She looked innocent, the way her chest rose with each breath it drew Edward more in. Her eyes were shut as she laid on her side, the blankets were wrapped around her frame perfectly. The hat on top of her head was on the verge of falling off, but she was in such a deep slumber it didn't bother her.
Her hands would move every so often, they folded more into herself as she would shiver. Heavy patches of rain coated the windows and Edward could hear the harsh winds without even having to look outside.
He tilted his head slightly as he looked down at Cassie, her chest rose once more as air entered her lungs. He could hear her heart beating, he leaned towards her neck. She didn't move a single inch in his presence, he could have her right here.
It'd be so fast she wouldn't even feel it, his fangs would steal every single cell of life and she wouldn't even wake up once. Her body wouldn't even react and she'd become an empty vessel that he marked as his.
He inhaled her scent, let his fingers hover over her collarbone as he watched her chest rise and fall. Her hand twitched, he let his fingers dig into her collarbone. One swift move and her bones would snap in half, she'd never have enough time to even scream.
Her hand twitched against his arm as he held her down, he could feel the panic slipping into her body as her heart grew louder. He smelled the fear that latched onto her skin as he ran his fingers along her throat. She was delicate and all he had to do was press down and she'd seize to exist,
She whimpered, her hand latching against his shoulder as he leaned into her neck. He felt her wake up, felt the panic fading away as she wrapped her arms around him. He was surprised by the suddenness of her pulling him against her.
He felt her pain, felt her hands shake as she dug her fingers into his back to ease away the agony she was feeling. He felt the warmth of her tears melting into his flesh as he pressed his lips against her neck.
She didn't flinch at the contact, she relaxed as she let out a heavy breath. Her hold loosened on him as she closed her eyes slowly, perhaps she was acting her fate. He didn't want this, she was meant to be scared to fight against his sudden actions.
He'd rather her be asleep for this, if she wasn't going to fight then he'd have to wait until the time was right. When Cassie opened her eyes, Edward was gone and her chest felt heavy as she sat up quickly.
She pressed the blanket into herself as she looked outside the window. She let out a breath she was holding in as she wiped the tears off her face. She couldn't move, she would've ran after Edward.
Told him he could just kill her at this rate, but instead she just sat there in silence letting her thoughts soothe away any anxieties she held. She didn't understand what happened, but she felt him. Every fiber of her being was in his hands, she knew he would've killed her if she kept her eyes shut.
Part of her wanted him to, dying by the hands of Edward Cullen didn't seem all that bad. At least she'd leave this earth with someone feeling satisfied with her presence. The feeling of his lips on her neck didn't scare her like she thought it would, it excited her.
She felt alive in that moment, the air felt colder without the presence of Edward Cullen. He had likely ran off into the woods to hunt, she knew her blood had woken something inside of him.
She pushed herself off the bed as she walked towards the bathroom in a hurry. She pushed the door shut as she approached the sink with slow steps.
Edward didn't hesitate to latch his hands around the deer's throat. It snapped with such ease as he used all his strength, he could smell Cassie's scent all over its fur. It drove him insane as he bit into its neck.
Cassie looked at the bruises on her collarbone and throat, they were so visible and so fresh. She would think something like this would freak her out but instead she felt the same. Another part of her was scared, even if it was a tiny grain of fear. She wishes she could latch onto it and leave this place.
She kept her thoughts quiet as she turned the shower on, the steam seeped into the room slowly as she leaned into the sink. She should leave, she wouldn't look back once the second she's out of forks.
She bit her lip so harshly it broke the skin, she ignored the taste of the blood as she watched the steam fill the room more. She moved away from the sink as she looked at the door, if she opened it they'd hear.
Edward could already be back, or if she was lucky he was halfway across the forest snapping poor innocent animals necks. She doesn't fully remember the rest of the night, just that she slept on the bathroom floor.
The steam faded away as the water turned cold, and she ignored every single voice that tried to wake her.

"You mean you play baseball?" Cassie frowned deeply as she looked at Rosalie. No one mentioned what happened last night, and Cassie figured it was because of Edward telling them not to.
Part of her wanted to ask the boy why he didn't just kill her as he walked into the house. She would've but she stopped herself when she caught sight of Bella Swan. Maybe the girl would run away if Cassie told her about Edwards actions last night.
Then again maybe the girl wouldn't run at the same time out of fear herself. Cassie ignored Edward all together as she tried to eat a bowl of cereal.
Rosalie sat beside her putting on her baseball cap "we play whenever there's a storm, I'd invite you to watch but you'd likely find it not entertaining".
Cassie set her spoon down into the bowl as she watched the Cullens outside start to get into their cars. She watched Edward drive off with Bella and part of her was actually scared for once.
She flinched when Rosalie grabbed a hold of her arm "you need to leave.... The second we're all gone, just go and don't even look back once. He's not going to stop until he kills you, Cassie, we weren't supposed to say anything, but something about you draws him in, I don't know if it's your blood or just you in general".
Cassie let out a shaky breath "Rose, I can't leave. Not when he's with Bella, what if he....". Her words are cut off by Rosalie hugging her "he wants you more".
Cassie relaxed into Rosalie's hold "I guess I don't get to see baseball then, instead I have to run away and pretend my life isn't falling apart, I don't know if I should be more scared of cancer or Edward".
"I know you'll be okay, your scent will fade away the further you move away from forks, just don't stop". Cassie moved back "he didn't kill me last night, why didn't he kill me Rose? He was right there and he could've just end it all so fast".
Rosalie looked outside as she watched the cars drive away "because you weren't scared, he wants you to be scared Cassie, it's what drives him more to you, maybe if you leave... he'll understand what he feels towards you isn't the urge to kill you.. it's something else that he just can't figure out yet".
Cassie couldn't help but chuckle to herself "maybe he's just in love with me, he has a rather strange way of showing it though, you'd think he'd be this way towards Bella. But it's me instead and apparently it gets more intense the more I'm here".
Rosalie sighed "it'll only get more worse the longer you're here, every cell in his body will want to kill you, he'll rip you apart without even caring about the consequences. Maybe if you went back home, kept yourself hidden until you pass, he'll be okay".
Cassie tapped her fingers along the countertop "would it be crazy if I said I'd rather just stay here, sure he'll kill me, but what if you keep me safe? I mean your family can...". Rosalie sat down beside Cassie "it'll just be an excuse for us to move if he kills you, my family won't blink an eye at one girl's death, Edward has a history of this happening every few years. It's like a curse, at least that's what we call it".
Cassie smiled sadly "a curse and I'm at the end of it, I practically put myself on a silver platter for him, no one here really cares about me, I'm just bait".
"I care, that's why I'm telling you to leave, I don't care if Edward hates me for the rest of our lives, if it means I got to stop this, to help someone. Then it'll mean I'm not a monster".
Cassie nodded as she watched the rain outside the window "I'll be gone when you're back, I'm sorry that you think you're a monster Rosalie, because no monster would've helped me so much".
When Cassie blinked Rosalie was gone and she was alone in the coldness. She held onto herself as she looked outside the window, she watched the sky darken as she prepared for the worst.

authors notes: we're getting to my favorite part of this story, the one where Edward is full on crazy. I wrote this in under 20 minutes and I literally have to go outside and touch grass, because I've been writing nonstop for the last 5 hours. Anyways enjoy!
