DON'T LEAVE ME PART TWO
What would my head be like
If not for my shoulders
Or without your smile
But follow you forever
May it never leave you
To sleep in the stone, maybe
Stay lost on our way home
c'mon : p!atd and fun
There were days where Mitsuba felt lonely, and there were days where Mitsuba wanted nothing more than someone to exorcise him already.
Without Kou, it felt like seconds were hours, hours were days. And each night he curled himself into a ball, pathetically reminiscing the times he was a human and needed sleep, wishing that someone would just end his pain.
It hurt.
So goddamn much. So imagine Mitsuba went through that for three years.
Tsukasa, Natsuhiko, Sakura, Hanako, and Yashiro: they all tried to make Mitsuba open up, but it only caused him to snap at them to leave him alone! He regretted it — of course he did, they were the only ones left. But he can't bring himself to be the same Mitsuba when his other half is missing.
But today, Mitsuba finally experienced the moment where his non-existent heart skipped a beat, mouth agape, and body trembling.
Kou was there.
He was standing right before his very eyes.
"Th—This is a dream— a cruel one, I'm sure," Mitsuba fretted, tugging on his hair to see if the pain would wake him up. "N—No."
Kou lifted his chin and smiled — not his usual sunshine smile, but a soft one; a reassuring one, as if to say I'm here. "Hey, Mitsuba," he weakly said.
For the first time in three, empty years, Mitsuba cried out of joy. He threw his arms around Kou and shakily gave him a hug, his tears cascading down his cheeks like the rain that started in the sky. It was funny how it was also raining when they parted, is this a sign?
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Kou cooed, yet he's also tearing up. "I'm sorry. I know I said I would visit you, but so much was going on that I was in a bad place. I didn't want that to rub on you."
Mitsuba pulled away, and stared at Kou. He just realized that Kou resembled his older brother know, but with more pizzazz to his style (which is, in Mitsuba's honest opinion, way better). He still wore the earring, though. But at least his leather jacket would distract you from that.
"You've changed."
"And you haven't at all." Kou chuckled, ruffling Mitsuba's hair. "I'm still the same Kou. And it's nice to know you'll always be the same Mitsuba I know." He trailed off when he saw Mitsuba's frown. "You okay?"
No, Mitsuba wasn't.
Mitsuba was suddenly reminded of the fact that Kou is a human, and he's a ghost — Kou will grow and grow into a young man, and Mitsuba will. . .always stay the same. They're both from another worlds.
"I'm sorry, Mitsuba," Kou croaked out. "I promise I'll visit you again, and sooner this time! Maybe next week? Would you—" Mitsuba noticed he was carrying his staff.
"Kou, can you exorcise me?"
Kou halted. "What?"
Mitsuba gulped. "I want you to exorcise me. I need it, please. I don't want to be a bother and be the one who you'd be force to see every now and then—"
"—but I visit you here because I want to—"
"—and I think it's time, anyway. I want it, Kou, really." Mitsuba forced a smile. "Can't you do a favor for me?"
Kou looked away from him pleading eyes, his brows stitched together. He was thinking. "I want you to be happy, but I didn't expect you'd choose that." He looked back at Mitsuba and felt his eyes linger on the the way he bit his lip.
"I like you, too."
The blond froze. "Wait— really?" Mitsuba almost felt guilty for confessing because of how hopeful Kou looked.
"Yeah." Mitsuba really meant it. "I need you to exorcise me, you hella-lame traffic-safety earring boy."
And just like that, Kou felt his tears go down. But it's not like Mitsuba saw it, it was raining. His eyes burned. He could see how much Mitsuba wanted it. Kou reluctantly raised his staff, and Mitsuba held his breath in anticipation. Mitsuba closed his eyes.
"I'll see you in the next life, yeah, girly face?"
Mitsuba chuckled. "I'll always come back to you, right?"
There were days where he couldn't breathe.

Hello! Here's the part two you requested. You never said it could be fluff hehe. But thank you for requesting!
MitsuKou is honestly one of the saddest ships (aside from HanaNene—) and, come on guy, it's basically canon.
Thank you for reading! 💕
