WATTPAD JUST RUINED THIS CHAPTER I HAD A GOOD VERSION OF THIS BUT IT GOT DELETED 😭

It was oh so simple.

Mitsuba knew that Kou was interested in his cute senpai, Yashiro Nene. Mitsuba knew that Kou only saw him as his undead, best friend. It's simple and easy to understand: Kou didn't see Mitsuba that way.

And Mitsuba would've been fine with it, because it meant their feelings were set in stone. Mitsuba liked Kou, but Kou didn't like him back.

But then Kou ruined everything with his words.

Everything would've been easy to understand, until Kou messed it all up and made Mitsuba even more confused with how he feels - or even worse, Mitsuba became hopeful because of Kou's words.

"How about I die, too,

So we can stay together forever?"

The words echoed in Mitsuba's mind, painfully loud and clear. No matter how many times Mitsuba tried to recall the moments, it never failed to make butterflies come to life in his stomach, their delicate wings grazing his body and sending shivers down his spine.

Does Kou even realize that those words are beyond the line of friendship? The blond said it with such sincere, caring eyes; his icy blue orbs soft yet piercing through Mitsuba when he uttered those words. Mitsuba always liked his eyes. Kou's tone was low and quiet, barely above a whisper.

It's a promise. A promise that you'll only make to someone you deeply care about. Kou promised to die just so him and Mitsuba can be side-by-side. He promised to risk his own life just so they'll be in each other's arms. Does Kou seriously think they're just friends? They have something special going on, and it's definitely not just plain friendship.

Does Kou even realize what he's done to Mitsuba?

The next following days, Mitsuba had an urge. Like a small flame growing bigger and brighter, Mitsuba craved Kou's presence like a drug. He's addicted now. There was no doubt Mitsuba's feelings became worse. The butterflies in his stomach erupted and multiplied.

It was only time those butterflies bloomed into flowers.

Mitsuba had been too selfish, he deserves these thorny flowers inside his lungs.

But somehow, these flowers in his chest, they're familiar, as if he felt it before. It then dawned on Mitsuba, he remembered, that the reason he died in his past life was because of these stupid flowers in the first place!

And to think it's for the same person, too. It wasn't some stupid accident (if you count crushing on his best friend an accident, then sure), Hanahaki disease was what killed him one day, because it became too much. He suffocated, in his unrequited love for Kou, and from these stupid flowers that blocked his throat.

Is he that stupid to let himself fall for Kou again?

Mitsuba whimpered in pain after coughing until his throat was too dry. The petals fell on the floor, splattered with dry blood.

This is what you get, idiot, Mitsuba harshly told himself as he continued to cough out flowers. He was too naive, too stupid to fall again - he let his guard down again. Just when Mitsuba thought he learned his lesson.

And so the flowers ripped his lungs and filled his throat one more time.
