullen was a fucking parasite and she couldn't escape him.

He didn't show, she would expect the matter to just go away, that it wouldn't bother her so much. But god she wanting to fucking scream.

She never felt such rage before, she didn't care if the world was burning around her. She didn't care if the neighbors called the police.

She just didn't care anymore, Edward Cullen was finally going to give her answers. Finally let her mind rest but now it was all ruined.

She had set her hopes up way too high, she should've known he wouldn't show up. That he'd rather watch her slowly lose her mind and tragically disappear.

Cassie felt like she couldn't breath as she paced back and forth. Maybe she wasn't meant to ever get closure, maybe this was a curse.

Then she heard it, the soft click of her front door opening. She let out a desperate breath as she walked towards her door.

Please don't take me yet

Edward Cullen walked up the stairs at a slow pace. The scent of blood was the first thing that caught his attention as he looked at Cassie's bedroom door. save her, just save her.

When he opened the door he saw her, she was pressed against her desk. Blood slipped out of the palm of her hand, as it wrapped around a shard of glass. Such a fragile thing, such beauty.

She looked ready to sob as she pushed the glass forward. "You didn't show up! I was out there for hours! I waited, you didn't show up!".

Edward walked toward her, his hand reaching forward "Cassie, put the glass down". She let out a shaky breath as she sneered at him angrily.

"Stop lying to me Edward! Just tell me already!" his gaze softened for a moment, had he truly cursed this girl into utter madness?

"Is that what you want? For me to tell you how much of a monster I am? To tell you I'm not normal, that I'm the bad guy...".

Cassie grabbed the notebook off her desk, throwing it towards his feet. "I've spent months trying to figure out what you are, trying to put together the puzzle pieces, but they never go together".

She let out a laugh "and now you're going to tell me, I don't believe you... it can't be that easy". Cassie let out a gasp when Edward appeared right in front of her. His hand gripped her wrist as the glass fell out of her palm.

"Go on, say it" his gaze was intense as she looked at him. She winced at the pain that ran along her flesh as she glared at him.

"You gonna kill me..." he lifted her hand upwards, his gaze looking at the blood that left her wound harshly. "Say it Cassie, what am I?" his grip tightened around her flesh making her yelp.

"Edward" her voice cracked as he looked at her, she felt so small under his eyes. "Your thoughts are loud, I'm not going to kill you, I want to though".

He let her go and she pressed her hand into herself "vampire, or possibly just a really weird person". He couldn't help but smile at her words as he walked towards her door.

"So am I right?" he looked at her as he opened her door "perhaps you'll finally get that closure you're so desperate for". She let out a heavy breath as she watched him leave, this couldn't be it?

"Edward, wait!" She ran out of her room only to find he was already gone. The air grew silent, she was alone, and yet, she still felt his gaze.
