VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL!

- - -

"Senpai!" Kou barged in, and paused, panting.

He was currently in Yashiro's classroom, which was mostly empty except for Yashiro fixing her things, probably preparing to go to Hanako's boundary.

Yashiro blinked and hurried towards the slouched and sweaty blond. "Minamoto-kun? What's wrong?"

Kou lifted his head, but still avoided Yashiro's eyes, his cheeks tinted red. He then held out a rose and shakily handed it to the stunned girl. "T-This is for you, senpai. Thank you for everything you've done!"

Yashiro gushed and hugged Kou. "Aw, thank you, Minamoto-kun! I really appreciate it!"

Kou erupted into a blush.

"Now, let's go to Hanako-kun's, okay?" Yashiro slung her bag over her shoulder and started walking outside of the classroom, her hand holding Kou's wrist as she held Kou's rose in the other.

Kou stood still, and glanced at the clock. He frowned. Too early.

Where did he tell me to take senpai again?

"Uh, senpai?" He called out. "Can we, uh, visit a place first?" He asked nervously, looking down on his shoes.

Yashiro tilted her head. "Oh? Where?" She finally let go of Kou's wrist, until Kou - rather gently - grabbed Yashiro's hand.

"You'll see!"

He then ran away from the direction of the toilets, dragging Yashiro along. While Yashiro was shrieking some incoherent words as her hair flew over her face, Kou was busy trying to think deeply.

"Where are we headed to?" Yashiro asked when Kou slowed down, his eyes flitting from one place to another.

"Uh. . .uhm. . ." Kou stammered out. "Uh, Teru-nii-chan's?. . ." He faltered.

Yashiro paused for a moment, her brows knitted in confusion. "Teru-n-oh! Minamoto-senpai!" Yashiro let out a light-hearted laugh, until she trailed off and screamed. "M-M-M-Minamoto-senpai!?"

Kou brightened. "Yeah! I think he said something about heading over to the library which is-" the two twirled around- "right there!"

Kou lead Yashiro towards the entrance of the library, where a taller blond stood, writing on his clipboard.

Kou sprinted over to his big brother and exclaimed his name, a huge smile on his face.

Teru's eyes snapped to the younger Minamoto's, his lips gracing into a smile. "Kou?" He turned to Yashiro, who's frozen and inwardly fangirling. "And Yashiro-san? What are you two doing here?"

After Kou spit out a string of uh, uhm, ah's, he eventually gave up and just told Teru the first excuse that came on his mind. "We were looking for you!"

"Looking for me?"

"Yeah! What are you doing here!?"

Teru blinked and looked at Kou with pure curiosity, before bursting into a fit of chuckles. "You came to find me to ask me what am I doing?"

Kou nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah!"

Teru shook his head, a smile still on his face. "You can't just do things so randomly for no good reason. You're bothering Yashiro-san here."

Yashiro flinched at the mention of her name, while Kou stared at the girl with huge, sad, puppy eyes.

"Senpai, am I bothering you?"

Yashiro wildly shook her head. "No! No! Not at all, Minamoto-kun!"

"Alright then, how about you two hurry along? Kou, meet me up by the school gate at 5:30 pm, okay?" Teru told Kou. "I have some things to take care of before we leave this school." He waved at the two and smiled, walking away.

Yashiro turned to Kou. "Can we visit Hanako-kun now? I feel like he's gonna punish me for not taking care of the toilets early."

"Didn't Hanako-kun tell you today's our day off?"

"He did?"

"Yeah. . ?"

"Oh!" Yashiro laughed at herself. "I remember now!" No, she doesn't. "Still, I want to visit Hanako-kun. Let's go-"

"No!" Kou cried out, scaring Yashiro a bit.

"W-Wha-"

"Senpai! Uh. . .say hello 20 times!" Kou blurted, then mentally face-palmed himself.

Yashiro frowned. "Isn't that 10 times?"

Kou stayed silent.

"Alright, alright." Yashiro smiled. "Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello. . ." Yashiro continued on.

When Yashiro was about to reach 20, Kou finally exclaimed, "and now!"

He grabbed Yashiro wrist and started running.

"Minamoto-kun-!?"

"Let's go to Hanako's!" Was all Kou said.

Yashiro wasn't really able to do anything at the moment, nor think straight because Kou was acting so weird lately, so she just opted to nod.

Finally, they reached the third floor, third stall girls' bathroom, sweating and breathing heavily.

Yashiro gasped when she lifted her head to view Hanako's boundary. "Why is it so dark. . ?"

"Uh, I need to go now!" Kou then ran away without another word.

Yashiro panicked. "Minamoto-kun. . ." She faltered and just huffed. "What's up with everyone today? I get that it's Valentine's Day, and Kou is always unpredictable, but this is just absurd."

She just stepped in, feeling chills from the darkness and heavy atmosphere. Yashiro breathed in through her nose and slowly exhaled, clutching the red rose in her hand tightly.

"Hanako-kun?" Yashiro called out, then shrieked when she heard a loud slam and everything went dark. She wildly looked around, until it dawned on her that the door closed.

"H-Hanako-kun? Are you there?" She tried again.

"I'm here~"

Yashiro shrieked and tried to slap away the hand that was suddenly placed on her shoulder, and she managed to push it away.

Hanako pouted and rubbed his hand. "Aw, the nostalgia was ruined. . ."

Yashiro blinked as the window opened, allowing the light of the stars to illuminate the toilet. She looked around and noticed a string of hearts placed on each corner of the wall along with. . .stars and fire-breathing monsters. . ?

"Hanako-kun, what's all this?" Yashiro's voice was breathless, partly from the shock earlier, and her amazement at how cute the designs looked.

Hanako gave her a smile, along with a bright red rose. "Remember when we first met?"

Yashiro took the rose from him and blushed. "Uh- yes. We met here."

"Exactly in this spot, right?"

Yashiro looked down on the ground, then her brows shot up in surprise. "Oh, yeah! I remember!"

Hanako chuckled. "Good memories." He sighed and floated near above Yashiro. "You know, I can never imagine what my life would've been if you hadn't knocked on my door that day. . ."

Yashiro has never really thought about it, but. . .now that it's been brought to light, she can't imagine a life without Hanako by her side. They had some bad and good times, but Yashiro never once regretted being Hanako's assistant.

"And," Hanako continued, his face tilted adorably, "It's painful to think about a life where I never met you. So I'm really grateful you're my assistant!"

He crashed into Yashiro, giving her a tight hug and a reassuring squeeze.

"I'm really lucky to have someone like you in my life, you know?"

Yashiro doesn't know why, but tears started to well up in her eyes. It's not sad tears, but with all these emotions overwhelming her, it's like she's feeling every emotion at the same time. If that makes sense.

Hanako pulled away and gave Yashiro a quick peck on the forehead. "I'm going to treasure this moment while I still can, okay?"

Yashiro nodded, sniffling as she hugged Hanako. Yashiro wasn't exactly sure, but when she squinted, she thought she saw Hanako's cheeks tinted red.

But all that aside. . .

Valentine's has never been so memorable for her before.
