HANAHAKI DISEASE. . .part three (kind of?)
Alternate title:
THIRD TIME'S NOT THE CHARM
WARNING: ANGST³ (as gaysagittarius had said) AND MENTIONS OF DEATH :(

"This will take some time to get used to."
Hanako stared at Yashiro as she twirled around the room, giggling and gasping in awe everytime she tried to float higher or do a cool trick. Hanako was on the verge of fainting again.
"I should be the one saying that," Hanako breathed out, still following Yashiro as she floated and checked every corner of the room. "This is insane."
Yashiro smiled and flew towards him abruptly. Both her and Hanako gasped, which probably meant Yashiro still wasn't used to her speed and control. Hanako reached his hand out and poked her nose, gently, as if he was afraid she would disappear if he held her.
It had been an hour since Yashiro became a ghost, an hour since Hanako, Kou, Tsuchigomori freaked out at the sight of her transparent body, an hour since Tsuchigomori escorted Kou out of the room because the blond (almost) had a heart attack and fainted.
It had been an hour since Yashiro Nene's death.
"Why. . .are you a ghost?" Hanako asked softly, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Yashiro bit her lip. "I don't know. You told me that humans become an apparition if we have unfinished business, right? Maybe I can stop this, maybe that's the solution."
But Hanako doesn't want Yashiro to be gone.
Again.
"Maybe your unfinished business is not confessing to Minamoto-senpai," Hanako joked, nudging her with his elbow.
Yashiro turned bright red. "T-That would be a silly reason! I don't even like Minamoto-senpai that way! He's more like an idol for me." Yashiro clasped her hands together and sighed dreamily. "Oh, Minamoto-senpai, what a charming-"
"Prince?" Hanako bitterly finished. "Yeah, yeah, we get that already." Hanako waved off Yashiro's thoughts about the second-year blond and huffed.
Yashiro just laughed and didn't think too much about it, lest she'd ruin Hanako's mood.
She knows that she just passed away in the near shore and is now roaming around as a spirit in the far shore. And she's happy with that. Yashiro isn't aware yet that it's a pretty big deal, which is why she's confused as to why Hanako is malfunctioning.
It may take some time, but this could be something she could get used to.
Though she wasn't aware of it, she had been suffering from the Hanahaki disease for a couple while. And she wanted it to end so badly, but at the same time, she doesn't want her feelings towards Hanako to disappear.
Which is why this route is the only reasonable one - because it means she'll get to be with Hanako.
Maybe it means her classmates will be sad, her family, her friends. . .but either way, she was going to die early. The Hanahaki disease just sped up the process. Her spirit can protect them.
I mean, she can float now!
If that isn't cool, then Yashiro doesn't know what is.
She can hunt her friends, make them scared, and then trick her teachers! She can also do that along with Hanako! That would be so good. And then they could laugh together, maybe not with her friends because they can't. . .see. . .her.
Yashiro realized how dire the situation is.
"Oh." Yashiro stared at the ground lifelessly.
Hanako quickly offered a hug. "Hey, hey, it's okay. Some of your friends can still see you, right?" He reminded her of the special students with the ability to see supernaturals.
"But. . .Aoi can't see me. . .most of my classmates can't see me, and my family - oh no, my family."
"I'm sorry, Yashiro. This is all my fault."
Yashiro gently pushed Hanako away, and stood up and left the room. "I need some time to think," she said.
And in that moment, Hanako was hit with the fact that he doesn't know what to do, for the third time in his life.
First, was when the world was against him and he had enough.
Second, was when he lost the person he kept close to his heart, and it was his own fault for not being open.
And third - being honest, is the most painful one - was deciding whether he should be selfish and keep Yashiro to himself, or just let her go.
Stupid Hanahaki disease.
