↳ ❝🫐 [chapter 36] ¡! ❞🥃

HOSEOK'S BEEN SITTING IN THIS INTERROGATION ROOM FOR TWO HOURS NOW, staring at himself in the two-way mirror in front of him. He couldn't be sure if anyone was behind it seeing as he couldn't get up to check as he was handcuffed to the table. Apparently, he was a "danger to everyone around him", who would've thought?

The countless times he's been in this same spot was almost impossible to keep track of, but lucky for Hoseok, he has indeed kept track. 394 times throughout his entire life. 395 if you count this time.

It was the same.

Almost.

He had Lia to worry about. He was so worried about her, his mind swam with thoughts on how she couldn't possibly be okay. He was waiting to get his one phone call so he could call her and make sure she was okay.

"So are y'all gonna come and interrogate me or can I just get the hell out of here. I gotta girl at home waiting for me!" Hoseok yelled. He knew they could hear him, whoever was watching him.

After a few silent seconds, the door opened, and in came an average-height man with dark, brown hair. He wasn't the detective Hoseok was used to, a 6'3", burly, bald man who liked to spit when he spoke. Detective Hizer.

This man was new.

The man closed the door and sighed. "Mr. Jung. Nice to finally meet you. You're an urban myth around here." He walked over to the handcuffed man and placed down the file in his hand on the table. "I'm Detective Jimin Park."

Hoseok chuckled, well he certainly didn't expect this. He wasn't sure if this Jimin guy was trying to butter him up or something. "Well, that's nice to know. I like to think I leave a lasting impression on those I meet...You know, when someone gets arrested, you're supposed to tell them what they're getting arrested for."

Jimin smiled. He had a nice smile, one that someone would find comfort in, Hoseok didn't trust it even for a second. He sat down across from Hoseok. "You have an extensive record, Mr. Jung, or at least, things you've been brought in for. Assault, possession of drugs, murder."

"Still doesn't tell me what I'm here for."

Jimin's smile gets almost scarily wider. "Ah, well- it's looking like assault and battery. You know an Angelo Cain?" He looks like a shark right now. At least he sounds like a fairy and wasn't actively spitting in Hoseok's face like a spray bottle.

Hoseok looked away, pretending to think. He smacked his lips and sighed. "Doesn't ring a bell, no."

"Okay, how about Ophelia Cain? His wife. Or as you called her, your "girl"." The brunette suggested.

"Ah, yeah. Now I remember him." Hoseok nodded with a smile. "Like his wife too, she's very pretty." If Jimin wanted to play the innocent conversation game, then he could play too.

"Well-" Jimin huffed. "He claims that you broke into his home with two of your little friends and assaulted him with brass knuckles. Not only is that assault and battery but that's also breaking and entering."

Hoseok laced his fingers together in front of him, the chains on his cuffs jangling and hitting the metal table. "Well, have you ever thought that he's just mad that I'm fucking his wife? That tends to bring a lot of jealousy in marriage, I've found. People like to lie when they're jealous."

"Yeah, it does." Jimin's smile fell from his lips. He didn't have anything against Hoseok personally. He didn't know Hoseok personally. All Jimin knows is that he's a bad man who's done bad things and time and time again has gotten away with it. He refuses to let this scum get away with anything else.

He pursed his lips for a moment. "But he has you on camera in the act. Security cameras in the living room."

Fuck. Hoseok forgot about those.

He hummed, dragging his tongue over the inside of his cheek. "Yeah- I'm not admitting to anything involving that, but did you look at the entire recording?"

Jimin raised a single brow in curiosity. "What do you mean?"

"Well if you look at the recording a few days back, you'll see that Angelo had assaulted his own wife."

"Is that why you did it?"

Hoseok placed his hand on his chest. "I'm not admitting anything of the sort, but tell me, do you have a sister?"

The man across the table leaned back in his chair and sighed. "No, I don't."

"Okay, your mom then. Unless you hate her like I hate mine, imagine your mom was in an unhealthy relationship and her husband, whether he's your dad or not, and he put his hands on her with the intent to harm her. How would you feel?" Hoseok didn't know where he was going with his, really he was just pulling random shit out of his ass, winging it.

Jimin's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "I'd be upset."

"Exactly. And that's why I want my one phone call right now so I can make sure Lia's okay. Her husband is crazy and has violent anger issues and I need to make sure she's okay. Not to mention watching me get arrested was pretty traumatic for her." Hoseok's been waiting all night for his one phone call. Lia must be worried sick. He needed to make sure she was okay.

"Please, Detective. She doesn't know what happened and I was forced to leave her alone in the middle of a dangerous neighborhood. I promised I'd call her."

Jimin was trying to read him. This entire time he was trying to figure Hoseok out, but he couldn't. Hoseok was a tightly sealed book. He was cool, calm, and collected. He was charming and suave. He could see why so many people liked him.

But right here, when he was asking for his phone call so he could talk to Lia and make sure she was okay. His eyes had softened and he was genuinely pleading with Jimin. He cared for, truly. That's Hoseok's soft spot. Lia's his soft spot.

Jimin stood up from his seat, taking the file along with him. "I'll get you your phone call, Jung."

Hoseok let out the smallest sigh of relief, completely inaudible. "Thank you, Detective."

The brunette gave a slight nod before opening the door and leaving the room.

-

Lia couldn't bear to calm down. She's been sitting here for hours, waiting for Hoseok to call, but he hadn't and she was terrified. She had cried until she was dehydrated and physically couldn't shed anymore tears.

"God, you fucking idiot. Please Hoseok just call me." She sniffled, running her hands over her raw face. Her eyes were red and puffy and her throat burned.

Almost as if fate willed it, her phone began to ring beside her. Lia couldn't be faster to grab it and answer. First, it was the robotic voice telling her that their call would be recorded, and then she could get to the call.

"Press 0 to continue with the call."

Lia quickly pressed 0 and returned the phone to her ear. There were a few beats of silence. "Hoseok?" She asked desperately. She would cry if it wasn't him.

"Hey, mama."

Lia's lip trembled and she began breathing heavily in shaky breaths. "Hoseok- Hoseok, what happened? I was so scared that...that you wouldn't call, that you got hurt-"

"Baby- calm down, calm down. Are you okay? Did you get home safe?" She could hear the concern in his voice. Why was he worried about her? He was the one in jail.

"Hoseok, this isn't about if I'm okay-"

"Of course it is. I'm completely fine. You're all that matters to me." His voice grew soft. "You're all that matters and I need to know that you'll be okay because if you're not okay, I'm not okay."

Lia wanted to laugh. She wanted to wrap her arms around him and hug him tight like she always did when she was upset. But all she could do was curl up under his comforter and pretend like he's there with her.

"I'll be okay." She whispered to him.

There was a long beat of complete silence as they think of what to do.

"I'll be gone for maybe one or two days until my bail hearing. If you need anything, call Taehyung, he'll help you, okay?"

She nodded. "Okay."

"Because I only get one call and I'm using it for you, I need you to go to this address and tell the person who lives there that it's a code blue. Can you do that for me?"

"Y-yeah."

So I got nails yesterday for the first time and they're... interesting to write with. I didn't get them very long so I can still write. But I have to write with the pads of my thumbs instead of the tips. Using them takes some getting used too, but I think I'm doiging pretty good.

My first day of school is today. By the time y'all read this I'll already be in class.

I'm already rea6 to go back home.

Thank you all for reading. I hope you guys enjoyed and I wish you all a wonderful day/night.
